I use Samsung note since note 5. Currently using note 10 plus. It's good to see the evolution as well as mkbhd himself. It's not that long only 3 to 4 years.. but feeling like ages.
LOL! People always complained about the plastic back. Now that it's premium. ......lets throw a skin on the back to make it look.....you guessed it, like plastic. LOL

I guess i have to buy the 64gig Note 5 now since i had to return my note7. Att had to threaten me with zero battery life to get me to return it. I swear i wasn't going to. The note 7 is probably the best phone ever made. Phuck you samsung.

Same. I need lots of storage for games, music and video footage. It takes my pc a full 5 min to boot up. With my phone I can pull up what I need to see within 10 seconds.

I got no problem with a sealed in battery as long as it has good usage. Anyway they didn't release this in the UK so screw Samsung lol. Great video though 👍

TH-cam recommended the Note 3 review, I refreshed and it recommended the Note 5 review. We're getting there. A few more refreshes to get me to the present.
that non-removable battery could pose a problem. Taking the battery out is my last resort when the phone starts freezing and acting up. With this phone I'll have to wait for the phone to fix itself.
Dante Bradley "fix itself" basically means to wait for the phone to unfreeze or to stop loading slow. It seems your intellect is what's being "challenged" here.
+Richard Harkness I just got the phone yesterday. I'm coming from a Note 3 which I tried and was running custom touchwiz ROMs two weeks of owning it. Last six months I have been running Cyanogen. I can't go back to non stock. Now I love love the camera on Samsung best hands down. However after a taste of the optimization, fluidity, and speed of stock I was hunt for a stock phone with good camera. This Moto X Pure camera is just as good in daylight. Night time with flash could be better if they program lens to let in more light out open longer. Night shots with flash are just as detailed if not more than Note 3 but it isn't as bright as Samsung. Like I said this can be fixed I believe with some software optimization. Multitasking is better than my Note 3. Still pacing battery life but turbo charging is nice very clutch. Still amazed with the multitasking. I have bamboo back and it isn't slippery which I thought it would be. Very nice and premium feeling. I couldn't notice any weight difference with my Note 3 which has a glass screen protector. The bumper it came with seems flimsy but it is pretty solid once it is on. Once you figure out how to put it on it is pretty easy. Hint phone goes in from the back on bumper. I was waiting for Huweai nexus but I decided customizability was bigger for me than having a "Nexus". Grip is better due to curved edge than Note 3 even though save screen size. Reception is much better. In my office where I had LTE but no bars I now have 2-3. I'm on T Mobile in Atlanta area. Speakers are nice caught myself trying to cup it like I used to do and I lol'ed because this is front facing. I thought having on screen button would duck since real estate is taken up but in fact disappears when you need it to. Have to get used to button layout. I prefer having volume on other side but I can survive lol. Front camera is good with flash and surprisingly it isn't blinding week not to my eyes. Maybe light sensitive ppl will have a problem. It did run warm like first 30-45 min when I got the phone due to downloading 94 apps and me trying to do everything I could on it. After that no problem. Liking the motto display. Not new to it I had so called dynamic notification. Screen wise amoled v LCD. They are both great. Moto has more pixel so seems sharper. It is warmer in time than Note. Going to see if I can tweak it. I like cooler colors. Oh I have no trouble typing on it with it laying on table which I thought I would.
+Yungknigth Woah there! I wasn't expecting a review but wow thank you!! I'm coming to it from the OnePlus One and CyanogenMod. Trouble for me is I can't recall now what features are android and what's CyanogenMod lol! Not that I'm touching the software on it. Really glad the bamboo feels good as that's what I went for too. Thanks for the tip on the bumper case which I think I'll use. I want to feel the wood texture after all, putting a full case on it would be pointless.
+Parsa Vahdati I actually have a cracked iPhone 4 that I use as a mp3 player, for my room- one that I'd never use again as a phone on my computer desk :D
+sic22l Nope 23 megapixle with some new sony magic that lets it shoot pictures crazy fast. Any ways sony has never been known for bad cameras (from what I know).
The__Watcher Sony's flagships have always had pretty bad cameras compared to their competitors. This time is no different, Z5 takes very noisy phonos with washed out details. www.esato.com/board/printpost.php?post=3226230
The Note 5 is the most amazing piece of electronics I have ever owned. Love it. Not a day goes by that I don't learn something new about its capabilities, and it does everything flawlessly. Best smartphone I have ever used, and AT&T provides superb service.
when you get a iphone you'll get bored and want the latest phone again lol, I just sold my iphone 6s and got the s7 and Im bored already waiting for the iphone 7 now xD
+Hassan Khalid if u rly like stock android yeah go for it. but nexus gets really boring bc the features are lacking. but u do get the stock experience and early updates
I'm just now upgrading from one of these to a Pixel 5. Overall I felt it was fine for the time but I can really feel it starting to struggle for the few apps I use.
Amazing piece of hardware ! This phone won't let you down ,but unless if you are the kind of person who gets bored of anything he uses for couple of months ,you would get bored ,because i am ! really want an IPhone or a nexus ,why are you bored of ios tho?
Does it even use the RAM in multitasking? Or does it have the problem all Lollipop phones do, where it can't use the ram to hold many apps in the background?
Got this in my recommended but funny enough that I'm still watching this on my note 5 Edit) my note 5 was in perfect condition but I've now upgraded to the s20 ultra 😅
Can't remove the Battery, Can't expand the Storage, and the IR Blaster was removed as well?!...... So why isn't this actually a step down From my Galaxy Note 3?! These are pretty major features that got removed!...... I'm sorry but..... It's just a bridge too far for me. LG promised to keep it's removable batteries and expandable memory. Here I come LG........
+lordcron Spot on Lord, I agree 100%. Design is only one aspect. Its the features of the removable battery and expandable storage which we all need. Lets wait for Note 6 !
+lordcron cause there competing with the iPhone 6S plus, which you can't expand the storage same with the battery, lol they figure if Apple makes millions, they can to, and thats why the GS6 was a flop and is this phone, and its a shame i actually really liked the Galaxy Notes, and this coming from an Apple user in general,
I had one and it was by far the worst phone I ever owned. Laggy since the beginning, boot loops, and bricked itself without any rooting or drop damage. That was across 3 different notes I owned.
I have this one too. I've had it for about 2.5 years. After 2 years the battery started acting up though. It would jump from a full charge down quickly. Then I got a "new" battery that was a little better. No more jumping from a full charge to 50% or 50% to 20% and then 0%. But the new battery doesn't charge full. Yet it would have lasted me. It's just that a drink I had with me leaked on it in my bag and now I need to see whether it will turn on in a few days. If it does it can easily last me 'til December or later. A nice 3 years or more. I'll just have the charge it often. Then I may be able to get a Note 5 or S8. Or maybe even the Note 8. If it's good and I can afford it. The Notes are my personal favorite. Oh, the fingerprint scanner on the Note 4 I own also stopped working recently. My phone started freezing and I wouldn't be able to unlock it with the fingerprint scanner or the backup password. I think it had just become too much for my phone to handle. So I deactivated both and now use the swipe unlock. Which works perfectly. But the fingerprint scanner was pretty accurate and lasted me over 2 years. The paint at the sides is also peeling but that's not that important. All in all it's a great phone. It stayed in top condition for 2 years, it has a fantastic camera. I got the Note 4 initially for the camera. It takes great pictures, even through a microscope, which I needed. And the screenshot and S pen feature allows me to write on screenshots of the pictures I take. Not to mention that the optical image stabilization feature makes it easier to take high quality pictures even at hard angles and/or with shaky hands. And I actually love the feel of the faux leather back. The sound is okay, not too soft but also sometimes not loud enough when using without earphones. The earphones that came with the phone lasted me about a year or a bit more. But that depends on the person I think. I tend to be rough on my earphones. In other news, my sister has a Note 3 that she's still using and she's had it for almost 4 years. I think the only thing that's a problem at this point is the battery. The usb 3 port charger it came with stopped working after a year or 2. But I think she uses a external hard drive cable to charge it now. The regular usb 2 charger just charges it too slowly. All in all Samsung phones tend to be great. You just need to make sure to have a cleaner/ antivirus on it and clean it by removing pictures etc. before it gets too full. And put it down for a bit when it gets too hot or install a cleaner app that can also help with cooling the phone. One that you can run whenever the phone gets hot. Mine is/was still as quick as when I first bought it (before the fluid incident). It only froze up and had the fingerprint scanner stop working when I was on vacation and didn't remove all the excessive pictures I took in time even though the phone warned me it was low on space.
Because of the less-savvy Note 3 users who were complaining about it. They'd lose their micro-USB 3.0 cables and were totally unaware that it was backwards compatible with all of the micro-USB 2.0 cables that they had laying around everywhere in the house. So they ended up with dead phones and complained to to Samsung. Samsung then went back to USB 2.0 with the Note 4.
+Connel Angus Rice I'm not very sure it's only because of that, or it would have been very stupid, they could simply have made a pub in which the UBS 3.0 was shown as a advantage for its rapidity, &, a special motion to show the retrocompatibility, which would have been a double advantage here! Like that, it seems there isn't any inconvenient, so the USB 3.0 must have a compromise part. That's just my view :)
Bob Coco well... lol... of course it's not just only that. There are a few reason why, and that being one of them (the stupidest one). Samsung felt the bulk of their consumers weren't really taking advantage of the Note 3's USB3 capability. Samsung did say their users who called in didn't even know what USB3 was and thought it was a new fancy unneeded connector and that they wanted the old more compatible connector back because they had a bunch of micro-USB 2.0 wires laying around. SMH
Connel Angus Rice ok, you may be right, I trust you on it anyway, even if I still find it's a waste, since it's not that hard to explain to the mass in 1min what's USB 3.0... ^^
I have the note 5 and I love it!!!!! I had recently owned the dreaded iPhone 5c I hated that phone so I switch to Android and it was the best decision of my life I absolutely love my Note 5
Thanks MKBHD . I hv been using this device for over an year and its still rocking after the nougat update . really thankful to ur detailed reviews. Also based on ur recommendation I bought Audio technica Ath m50x . best headphones ever .
+Nate L. (Nuclear Lasagna) Not really, just root it (not in the Australian way) and install a custom rom, there are plenty to choose from depending on you're tastes. You can always change it again if you don't like it. There is a degree of risk though.
+Alex Rafe its hard to find a root tool and custom rom that works because the new Samsung phones use an exyons ( probably spelt that wrong ) processor which most phones don't so there isn't allot of support from custom roms
+Nate L. (Nuclear Lasagna) just don't be stupid and you'll be fine. is you are unable to root it you probably don't have the intelligence to have a rooted device.

it's possible to make a premium phone that doesn't feel like you're holding a bar of soap.

Yep, I may have to look into getting this when my upgrade is available.
Samsung could have done what other manufacturers like Oppo have done and make a tray that can take both the micro-sd card and the sim.
you do realize they get rid sd card slot so the phone can have much faster internal storage
+Robert Lamoa I understand that, but since I keep media like podcasts, music, videos and photos on my sd card, it is something that I looked forward to. Memory cards are cheaper than internal storage.

He has all these phones while I'm still here rocking the iPhone 4s... Fml man...
+Parsa Vahdati yeah me too
+Parsa Vahdati Im rockn' the iPhone 6s Plus :D
+Parsa Vahdati I actually have a cracked iPhone 4 that I use as a mp3 player, for my room- one that I'd never use again as a phone on my computer desk :D
Same
+Parsa Vahdati Still have mine :/
Sony Z5 Premium might be the best phone for 2015 and early 2016, 2 days of battery life (with a 4k display), Expandable micro SD Card
+Vlad TMS
And rubbish camera.
+sic22l Nope 23 megapixle with some new sony magic that lets it shoot pictures crazy fast. Any ways sony has never been known for bad cameras (from what I know).
The__Watcher Sony's flagships have always had pretty bad cameras compared to their competitors. This time is no different, Z5 takes very noisy phonos with washed out details.
www.esato.com/board/printpost.php?post=3226230
sic22l I hope they can fix that with a software update, it can continously record 4k video up to 38 minutes and a crazy fast auto focus
+sic22l Yeah that can be fixed with a software update. Also cut them some slack that phone is not even released for public consumption yet.
I was watching that Note 2 review, and then jumped to this video. And damn, Samsung AND Marques changed a lot xD
im getting the note 5 In the nex 4-5 days from Ebay. Im so happy
i have always been brooke but now i finaly can buy a 3 year old used phone :D
David Drejer lmao you're so Lucky
Note 5 still looks premium. I'm still using my Note 4 with Rugged case :)
@@TsunaXZ i have a note 5
3:55 oxacore? Are we going back to animal power these days?
haha
I didn't notice at first but yeah note 5 is all about raw power
+Joseph Productions you read my mind bro.
fucking died when that "thats what she said" part dropped LOL
MKBHD the best on TH-cam!
The Note 5 is the most amazing piece of electronics I have ever owned. Love it. Not a day goes by that I don't learn something new about its capabilities, and it does everything flawlessly. Best smartphone I have ever used, and AT&T provides superb service.
seriously ? i am kinda bored of it ,i mean its great but i really want an iPhone or a nexus device now !
when you get a iphone you'll get bored and want the latest phone again lol, I just sold my iphone 6s and got the s7 and Im bored already waiting for the iphone 7 now xD
+Hassan Khalid if u rly like stock android yeah go for it. but nexus gets really boring bc the features are lacking. but u do get the stock experience and early updates
I've noticed that sometimes my internet connection on my Note 5 sometimes randomly just gets slow. Has that ever happened with you?
I'm just now upgrading from one of these to a Pixel 5. Overall I felt it was fine for the time but I can really feel it starting to struggle for the few apps I use.
TH-cam is recommending in 2020 when S11/S20 is on the edge of launch date
You always make the best tech videos and I always look forward to every new one coming out. Keep up the awesome work.
Should I just wait for the next Note or go ahead and get the Note 5? I'm so tired of iOS!
You gonna love the Note 5 it's great with marshmallow now and then I recommend you get it in gold color😄👌
just wait for the next. It'll come in few months. Around August I suppose.
Amazing piece of hardware ! This phone won't let you down ,but unless if you are the kind of person who gets bored of anything he uses for couple of months ,you would get bored ,because i am ! really want an IPhone or a nexus ,why are you bored of ios tho?
the next note is just round the corner. so its better to wait for it!!
Don't wait, you don't know if you'll live till the next note
Can we buy a note 5 in 2018??
Do make a video about that...please...
Does it even use the RAM in multitasking? Or does it have the problem all Lollipop phones do, where it can't use the ram to hold many apps in the background?
Sadly it doesn't hold many apps in ram. I love my note 5 except for that part of it.
Sadly it doesn't hold many apps in ram. I love my note 5 except for that part of it.
Samsung is the only OEM with the aggressive RAM management buddy.
+Doug Hawkes You're welcome. 😊
+Lance Douglas
Is there a reason for that? Have Samsung ever explained? It seems weird...
I still have my note 5 in 2022. Still functional and usable unlike new phones now that is easy to get broken.
Got this in my recommended but funny enough that I'm still watching this on my note 5
Edit) my note 5 was in perfect condition but I've now upgraded to the s20 ultra 😅
Same
My s pen broke lmao
@@lakshanvijayathas2958 yeah same here, this is the second unit lol ...
SAME, bro I'm still rocking the Note 5
Same here...but I'm running out of storage😢
"Thats what she said"... wasnt expecting that from ya. I bust out laughing at work lol. Great videos!!
I'm buying a second hand one today!! I'm so excited
Zandah Starick did it come yet?
Rollyz nice.
You and your videos are the best out there - please pursue a career in tech review...
Ok, Buy an LG then
True
good luck with the ui
+lordcron
Spot on Lord, I agree 100%. Design is only one aspect. Its the features of the removable battery and expandable storage which we all need. Lets wait for Note 6 !
+lordcron cause there competing with the iPhone 6S plus, which you can't expand the storage same with the battery, lol they figure if Apple makes millions, they can to, and thats why the GS6 was a flop and is this phone, and its a shame i actually really liked the Galaxy Notes, and this coming from an Apple user in general,
2019 ?? For these beast of a phone
What "weird USB 3 port" is on the Note 4? I thought it was the Note 3 that had the weird port? I have a Note 4, it has a normal looking port.
Yeah. Good catch. Probably just misspoke.
+Linus Lee It was either he knew something we all did not or it was just a misspoken thought. :P Glad I am not going crazy.
+anUNBOXING // Mobile Tech he was thinking of the Note 3
+anUNBOXING // Mobile Tech The number is about data transfer, not a plug type.
+sic22l what was weird about the Note 4 port?
I still have this phone... It's amazing how well the camera held up
7:54 ?
+Omar samsung is gonna have a fit about that
looooool
"He could've been killed" - Sir Alex Ferguson.
Hint hint. iPhone review coming up.
Lol.....its a subliminal message to apple....!!
I bought Note 5 white cuz Note 7 was slain. There is no big difference between these both phones. I love my Note 5
It's 2020 and im still using my note 5.😁
how's it?
You are really good and fun to listen to! Thanks for the reviews man! Love it!
I think Samsung Galaxy note 4 is the best phone ever.
Lmao
Yawo Elevn I want the note 5 really build quality is so nice but I rather 128 gb sd Card and battery kit support
Who Dr that's exactly why I didn't buy the note 5. It's amazing but you can't use your own memory card.
It only froze up and had the fingerprint scanner stop working when I was on vacation and didn't remove all the excessive pictures I took in time even though the phone warned me it was low on space.
why would someone put the s pen backwards??
+Mateo Garza MTZ. Because they're fucking retarded
+Mateo Garza MTZ. Maybe you are using the phone in a place with low light and you dont even notice.
+2011LS3SS Exactly
+Miguel Guerrero Umm no
+Mateo Garza MTZ. bcoz samsung users are stupid, thats why.
Why would they switch back to USB 2.0?
SMH
Connel Angus Rice
ok, you may be right, I trust you on it anyway, even if I still find it's a waste, since it's not that hard to explain to the mass in 1min what's USB 3.0... ^^
+Jehan Kateli Wtf I see you in almost every video's comment section
just bought my note 5 yesterday loving it so much
I have the note 20 ultra now but man, do I really miss the note 5
Goodbye iPhone 5, hello Samsung Galaxy 5!
Note* 5
IEWestSide I got mine! Good riddance to iPhone.
E. Lin how you liking it? Why did you switch?
Galaxy note 5 ,Not galaxy 5
Kalrv Thona Because I desire a true smart phone that is basically a pocket laptop without the confines of limited crappy iOS. ^_^
Fascinating In 2019... 32 gig storige, no SD card, but 😂 Missed headphone jack on note 10 though. Do you remember multiwindow?
nice review would love to watch your reviews in 1080p60!
Weird how things are so good compared to back then now
I have the note 5 and I love it!!!!! I had recently owned the dreaded iPhone 5c I hated that phone so I switch to Android and it was the best decision of my life I absolutely love my Note 5
Anybody else got this video recommended 8 years later?
Thanks MKBHD . I hv been using this device for over an year and its still rocking after the nougat update . really thankful to ur detailed reviews. Also based on ur recommendation I bought Audio technica Ath m50x . best headphones ever .
Watching this on my S24 Ultra.
If only this phone had a Google play edition...
ikr i really hate how this phone and all samsung phones are like perminantly samsungified with skins and bloatware. ;-;
Alex Rafe i know you can root but i am afraid my info could get stolen or my phone could get wiped and my daily backup failed.
+Nate L. (Nuclear Lasagna) just don't be stupid and you'll be fine. is you are unable to root it you probably don't have the intelligence to have a rooted device.
Amazing phone thanks! This is better than the iPhone 6S! I am going to get a Note 5 in the future!
IEWestSide
Okay,Thanks!
IEWestSide
Okay, Thanks! I will be sure to remember that!
+Tripp Only the Gear VR is epic, definitely worth the price

+Nicholas Mercer try again
Same bruh
I was about to comment that. Lol
I have the Note 4, and the Note 5 doesn't give me any reason to want an upgrade.
love this phone, best phone i ever own
My old phone. It was great while it lasted now I upgraded to the Note10+ and I'm loving it even more.

Watching this on my Note 5...in 2020!😂 I don't know wht this appear in my suggestions but okay.👌 I'm from the future and the world right now basically in lockdown because of the coronavirus (COVID-19).😢 It's Ramadan...the Muslims are fasting and oh by the way I'm from Malaysia.🇲🇾 Why did you read this 'till the end? I don't know but thank you.
I'm surprised that Samsung hasn't copied front facing speakers yet :/ Maybe they're waiting for Apple to do it first.
That battery life is piss poor. Also, you still use Spotify even though it turned evil in the privacy department recently?
with power saving and auto brightness you can get over 5 hrs
the battery life is pretty good actually. it gets me on average a whole day! i actually find myself trying to kill the battery so that i can charge it up all the way before i go to sleep! xD
android privacy manger?
+Jorge Hernandez I find the same to I use it all day then I wait till the next morning to charge it up
I get great battery life with heavy use
Watching this on S22 ultra, the note line is kinda diverged into ultra and fold. The smartphones have come a long wayy
Not a big fan of stock Android
Install a custom rom then
+andrew Bentley a launcher will suffice
+CosAnime AU sure but if it you want to change the look of all the ui then you would have to root
Why not?
but ios is shit :) Andriod more good free programs and gaimes.. not need pay
+Marques Brownlee Hey Marques, is that a launcher that you are using on that phone?
+Mathew M John I'd like to know it as well.
+sic22l It is running the latest version of Touchwiz on top of Android Lollipop 5.1.
He mentioned that in the video, I didn't watch the full video at first.
I dont think Its launcher... Samsung changed icon style on newest phones... ;) also... theme store

Ugh the wait is unreal, i'm getting mine this mon - fri. HYPE!
I hate when people judge a phone and they haven't even used the phone or experience it. :-)
+Jesus H. Christ. I owned the note 4..... I'm not gong back after using the note 5
+Jesus H. Christ oh yeah your facts have swayed me to thinking otherwise. lol. facts and statistics are used to gain trust and credibility for deceit.
+Jesus H. Christ the note 5 sucks. i rather use the note 3 or iphone
Why would anybody put the S Pen in backwards? -_- Like, bruh, common sense.
+Eddie L. Rosado had a customer who did that and came in the store with it stuck expecting us to replace the phone
+Sheila Broflovski nope
+Sheila Broflovski I wish I could say that to people but I like my job lol
Lets say if you give your phone to a child, they are not going to know better and probably put it in backwards.
Why the fuck would you give your kid your phone? -______-
I have the Note 2 should I upgrade to this one?
You decide if u can wait until september 2016 get the note 6 if u cant get the note 5
Definitely
I have the Note 2 too, and I'm upgrading to the Note 5👍
ahahah i just upgraded to the note 5
+VirtueZ fuck with it! PEACE
Loved this phone when I had it. It's true- that click of the s pen is addicting. I used to just stand there at work and click it, in my pocket lol.
