And damn if it aint a treat to see it again and see just how bad it actually was. Though I'll always still appreciate it because it helped me get into sword collecting later in life. I don't remember how close that particular paper mill was to the Tacoma Dome, but I do remember the smell being unbearable...and that was just passing through the the freeway.
I remember this being the first anime fighting game adaptation that made me sad. Shirou Amakusa deserves better. Like, both the real one and the one from the games. And I don't know, but Charlotte's actress still seems like a step up. Galford's was like...Shining Force 3 dub quality. "You wouldn't call him Arucard, would you?" Oh God, I just had flashbacks to stubborn fansub-purist Hellsing fans. They really would. (oof at the double example from Sailor Moon, and then remembering that whole "Save Our Sailors" mess)

Regarding Shirou Amakusa, I've seen him crop up multiple times in anime, but always as a villain (sometimes a tragic villain, but I've also seen him depicted as an absolute monster too, but always an antagonist), even though I've heard him described as a benevolent figure in real life, that he's considered a folk saint by many Japanese Catholics, and there's even a statue & memorial hall dedicated to him in Japan...So whats the deal with that? Not trying to make a scene over it or anything, just curious as to why it seems to be so popular to use him as a bad guy in anime when he doesn't seem to be thought of as such in reality.

It was common issue in translation as Japanese language don't have gender annotations and stuff back then usually lack proper design materials, so translators commonly guessed only what is going one there.

Imagine my disappointment when he didn't show a clip of Ukyo walking around at the end of his review, the same way the movie forgot he existed until the credits.
Aaaaaah the Hinterlands bears. I remember being stuck fight them and they just kept spawning so I figured I'd try to run away but the the mambaris kept spawning with bears. So I try escaping other direction then 3 Mercenaries kept spawning like the mamabri and bears and I was freaking out because I no more potions left over. And then I looked behind me and saw that campsite compass thingy. I activated it hoping that it would fix the glitch but it didn't. BUT I did get something out of it. My team and I fought hard right outside of camp, and it was the right distance so that I could run but my team wouldn't follow yet. And so, whenever we ran out of potions I just left the team for a bit to pick up some and make more potion. HOLY SHIT did we freaking level....well...we leveled up by 2 levels but still when you're at lvl 11. That can come in handy. Plus, I get to say I fought a glitch and won.
Heh... that whole diatribe on trying to figure out what in the hell year this anime's set in reminds me of the first episode of Samurai Jack, and the thoroughly pointless amount of effort I put into figuring out just how far apart in time the people he trained with were. Even has a similar problem, with most people being "only" a few centuries apart from each other!
Sacre bleu! Tiffany Grants's French accent just sucks the cheese out of the brie cheese. I think she needs to stick to playing a German character that ride on a giant mech and has mommy issues. But please dear God, Don't make Ms. Grant play a French character.

It is interesting that still probably the best fighting game adaptation is the Fatal Fury Double Impact collection. Street Fighter 2 V is second in my opinion, and it's a good adaptation that even though they didn't follow a tournament plot, it has plenty of good fight scenes, better story than most of the other adaptations about it, and it has it's own story.

Although I do believe it has the best true adaptation of Bison, Raul Julia's is still the best over the top, but the Bison in V with the way they do his music and the first time you see him in the mansion with his psycho power overflowing still sends chills.

I love that franchise. I remember when I first started Samurai Spirits (I think) for Dreamcast, I saw that gigantic cast of 80 or so characters placed on several pages (!) on the character selection screen.
Actually, if they're some of those crazy-big bees or wasps that Japan is supposed to have (just look up the pictures, a single one is larger than the palm of a grown-ass man!😨), it's possible that they could be stung through the sandals, since those hell-insects look like they could pierce through anything short of steel plating!
I do remember cutting my teeth on the SNES one like most. trying to figure out how to do a fatality. Because death finishes were a thing in that game. I played i think a PS1 version of the game, but my memory is vague. I still have the VHS of this anime, and I remember it being decent. Then again, I also have Darkstalkers on VHS... which might have set my bar super low for fighting game anime.
I grew up playing Samurai Shodown in the arcade. And Samurai Shodown 2 on Sega Genesis. And Samurai Shodown: Warriors Rage on Playstation. Love the series. Got the anthology later and also Sen on Xbox 360. I enjoy this anime for how cheesy it is.

Where's Ukyo? Is he just not in it or did I miss him? Also, Fun Fact: Haohmaru and Ukyo are loosely based on real life rivals Miyamoto Musashi and Sasaki Kojiro respectively. And they lived in the late 1500s-early 1600s. Yeah, timeline consistency isn't SS's strong point.

Hey do you think you will ever do a review of 'A Tree of Palme'? It is based on Pinocchio and it is weird.
I remember this game I actually quite love it back then playing it in the Arcade.
I love that franchise. I remember when I first started Samurai Spirits (I think) for Dreamcast, I saw that gigantic cast of 80 or so characters placed on several pages (!) on the character selection screen.
I saw it twenty five or so years ago in Mexico at a con. It was in English with Spanish subtitles.

Actually, if they're some of those crazy-big bees or wasps that Japan is supposed to have (just look up the pictures, a single one is larger than the palm of a grown-ass man!😨), it's possible that they could be stung through the sandals, since those hell-insects look like they could pierce through anything short of steel plating!

I do remember cutting my teeth on the SNES one like most. trying to figure out how to do a fatality. Because death finishes were a thing in that game. I played i think a PS1 version of the game, but my memory is vague. I still have the VHS of this anime, and I remember it being decent. Then again, I also have Darkstalkers on VHS... which might have set my bar super low for fighting game anime.

And Samurai Shodown: Warriors Rage on Playstation.
Love the series. Got the anthology later and also Sen on Xbox 360.

Also, Fun Fact: Haohmaru and Ukyo are loosely based on real life rivals Miyamoto Musashi and Sasaki Kojiro respectively. And they lived in the late 1500s-early 1600s. Yeah, timeline consistency isn't SS's strong point.

Why is vash the stampede in this show? Ok I get that that isn't him and anime characters can have very similar designs but that's basically the exact same design with different clothes.
I remember watching this years ago and have played a couple of the games. It's an okay fighting series, but not my favourite.
