Jean, Thanks for the kind words and taking the time to watch this video. I really apologize for the lack of content lately, but look forward to some huge changes coming to this channel soon. Dan
Nicely done. Works good. Buying mine tomorrow. It went on sale at the right time for me cant wait! Me an my wife heat our home with maple and birch. This should do the trick. Thank you!!! GOD BLESS.
Joey, Thanks for the kind words and for taking the time to watch. I've been super busy just trying to survive on my off grid property, but should have some time to crank out some videos soon. Dan
I got one and yes, it's a light duty but it has split everything I have put to it, green birch and oak. I felt I just couldn't justify a $1800 big splitter. On the plus side if you are splitting by yourself this splitter is plenty fast , especially if you do small batches like me. It is very easy to move around, it will fit in my tractor bucket, and has a small footprint for storage. It does start a little hard. It runs forever on a tank of gas. It is perfect for my purposes. I guess durability is the real issue and that remains to be seen. I have friends who have the big splitters and the're still going strong after many ,many years and this splitter is definitely not over built like the big ones. I do 3 or 4 cords a year at most and so far it's perfect for me.
Hey AJ, I find the saying on the shirt gives me great peace of mind!😁 Thanks for taking the time to watch the video and comment. It's greatly appreciated. Sorry I haven't been posting lately but there are some huge changes coming to the channel soon. Take care. Dan
Thanks brother, I spotted one used and decided to buy it! I don't think I'll ever really need a 22 ton or more... will be splitting about 10 cord a year, mostly Aspen too which is relatively soft so it's hopefully gonna get through those logs easily.
Hi, I will have to look into it. I currently took another viewer's suggestion and am making a piece of pipe to go over the lever. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. It is greatly appreciated. Dan
How many litres of gas (just approximate) would you burn to split a full one cord of wood to standard size for a larger wood stove that handles 16-20" logs? Just asking for your best guess to guage how much fuel it may burn per cord.
I have this splitter i split a few cords a year, only oak. It will handle big logs. The only problems are, its low to ground and cant be pulled behind a tractor.
Thanks for the kind words and taking the time to watch the video. I would say that it is a light duty log splitter at best. I am working on another log splitter but want to really wring it out before putting out a video. Stay tuned. Dan
Hi, These log splitters are really designed to split the wood along the grain. I am not sure a small 9 ton splitter would have enough power to split the wood in a cross-grain direction. Thanks. Dan
This would not be cross grain splitting. Cross grain would be laying on its' side but positioned sideways; something you do not want to attempt. @@semperparatusoffgrid
There is another version with a hitch, but still not for highway speeds lol @@semperparatusoffgrid I think just sold in Canada. Model 201124 Looks like a slightly different engine, and does not have the log cradles.
Hi Zach, Not sure how this splitter would do with almond, as it is a hard wood. Most of the wood in western Washington are soft woods. I would probably recommend something more powerful. Thanks for watching! Dan
I have the same one and it's total crap! It worked well the first week and that's about it. I took it to the repair shop (as per Champion's CSR advice) but even after that it's still crap. I regret buying this splitter.
Yeah, I wouldn't recommend it for heavy duty use. I use it for moderate wood processing. It has performed very well considering how hard I pushed it in my follow-up video. Thanks for taking the time to watch! Dan
Thank you for your time in creating this video.

Great Job! This one is my radar and I appreciate the well done review!
Me too she is on my radar and not for long I think, CanadianTire is having a sale on it, from 1199 CDN for 699 CDN almost have price.

Hook up a return spring to return the ram whenever your hand is removed from the lever. It's also safer that way and will speed things up a little.

No you don’t need a return, you pop it back and it’ll automatically return on its own and un click once it fully returns

What kind of wood are you splitting? Hardwood? Softwood? Species? Thanks.

Thanks Chad! I never thought I would see the day where I got excited over a log splitter!
Looking at getting this and interested. Good video. Sucks it's made in China though.

If the log is too long, you can split it standing on both ends

La maquina puede servir bien para trabajo ligero pero habria que colocarla unos 50 cm mas alta y el operario deberia utilizar proteccion auditiva .
Did it come with the hitch adapter to be able to transport it with your trailer receiver?
Hi Boxerdog,,
Nope, no trailer hitch comes with it, The wheels are pretty small so I suspect it would not survive being towed.

It needs much bigger wheels and a longer adjustable front leg.
Those logs would split 10 times quicker with a good axe and a lot less backache from bending down
If your back is that bad a axe isn't going to do you too good lol. Buy your wood and stop whining
Damn it’s slow
