    What I observed is that Vollering was visibly faster through the corners. Especially that 180 deg roundabout, she railed it through there.

      A lot of people get stuck on the idea that a TT bike cannot take corners fast, and so they don't. But really they do fine, set it up so you have a good cornering position on the 'hoods' practice, figure it out. Then if you get any local TTs that are twisty you have a huge advantage over people that don't use their TT bikes.

      Yeah, now Patrick only needs to stop doing what all the other English commentators do, which is to try to make Niewiadoma an English name, because it's not. It's a Polish name. Please, Patrick, be the first English commentator to get Kasia's name right before the climbing starts. (Hint: You can always use Google Translate to hear how foreign names are pronounced.)

    From the time Grace Brown comes out of the bars with her flat to the time she pedals again, post change is ~35 seconds, maybe covering 100m in that time. It was probably a minute before she got up to speed again. She would have won for sure.

    Today Vollering went 1.2% faster than the next three riders... Remember Jonas in stage 16 of the 2023 Tour? He went 4.8% faster than Pogacar and 8.1% faster than Van Aert... I'm sure there are dozens and dozens of performances with more separation

    Something about the punctures. Big chance that the parcours was cleansed just before the race. This is done by little carts using rotating metal brooms. When the tips of this metal brooms hit the tamac, they sometimes get pulled of, leavinfg a piece of metal sharp as a nail.

    Nordsgaard Bjerg gears were not working due to lack of batteri. She was stuck in 56/10 for most of the race, meaning she could not sprint out of corners.

      A short TT isnt an indicator for the rest of the race, but looking at the last 2 years its most likely Vollering will dominate this race.

    Teams really need to reconsider the marginal perf gains for TT specific tyres vs the high punture risks. It's crazy that someone can get a flat in a 6km ride. Put on some GP5000s and be safe.

    No. I think the Olympic Gold medal performance by Grace Brown was better. I like Demi Vollering, but I think she had a home ground advantage, whereas the Olympic result was on neutral ground for both and DV went down by over a full minute! In comparison GB lost this TT by 24 seconds. One might also argue it is harder to race in the wet.

      It’s a throwback to the old days of A&B stages. Good to see something different as the sprint stage would’ve likely played out the same way had it been two hours longer. But this provides more action in a day

    She has probably trained on the course which would give her that advantage but unless Dygert had a problem she may have lost it on taking the corners and the roundabout very slow from what I saw of one corner. Also Demi drove it up those bridges which gave her quite a few seconds. It is not the first ITT that Demi has won in this way.

    Totally got to respect the ladies on this really stupid schedule. How did they not get a bigger break between the Olympics and the tour? Also, I know why they put 2 stages in one day, but it really takes away from the winner and sponsors of the early win. Again, great job ladies.

    So what´s up with professional cycling the huge amounts of flats, I ride bikes for over a decade and I rarely flat. I only have issues when the tyres are very old and used...Brand new tyres should not flat like that...I suspect that they are playing a lot with the pressure and end up with pinch flats...

      They use thinner, and less puncture resistant rubber that is faster, also think abt how many rides are racing. If you have a one percent chance to flat in a tt like this it’s not that high but when 160 ppl do it someone will probably flat

      Maybe the answer is spec tyres that are slower but more puncture resistant. It may impact teams with tyre sponsors, but on the other hand being "The Official Bike Tyre of Le Tour De France" would probably be worth a few Euros that the ASO could redistribute back to the teams as compensation.

    For a start it was only 6km and pan flat.
    And the best (gold medallist ) gets a flat and looses 30 sec.
    While it was close between the to 10, hardly a great TT when the best rider does not win. 😡😡😡😡
