Prior to signing up for Medicare in March of this year, Matt 's videos were very helpful to me, some I watched more than once. All of them taught me how to navigate Medicare effectively. I'm still watching Matt !. thanks.
Thank you for producing this video. I will be applying for Medicare coverage starting March 1, 2025 (I will turn age 65 during that month), but do not expect to apply for Social Security benefits until I reach my full retirement age of 67. Your video was very helpful in showing first time Medicare applicants how to apply for medical coverage without accidentally applying for Social Security as well. Glad I watched your video several weeks before starting the application process online! 26:00
Thank you. I think SS can certainly do a better job of communicating the process. There were several times in that application that I was genuinly worried that I was accidently applying for Social Security Income.
Thanks for the video, Matthew. Fortunately, I was already receiving SS when I turned 65 so I was auto-enrolled in Medicare this past April. I spoke to Jordan in your office about a month ago since my spouse will be turning 65 in April 2025. I wanted to get some preliminary numbers since we'll both be on a Supplement next year. She was very friendly, helpful and informative and gave me some options to think about for when I talk to her again in January about both our Supplement options.
@@MedigapSeminars I am 66 lost my job on March 15, 2024. I lost my insurance but I thought I will find a job quickly so never applied for Medicare. Its been 6months no job yet and want to apply for medicare. I am still looking for a job, when can I apply for medicare?............
Thank you. I do have a question though. I declined Part B for now but would like to start it when I turn 65 (on SSDI), do you know how I would go about that? Is it through SS website or Medicare website or somewhere else?
What I need to find out is if we have an ACA plan, and we need that for only January and February (since Medicare would begin March 1), how is that policy cancelled at the end of February.
I turned 66 April 16th of this year. I started an online application for Medicare 3rd week of April because I planned to leave my job May 9th. I haven't submitted my application so I have a verification number for when I return to complete the form. I'm not applying for SS benefits just yet. When I went back to the form, it says they'll use the date I started my application and should submit it by Oct. 19 or i won't have my Medicare benefits. The thing is, my husband who turned 70 this Sept. said he'll continue to work so I still have health insurance coverage. Is there a way to cancel the online application? Or I'll just let it expire and apply when my husband leaves his job? There's no option to cancel.
I'm retired from civil service and continued my FEHB. I'm paying close to $800 a month for my wife and I. Would it be better to drop this coverage and just get the supplemental plan? It has to be cheaper, right?
FEHB gets very expensive relative to Medicare + a supplement. In addition, the benefits are standardized. I believe a supplement is a much better deal. Use this and we will email you prices medigapseminars.org/request-a-quote/
Thank you for making all these videos, so helpful!!! In carefully listening to your advice/guidance, I have never heard you say the money paid toward the deductible amount is only good for 2 months. It then gets flushed somewhere, then starts over at $0 paid. Every two months any medical services have to paid in full out of pocket. Is this true?
No that is not true. But I understand where the confusion comes from. The deductible for Part B outpatient services is an annual deductible, you pay it once during any calendar year. The deductible for Part A inpatient services is a "per event" deductible. It resets when you are discharged from the facility for 60-days. However, all Medicare supplement plans pay that deductible no matter how many times it resets.
@@MedigapSeminars I cannot fully express my total thanks for your answer. During an actual visit with a local Medicare broker, I was told due to my age bracket, ANY deductible paid would be completely erased every two months. Shock does not even cover how I felt when I heard that. I had brought a folder and paper(yes real paper)to write information down. After a minute or two of my brain processing that information, I asked the agent at least two more times, writing it down each time, the answer was the same. ANY deductible goes away every two months due to the age bracket I am in. No other age bracket has this deductible flushing every two months. I clarified this with the agent several times again. Again, thank you for all your videos, and I will see if there is someone from your company in my area.

You get a new Initial Enrollment period when you turn 65. It will be the same process through the SS website as I detailed in this video.

Good question. I don't know, but I would just let it expire.
