will be doing this on my C4 Picasso in a couple of weeks... glad to know it's as simple as you say! :)

Yeah it'd be easier if the filter was at the front. It's not difficult but seems to require more work than you'd want for a routine service item.

Did mine today took 5min it was 2016 picasso with hdiblue, the clearance was enough to remove the cover and swap filter.

Is the filter still behind the engine on those? That's a good job that. 👍

@@channelone4655 yes just on top of the engine I was really worried to have to dismantle everything but this version was so easy , the filter is square shape. I think they probably heard complaints and made adjustments to the new design.

great video mate how does 1.6hdi sound like is it noisy ?

    • @channelone4655

Despite having nearly 90K miles on it my car has been quite well looked after so doesn't sound loud at all. The cabin is very well insulated too. I'm over 40 and this is the first diesel I've owned and I can't say the sound is loud, just different. Although at around 2500rpm there's what sounds like an exhaust heat shield rattle which I'll be hunting down in a later video I hope.

@@channelone4655 that's great to hear my 1.6hdi has like 180k Mille's so would that be the case why it's noisy engine maybe the millage😔

@@dracony7649 Well these engines do run well beyond that mileage but things do certainly loosen up with age. It's difficult to tell without hearing a noise what it could be. The correct oil to ensure the hydraulic tappets work correctly is important, otherwise they can make tappy tap noises especially when cold, rumbly grumbly noises from low in the engine are quite a bad sign of something big and important failing, but just a louder than you'd like diesel engine sound is not to be unexpected with age. I drove a 1.6hdi with 160K miles and it was noticably louder than mine currently but still pulled the same. A full service kit is about £50 off ebay and if done every 6-8K miles should keep an engine running well beyond 250K without trouble. I'll get a dB meter app and pop a video up of how loud mine is, might be interesting for some. 👍

This is comically bad design: an air filter should be user-replaceable. As should light bulbs but still some models require you to dismantle the fenders and whatever to do that.
