@@mokithepepe2454 OH MY GOD LITERALLY YESTERDAY I JUST STARTED TWEETING AT SAM REICH, DROPOUT, DIMESION 20, BRENNAN, AND THIS CAST(plus added trixie and katya lmao) SAYING I WAS GOING TO TWEET THEM ASKING FOR ANOTHER DUNGEONS AND DRAG QUEENS
This sounds like a joke my players would totally make. Similarly, since the drag queens are new to D&D it's really cool to see them go through the motions of not only getting into the flow of it, with character dynamics and problem solving right off the bat.
It's awesome. The pacing is both accessible to people who might not have played before, and provides a model to DM/GMs introducing the game to new players. I loved this episode, and can't wait for the rest of the season.
It's fun watching them "get" D&D over time. I feel like Bob is the "best" player at the moment because they're trying to help the DM more than throw curveballs at Brennan. Has Bob played before, or improv experience maybe? Of course that moment of "this isn't a video game? We can just make anything happen if we can imagine it?" and then chucking curveball at the DM is a fundamental stepping stone in being a good player, so I love that the other queens, especially Juju are in that phase. I say "best" in quotes because we all know that any player that isn't being a problem is a good player. But the regular cast on shows like Critical Role or Dim20 are a DM's dream because they know how to feel out that perfect ebb-and-flow of helping and hindering the DM's narrative. I feel like Bob is getting that concept really quickly. But also every party need someone like Juju for some chaos.
@Asian6oy there's a couple of reasons. You can add details and describe what you want to do, but that doesn't always mean you're going to be successful. Most meaningful actions in the game require a roll to see whether or not you are achieving what you want to do. Another way rolling is important is because, ultimately, the DM or GM has control over the world. Usually, they can counteract any players' inventions with inventions of their own. DMs will often play genie, and grant the players their "wish", but, through story-telling, a good DM will find the gaps so the wish won't necessarily come to fruition exactly as the player wanted if they don't roll well. Combat/action based turns also have a lot of limitations on the player sheets that lay out what is mechanically possible.
I think the selection of queens is soooooo smart. Each queen present acts in a very complementary way to other personalities in the room, they’re all very much team players
I feel lucky that the first content of D&D i ever really watched was this because i just loved Monét and Bob having an almost intant idea of what to do, but let me tell you - Jujubee was so lovely to watch in this. AND Alaska was great too, i think i just loved the entire 'cast'. And Brennan was amazing too, holy eff. I knew he could do accents but DAMN, i really needed to see this. If anyone in here has not seen this yet, i highly recommend, it is an amazing watch. At least to me, it was.
YES TO ALL OF THIS! I'm going to start recommending this series to new players and anyone who is new to actual play content. It felt very accessible and the ladies did great!
