Enjoyed greatly listening to Ngakchang Rinpoche and Khandro Dechen. Thank you very much for all the information.
This interview is a game changer, something entirely new, in the field of dharma interviews because you never see teachers being interviewed at their house, walking around and talking, being casual and being interviewed at the same time. You never see the body language of teachers through video chat or audio interview so this is something new and brilliant. It's a great idea, so congratulations to Guru Viking!

Thank you! I think it's in the 'behind the scenes', day-to-day life where the flavour of these kinds of teachings is the clearest because there's active demonstration as well as talking.
Ngak'chang Rinpoche and Khandro Déchen were very generous in allowing me into their home!

Thank you for this..I am so happy to see this full interview with Ngakchang Rinpoche & Khandro Dechen, they have done so much to spread the non monastic Ngakpa tradition in the west..no one should doubt Rinpoche's authenticity as a lineage holder and a peerless teacher of Tibetan Tantra & Dzogchen.... Wonderful interview! Such an inspiring teacher! I have read Wearing the Body of Visions several times. I have highlighted so many sections that it practically makes the point of highlighting useless! What a delightful blessing to find this intimate interview of a true Vajra Master! E ma ho!

It's really Amazing. I read the book too back in the 90s. I don't know of the man Is a real master... But he surely tasted authentic teaching and teachers. I mean: they bit him for sure. Some awakening poison Is still running.

Reminds me of the tortoise and the hare. The big brash, power institutions and their logic, massive crowds and saving the world ethos........and then the outsiders, at school the guys who create the latest jazz album in their basement, who write poetry that changes the world, unnoticed but REAL, and authentic human beings.
Over time, the real gets appreciated while the brash and loud fades away as it was mere smoke and mirrors.

I only recently heard about terton in the Shambhala series of movies. From watching those I had a somewhat exaggeratedly spiritual view of terton (a habit of mine to do that). Listening to this very down to earth explanation of terton makes it all more accessible to me. Not in the same class as terton, by any means, but I myself, when I was 14 standing outside the chemistry lab at school received a download of information which showed me in an instant how and why the materialistic word view was wrong. Unlike the description of terton here though, I did have to progressively download it as my capacity to do that unfolded thought out the next 56 years of my life.
Such a wonderful interview of a remarkable couple. Thank you.

When I heard him say that he has an I.Q. of 66 I thought he was just making a joke but I’m reading Wisdom Eccentrics at the moment and I just came across a passage where he talks seriously about having been tested and the result being 66 ! I can’t believe it ! I have been tested when I was a teenager at school (the hope of the teacher was that if I was under 80 he could get rid of me legally) but to much surprise it turned out that I was way above average. I can tell you with certainty that this man has an I.Q. higher than mine.

Jonathan Nadeau as a student for almost 20 years, now, the IQ question is something I have pondered.
My hypothesis so far is that this is a particularly good teaching for people like me, who have identified with their intelligence, and are afraid of being accused of- or lapsing into- stupidity.
And I think that he ABSOLUTELY means EXACTLY what he says. The student ‘s job is understanding/making use of this teaching. I am endlessly grateful.

Also in the process of being diagnosed as a dyslexic they use an IQ test, and usually the results arise within that spectrum because the brain of a dyslexic does not cohere to the standard measurements of mainstream IQ testing, but of course it turns out the dyslexic brain is considered to be a genius of the species, a different set of greater intelligence than the greater intelligent genius as defined by the mainstream like certain autistic types. As a dyslexic watching this, for me, Mr. Ngakpa has the brain of a dyslexic; Thomas Jefferson was dyslexic, as well as, Einstein.

This man was a Facebook friend of mine. Not long along he was discussing and promoting an alleged Bhutanese tertön. I asked this ngakpa something like: how do you know he is a genuine treasure revealer, does he possess “the three unchanging signs” that Padmasambhava said confirms an authentic tertön? I instantly got blocked. I wonder why that was?

You have a clip of yogis jumping into lotus posture at the beginning when his is talking about Tummo and why you need to be physically fit. Was that clip from Le Message des Tibetains, and if so what part, and if not, where was the clip from, I would like to see the full motion. Very cool video.

Hi Benjamin, the clips is from an old documentary which is on TH-cam in several version and permutations. Here's a longer version of the excerpt that features the jumping lotus footage: th-cam.com/video/YIuVuVvjLSI/w-d-xo.html

I like that bit about the package, being a vegetarian is just one of them, seems to me there are many unspoken ones that western Buddhists police and judge each other over and many things people come to expect and do as Buddhists that aren't mentioned in sutras. For example, you can't be a mouth breather either, that alone and you'll get run out of every sangha there is, though to be fair you can't get a university degree either with your uvula half hanging out all of the time, people just see that as grounds for discrediting you and disqualifying you from everything, not just being a Buddhist. Traditionally blondes and especially not red heads or anyone dark skinned. udjom alks about ths rather shocking. He seemed glad to have those kinds of people. I guess it gets kin do flonely if you disqualify most of the world because they look strange to you. But as far as mouth breathing I've never heard of that being not Buddhist. But if nothing has ever gone well in your life at all, you should check if you are a mouth breather. Took me 60 years to finally figure out what the problem was with me and other people (my mouth breathing thing). Its too late now in my case. As they say, we are always the last to get the bad news about ourselves. If you come to the retreat breathing through your mouth, most western Buddhists are going to be about fit to be tied , at first its an oh-my-fucking-god eye roll. its like, "Oh for fuck sake!" hen i develops into a meeting with you "Look...No mate. You jus can' come to retreat I don't know...theres just...I don't know... something with you." You ask them "What?!" They say, "Well...Its YOU mate!" "What?!" "I don't know mate! You tell me! I just don't know about you, there's just something going on with you I can't put my finger on! I think you know what it is! Do something about it! And if you can't I think you should leave the retreat early! I think we've all had about enough and the disturbance that you create!" Then the next few days There will inevitably be a contingent who will be adamant that you be sent home from the rereat in an ambulance or taxi immediately. Or a more passive aggressive style will be the contemptuous eye rolling only but you will be given the wrong time to come to the practice session."No! The lama started 2 hours ago! You need to wait outside til we're done here ok?" What kind of Buddhist imposter has a perpetually clogged nose? You can't be obese either, you'll get put in the storage room they've been "compassionate" (few wesern Buddhists get what compassion is, they confuse it for being sympathetic or charitable) enough and gone to special trouble to clear out for you and be put in there with the mouth breather. Nor too sexually magnetic either, those types are kind of in there with being stupid because people that are sexy cannot also be intelligent thats just more than anyone should be allowed or have any interest in dharma, no good looking sexy people are automatically narcissists. What do you think this is coming in here as you do looking like that, a pick up scene? Don't look at my wife again. Stop talking to the others at this rereat we know what you're doing, you're gloating, lording it over others or hitting on people. And stupid people are not allowed to be Buddhists either even in Asia, anyone who is not a nerd is highly suspect. You should be skinny also. Buddhists don't have swimming pool or beach suntans. Being muscular or overly tall and you are viewed as aggressive and inconsiderate, you block everyone's way and you also call too much attention to yourself, we are all selfless and unnoticed around here, maybe you just need to join the gym. You should also be very well adjusted and happy, not have any interesting hobbies or tendencies such as surrealism or electronic music. Why do you try to fill your life with fruitless pursuits? Being a complete flake is also a true sign of having become a Buddhist among most westerners and will get you all kinds of important admin positions and you can charge people for all kinds of things and neglect to put them on the list so they can't attend the teaching and you can exercise non-attachment witth a breezy chuckly que sera sera , "You don't need to worry! There will probably be another retreat before the decade is out. We run this whole operation on a shoestring you know, if you want anything to be reliable maybe you should join the Rotary Club or a Prebyterian church!" Eating a bland and unnutritious diet of plain boiled potatoes and over cooked greens you are anemic and can only function a 25%. Buddhists while very techno savy cannot run a sound system properly or get the event calendar right. Half of the teachings and events should be neglected and there should be special cool people who get notified and get to attend everything. A Buddhist admin person does not answer the phone very often and half of the emails. About 40 percent of event notices should be sent to people an hour or so before the teachings start and an occasional notice that is sent the day after is always good. Any teachings that did not have multiple failures of microphones and periodic feedback blasts and 60 cycle hum buzzing and online teachings that didn't feature large swaths of teachings where the lamas microphone was not turned on in the toolbar settings is not a Buddhist retreat. I can think of many more aspects of the Buddhist package. I don't think Tricycle would particularly appreciate any of it either, its not seen as very funny eiher they are a rather serious bunch, so it would just amount to a whole lot of moaning to them I imagine.

    Appreciate the interview! Well done.
Though I wonder whether he was serious with his claim of having an IQ of 66 - he seemed to be serious enough. That is a highly questionable statement that does not in the slightest reflect his actual cognitive ability that is clearly displayed. If he is serious with that, then he is highly misinformed with regard to that and has no reference to compare himself to an actual person with an IQ of 66. Just to say, such a person likely even has significant trouble putting on the clothes Chögyam is wearing - not to speak of anything more than that that Chögyam does.
