Somehow, I haven't loaded any other samples into the MV-1 yet. Besides recording external synths, driven by MV-1 midi. I found it comfy to reserve a kit track to record external synth performance into 16pads. So it can play on sequencer mode. As vocal track does not play unless you are in Song mode, it would be nice if Roland can release Vocal track for generic use. Cool track, Gabe! Play more, show more Roland tricks (for ex., how easy is to assign preset controls by holding Edit + rotating one of the 3 Ctrl knobs (maybe its obvious feature with 101/707, its my first Roland box). I'm kinda happy it does not expose all the possible tone parameters thru this interface, otherwise i'd stuck tweaking lol :)
It's deep! Didn't know the ARP altered velocities.... Just found out songs let's you put 99 sections together, not just 16. Thankyou for putting another great vid up. I tried to copy your previous one...5 times...and ended up with 5 really different tracks. Too easy to experiment.
Very Danny Elfman. That's a good thing. I know you're not a vocalist but would still love to see your creativity with the vocal section. I bet you could do some mind blowing stuff. Please.
Thanks! I have worked with vocalists a bit in the past (my songs "Burnout" and "Suspended Animation" are the ones I'm the most proud of). In the case of the MV-1, I'm definitely planning on using the vocal track for synths when I can get around to it.
@@GabeMillerMusic in fact marketing about MV1 focus a lot on the voice track that has to be recorded throughout the whole track but cannot be exported in Zen Daw. So singing withe the built in Autotune should be ok anyway :)
Hmm...Very Nice hook! Jeez man, I hope you can hold onto this device. I simply will not buy the 101-ever, it is a spendy piece of kit. :-) . Finally-you really should put an ad in a local paper or equivalent and get a vocalist in for just a one hour session. We are all curious about how the vocal tracks work,. Thanks, Gabe!
I probably won't bring in a vocalist in that way, but I definitely plan to use the input for synth tracks, or possibly a pre-recorded vocal if I decide to remix something. Glad you like the hook, it's one of my favorites I've written recently.
Thanks! I haven't tried the MPC One yet, but I plan to in the future. I'll probably do a video comparing a bunch of the more expensive grooveboxes eventually.
Enteraros bien de las cosas que os las estoy explicando, como va la evolucion del asunto musical, configuraciones MIDIS..,etc..etc...bien animo y vayamos todos con alegrias..
I know you're a busy guy but if you could do a "How to make a tech house track" video (including mixing/mastering) that would be amazing and extremely appreciated. I'm brand new to production and have purchased the MV-1 and would love some tips/inspiration on the music I'm predominantly making!
Bad ass tune as usual! But gotta say, the most impressive thing about this piece of gear is the multi track audio over USB...WHO ELSE IS DOING THIS??? This needs to be a thing.
I bought a verselab. Im trying to figure out a few things Can I live loop OFF THE EXTERNAL OR LINEIN , or do I have to wait for each individual sample to be loaded. Also which part of the usb i/o is the linein/external input that would show up on a daw. It’s a 20/4
I'd make aggressive use of the built in EQ, volume, and panning controls, as well as the built in mastering. There's also the motion designer for automation. I'd probably change my composition a bit too if I knew I couldn't sidechain.
Hi don't know if u ever tried the 707 but trying to find out if the sounds and samples are same as verselab at all or if they are the same sound banks thanks
I recorded all of the individual tracks via USB, then used LFO Tool. I could have also used sidechain compression, but I like the control LFO Tool gives me.
Ive only had one for a few days but dont you find the section/song workflow annoying how you have to create new sections everytime you want a different combination of layers. It would be much smarter if you could record your seqs, then have a section mode where you could layer seqs and record variations in layering.
I love synthwave. This machine sound too cold. Very very cold. I don't like It. I have some valves in my studio. Not good for this genre. Anyway for hip hop..and modern genre...Is ok.

Excellent Work!! I love this Synthwave song, Gabe!

Good vid gabe! I'd like to see a comparison of this to the mpc one or maschine+.

I came for the music, but I stayed for the Bitchin' Shades!

I think the MV-1 Rocks Trap Bettah
I've got a more trap style beat/video in the works, stay tuned...

Yeah Roland has that feature with this and the MC's, I'd love to see other companies follow suit
A lot of the Elektron gear also does this with overbridge
@@jackschosser I wish it all did...sigh.
Nice work!
This tune reminds me of 8bit and 16bit chiptunes like Castlevania or Bionic Commando. :)

So you prefer to master in DAW instead of using the Verselab's own mastering?
Yes, I do. I get a bit more control/tools in the DAW so I like using it for mixing and the final mastering.
so, its time to sell the 101 and tracks?
DO NOT do that!
Definitely not, I still love both devices. The MV-1 is really powerful, but not nearly as immediate, portable, or jam friendly.
For the dawless crowd do you have any ideas about getting those finishing touches?
I'd make aggressive use of the built in EQ, volume, and panning controls, as well as the built in mastering. There's also the motion designer for automation. I'd probably change my composition a bit too if I knew I couldn't sidechain.

It’s the same engine and the presets are pretty much the same, I think. (I have a 707 but not a Verselab)
A lot of them are pretty similar, and you can always load more presets onto either (they both use the same synth engine).
ducked? how?

Oh, sorry, Gabe. But I just don't like your chord progression in that track :)
