I respect that they said they weren't good. However I wish they would have had someone that was good show off the mage gameplay as that is usually my favorite class in DA. I am sold on warrior and rouge gameplay but not so much on the mage and I believe that is due to the fact that Corrine isn't the best at the game. Hopefully we get more mage gameplay.

@@darmut6159 we get it we get it. It aint origins and you are dissapointed. It's origins vs the world right now with this game heck even a major DA content creator titled a video that when speaking on DAV. Never based criticism off 2 or Inquisition only origins so I can just imagine how it was when 2 or Inquisition was coming out it was the same cycle. The echo chamber is really something when it comes to stylized art style that honestly looks a step in direction they were going in when looking at inquisition to Veilguard, and combat being more interactive and engaging since DA was never know for combat and that is why combat mods are a thing.
Just like time moves on yes a new team will be working on this game. Granted majority of the leads worked on some past Bioware game as well as regarding Writers dude worked on the DA books and Mass Effect series. Sure it's new ppl but ain't like they just hired ppl that didn't know jack on DA. It changed combat is more action based which I mean cool its going to be engaging this time outside of pause point and click to see an animation replay over and over until enemy is dead.

What do you mean by that?
@@Baytuh you could basically use any weapon in origins, no matter what your class was. it felt a little restricting with only being able to use one weapon in 2 and 3 (only dual blades if you picked that, etc). the character in the video has a sword, dagger (i think ) and bow equipped in this though, which means they brought it back! Even if it’s not *any* weapon, being able to switch from bow to dual blades is so cool.

I see a heavy inspiration from Kingdoms of Amalur in terms of the animatoons and the combos. And thats a good thing.

I can’t overstate how happy I am to actually see a good and detailed showcase of combat. I was hoping the mage class would get a similar breakdown in the IGN showcase since I plan on becoming a Spellblade Mage, but I’ve become a lot more optimistic about the general gameplay now

Damn might break with my tradition of doing my first playthrough of a DA game as mage and instead try rogue first, it looks so fun.
All classes are looking awesome but i'm going warrior first then mage then rogue.
OMG FINALLY a Rogue that can use two swords instead of daggers AND can switch to a bow ?! AND all of your weapons are always visible so it doesn't look like you pull swords or a bow out of your ass whenever you switch set ??! AND ON TOP OF THAT we finally get dual swords/daggers worn at the hips instead of awkwardly on the back ???!

I already enjoy this new gear upgrade system more than the crafting in Inquisition. Also, that rogue gameplay is fire. Now, I need to decide between doing a bow build or a dagger build.

I will miss crafting my own gear and dyeing it as DAV doesn't have a dye system like DAI.
Ooh let's go Rogue Rook makes so much sense to me. The warrior gameplay with the sword and shield does look really fun too, I'm happy guard is gone.

I only ever play mage or rogue usually a mage first time round, i hope we get some better gameplay of the mage because that ign video was painful at times 😅
truth lol, but to be fair being hit by 2-3 projectiles every few seconds doesn't seem fun needing to dodge (mage teleport) all the time. Game director said a tank wasn't needed but...definitely seem needed there Rook having enemy aggro majority of the time.

I'm very new to the DA world, which is definitely why I don't understand the criticism this game keeps getting from longtime fans, but to me this looks fun af. That's the most important aspect of any game to me. I hope they do a showcase like this for mages, because while I enjoyed the IGN showcase, I can see why some weren't fans...
The reason why some people don't like it is because it doesn't have the tactical gameplay that the first game had (which that gameplay style hasn't been seen since the first game and that was back in 2009).

I'm still on the fence with the game, as there are some things that bother me, but specifically on the contents of this video, it looks great!
I particularly liked how they found a cool use for duplicate weapons, that is a really smart idea, and it's also "logical" in the fantasy context of the game.

Its kind of funny that people clowned on the game for originally being live service, but those roots are probably what led to the progression and items seeming to allow for more build variety and theorycrafting.

Combat looks stunning visuals are crisp and clean. Now....on to what I can see becoming an unnecessary grind is this requirement to level this "vendor" up to progress your gear plus needing resources as well

Well the combat looks pretty good. The one thing I never liked about previous dragon age games was that for most classes you felt and or were "rooted" when casting any ability.
I often play a Bow wielding Rogue or mage and whenever you shoot your bow you're stuck. I like action-RPG games and this is clearly geared towards a lot of dodge and movements and dash attacks etc. Which is right up my alley.
I do like that the game isn't as much "open world" anymore. I prefer the linear (mostly) style. It means that you progress instead of meandering doing useless fetch quests. The battles are more "designed" and things more crafted in the world. I never even finished DA:I because it was just too much with Hinterlands and I have the OCD style game play habit of needing to see every inch of map or I feel like I am "missing something". So I tend to get bored after it becomes nothing but a grind.
This is why I love Mass Effect games, God of War, Uncharted and games like that. It's narrative and game play that is straight forward.
I have started something like 3-4 games this year alone and haven't finished any of them. Not because they are bad. But because I lose interest. It's crazy. But I am playing GoW Ragnarok but KNOW I will finish it because of how it is made. Same with The Veilguard. Yes it has some open areas, but not the entire game.

Gameplay looks better than than what was showed last and the QOL updates are praiseworthy. The problem I have is with the actual narrative and the dialogue, I dont need Mass Effect Andromeda again.

@@Baytuh In Inquisition, you got a giant magic blade, you were a tank, healer, beat mage class in the game. It had replaced Arcane Warrior from Origins.

In Inquisition the item variation was not very good, a small handful of armors & weapons. The black emporium didn't add very many but I did like how we could change the color and kind of temper the item with field collected resources. Curious to see how the item upgrading system will be in Veilguard and if there's mounts still and hopefully the riding mechanic gets better if there is.

I gotta see all the specializations. So far we have seen duelist(rouge) and champion(warrior). They didnt show off what the mage was in the other showcase and thats the class im worried about.

@@muratahashira Well Bioware already confirmed that Rooke won't be able to use blood magic for story reasons.
@@muratahashira They said there won't be blood magic this time around. The new mage specializations are Death Caller (Necromancer) , Spellblade (Melee) and Evoker (Elemental)

This looks decently competent but my god if they don't nail the story down to a fine point I'm going to hate this game. Inquisition tried too hard to be mysterious. Reading the lore felt like a chore because everything was written the same way and was copy pasted over and over. The cutscenes and side stories were fantastic but fell flat once I finished the game.
I hope the story is good too.

@@Baytuh the character had the lightning sword skill from veil ranger meaning he started as a veil ranger and is specializing in duelist.

against darkspawn and undead yeah. We need to see it against other enemies.

No you can choose any faction you want. Its not locked like that.
You can chose whatever you want however you may get background specific choices and dialog when dealing with the factions

I have to say, this game may be revolutionary for Dragon Age - but I have a feeling it’s definitely a step in the wrong direction. Way too many features that were core functions of DA games have been removed. Fingers crossed it plays well, but can’t say I’m ecstatic at all.

Something tells me they're reworking Taash. she never appears in the videos and the character is having a very bad general reception overall.
I've seen mixed feedback. She looks too masculine, can't tell that's a woman at first glance etc.
Screenshot of her looking up was odd angle, but her physical character design fans of her saying stuff like "muscle mommy" or having her thighs crush them, wanting her to step on them lol.....

These companion mechanics are trash, they aren't even their own person/character. You have to micro manage them, their damage is piddly and they don't even get their own ultimate. This style of gameplay is not suited for dragon age imo.
The companions attack infrequently, do no damage, and you gotta pause the game every 3 sec to get some combo off which breaks the immersion of this action style gameplay they were going for. Like WOW

@Baytuh you collect items to upgrade your home enchanter, which upgrades the items you find in the world, which upgrade your own equipped item if it's the same item? That makes zero sense. I'm not a hater; I'm pre-ordering. But that system makes my head hurt.

I've always played as a mage in all 3 games. It's the first time the mage combat is lacklustre, boring and off for me..And plus there are way many more issues here...I'll wait and see when the game comes out what other players will say and then decide...
I think it just looked off cuz whoever was playing mage for 22 min vid wasn't good at it.
20 min prologue with Rogue seemed weird, but this skill deep dive showcases Rogue waaay better compared.

I literally dont get who this game is for. This trash should not of had the da brand slapped on. So gutted they have done this. Fingers crossed for a faithful origins remake at some point. Bring back the dark, gritty non cartoonish world please.
