      @@lifeinthefl94 Probably because I made it up 🙂.... Bottom line, documenting your thought process around forecasting your ENTIRE mission is incredibly helpful. Weather, fuel, hard time requirements (for your shows) is something that I haven't been able to find anywhere else and is a very useful tool for those starting to jump into planning work focused cross country flying. None of those factors exist in a vacuum, and the hearing you talk through your thought process is gold.

    I loved a book called “Flying the Weather Map” by Richard Collins. Your emphasis on how weather and winds effect your decision making remind me very much of this book. He flew a P210; I’m positive he would have loved your modern avionics not to mention an extra 50+ kts of TAS. Thanks very much for doing this.

    Love the videos and presentation of flight planning in particular for the Meridian. Just curious if you were in fact wearing oxygen during this leg of the flight if you are flying a Meridian? Just curious why. Do you feel you need more direct oxygen personally or is it related to some lack of pressurization in the Meridian?
    Again thanks for the wonderful videos. Very insightful.

    • @lifeinthefl94
      @lifeinthefl94  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Great question. At FL300 and max diff of 5.5psi, the cabin is at 10500' and I find that I start getting tired if Im at that altitude for a long period of time. So, I got an oxygen concentrator and just use it as a supplement, especially at night. Totally not necessary.

      Ha! That’s great!! Did you just now find the channel? I’ve been remiss in posting for a while, in part because I went and got typed at FSI in ICT in the CE510(s). Was under contract to buy one and the deal fell through late in the prepurchase inspection due to engine corrosion. Have put the acquisition on hold and will pick it up again at the end of the year. How long have you had the CJ? Do you love it!?! Are you playing drums actively? Once I get the Mustang and start making videos in it I’ll post to CJP.

      @@lifeinthefl94 I just found this channel, it appeared on my home page. Haven't played the drums in a while, but bet you can guess who my favorite drummer is based on my tail number. I had a CJ1 for 10 years after the meridian, than decided to get a Premier1A. Loved it however only had it for a year and a half, kept having flap fail issues. The CJ4 is my dream airplane. It is a beast in range, altitude and speed. Going tomorrow for my 61.58. I've never flown a mustang, I've heard it is a great airplane. CJP is a great source of information. I'd recommend not purchasing a Mustang without it having a engine program. I'm sure there are people who would argue against it. Not having to worry about the engines, is a piece of mind.

      @@N2112_CJ4 Neil!! My very close friend and mentor on the drums, Joe Bergamini, co-wrote a book w NP and they became good friends. So sad that he’s gone. I would NEVER buy a plane that wasn’t on programs. This one is/was and as a result it was hard to get any answer from Pratt as to whether the corrosion was significant or not. Ended up hiring a couple consultants who all agreed it was pretty bad, so I had to scuttle the deal. Very very disappointing. Where are you based?

      Hey there! I know - I cant control what the guys in the right seat do. Once, my drum tech was flying back with me at night and I caught him on a dating app. He got endless crap for that. I committed to BJC in advance because I didnt want to deal with landing in the mountains to save a 90min car ride. I knew I was going to be tired and had already arranged for a car rental etc. Just seemed easier. Glad to hear youre well. keep it up!

    Any time ATC descends me earlier than I want, I ask for a pilot's discretion descent. Sometimes they'll give it to me and I just stay up there until they tell me I have to descend.

    • @lifeinthefl94
      @lifeinthefl94  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know what you mean and I have been experimenting with that going east into the EWR West sector. Usually I start the descent with Cleveland center or NY center, get handed to another NY controller, and then it is all TEC-type routing starting with Wilkesbarre and then Allentown approach before getting the handoff to NY approach. Unless I cancel at 17500' and go VFR the remainder, the PD trick doesnt seem to work coming from that direction into NY, at least not in a Meridian. I've used it elsewhere with good results. nI didnt try that going into Chicago because I was on an arrival.
      Thanks for watching and thanks for reaching out.

    When they keep you low is it an option to reduce power to save fuel or does it not work that way in a turboprop? Love the videos!

    • @lifeinthefl94
      @lifeinthefl94  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes - that definitely works (look at the curve for parasite drag and you'll see why that works in just about any airplane), something that I employ routinely but which only haves about 60# of fuel over a three hour flight. Glad you're enjoying these!
