Fantastic! So that's what was going on behind the swinging door while I was out confabbing with the customers all those years :o) Great to see Merle still at it!
While the video shows the amount of steps necessary to construct a Bike Friday, the speed at which it moves does disservice to the attention to detail in the steps. I own two Bike Fridays and I think that like the Slow Food movement, construction of a BF entails craftsmanship the video misses. If it had a few real time sections, especially in the brazing area, it would not inadvertently look rushed.
In setup assembly I have found the Bike Friday work the be shoddy - for what ever reasons. Have now owned three, and have found this to be the general case. That is a shame because that spoils the quality of the upfront fabrication and design, Would now say that Bike Friday does not live up to my background in bicycle mechanics - as limited as it is, I was trained in quality work. They put effort into customer service, but seem to be lacking in knowledge and ability about the bicycle. Details of assembly and adjustment are weak - such as to even take the time to seal/lubricate the main fold hinge, or grease weather seal the headset - yet that is an equally important aspect of the finished product. It should be put together with the idea of extended optimal use. Of course it would require adjustments in the beginning and contiued adjustment and maintenance, but, I have a long list of things I had to correct. For many customers, these may go unnoticed, but wold detract from the performance of the bike. Have made much effort to give constructive feedback, but it is taken as dissatisfaction on my part. They are though, quick to send what ever replacement parts where warranted. What irks me is this is a real Made in USA bike with a premium price - rather than something to compete with Walmart. Further investigation has revealed that it is in the climate of the company. Sorry, I have given them a chance. A bicycle owner deserves better.
Excellent video. Watching this video makes me appreciate all the hard work and dedication that keeps my bike going strong on a 100 mile century ride

I always thought Bike Friday deserves a good documentary.
