    The Best Selection of Universal HID & LED Projectors: www.theretrofitsource.com/pro...
    PROJECTOR-PERFECTION: There are other projectors that produce brighter hot spots. There are other projectors that have unholy amounts of width….But no other option creates the perfect balance of width & hotspot lux (aka distance) quite like the 5.0. In order to create the ultimate weapon for driving in the dark; Morimoto baked in best practices from a variety of well-respected OEM and aftermarket projectors. With over a decade of experience, we trust that their latest and greatest equates to the perfect all-around performer.
    ******************************
    DISTANCE: The hot spot on the new 5.0 bi-xenon is roughly 70% brighter than the already-impressive 4.0 design. While the high beam unloads a lot more volume of light; virtually no additional intensity has been reserved. What that means: You get the maximum benefit from your bulbs & ballasts in low beam mode…where drivers spend 99% of their time. The controlled decrease in intensity from the hyper-hotspot down through the foreground results in a distribution of light that makes driving at night very comfortable & safe. Why? Because too much intensity on the ground too close to the front of your vehicle will make your eyes adjust, compromising your ability to see very far. Science!
    WIDTH: Power is nothing without control, and even the best D2S bulbs and 50w ballasts won’t always result in a satisfying output when projected out on the road improperly…so the KEY is really how that light is deployed. Thanks to the beauty in the center of this beast [all-new optics package + flat cast cutoff shield] You really end up with a beam pattern that’s extremely wide and flat, with zero bowing. But that’s not all: The position of the shield has been fine-tuned so that there is a band of intense light that spans side-to-side directly under the cutoff line. RX350 Bi-xenons, S2000’s, LS430s, SC430’s….all of the best from Koito now need to bite their tongue because that’s all they had on Morimoto prior to the 5.0 party!
    ******************************
    ANTI-REFLECTIVE COATING LENS: The blue tint to the lens is more than marketing fluff too. That’s an AR coating, and it serves a real purpose. AR coatings increase the transmission of light through the glass all while decreasing bleed. The result? 10% more light and less glare compared to a traditional clear lens. The blue hue may not be for everybody, but in this case, we’re down. Read more about AR coatings HERE.
    HARDWARE UPGRADES: Forget the finicky 2 piece bulb holders found on the 4.0s, these come standard with the MotoHolders - an all-new one-piece design that’s far easier to work with. The new CNC machined aluminum lock rings are not only pretty looking, but they’re 300% stronger than the old die-cast part. To tighten them, Morimoto now offers an optional lock-ring tightening tool that works with any 10mm socket set. Torx screws now hold the lens holder on too instead of Philips screws. While the 5.0 get a big boost in the performance department, it’s also clear they’ve paid attention to the details in the parts department too. We like it!

    JB Weld on lock the ring? OMG. What were you thinking? That ain't never coming off again. Face palm...

    • @RetrofitSource
      @RetrofitSource  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      You can definitely remove JB weld! What would YOU rather do?
      1. Have your headlight fall apart while driving?
      2. Use a heat gun to remove the JB weld later?
      Most people retrofit their headlights once and never have to worry about it again! This is VERY normal, and most headlight builders will recommend doing this as well.

    Great vid. High temp locktite rather than JB weld would have been cleaner.

    hi. isnt the h4 washer suppose to align the projector because of the cut out in the threaded end and stop it from rotating. or does the projector it still have room to rotate?

    • @RetrofitSource
      @RetrofitSource  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it does help stop the projector from rotating, however, there is still some room for it to rotate.

    Would it be possible to change my OEM D1S projector for a set of these Morimoto D2S 5.0 projectors? The 45 degree slope that it outputs looks way better than the almost 90 degree slope of my OEM D1S projectors.

    The positioning washer makes my G5R more inclined than centred. Is this how it's on most cars? I had to remove the groove to make the projector centered and fit in the factory headlight housing with the washer. But that makes my projector loose even though I had tightened the lock nut 😔

    • @RetrofitSource
      @RetrofitSource  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Amjath! The G5R should be a simple install, you won't want that projector loose in the headlight. Can you take pictures of the issue and send them to us so we can help? Thanks!

    I have mine installed, I found a wall out from 25' and I have the projector's leveled and aimed, but one side seems the kind of vibrating, I'm not sure if this is due to being over tightened or under tightened, any advice?

    • @RetrofitSource

      That projector would be a fantastic option, you would just need to do some custom wiring to adapt the power connector for the D4S system to the relay harness for the D2S kit. Question for ya:
      I ordered these 5.0’s for my 370z from another vendor online.
      I went through absolute HELL getting the bulbs seated with only that one small black lock ring.
      Basically what I had to do was insert bulb - put lock ring on - then - back bulb out in order to thread the lock ring
      Then! Try to align the two 180 prongs to finally cinch down the ring
      It’s as if I am missing something that should hold the bulb in first the. Lock ring over that part.
      Eventually I am going to want to upgrade my bulbs in the near future and I cannot imagine just using that single lock ring alone while the headlight is on the car
      We’re talking it took me 20 minutes per side JUST to put the stupid lock ring back on….
      So what am I missing here?
      Does the above mentioned kit ONLY have a lock ring? Or does it have a metal round thing that goes over the d2s bulb where you then place lock ring over?
      Please advise

    Your guys' instructions are fairly vague and generic and don't really allude to how much custom fit work is really required to get these kits in. I wasn't led to believe I'd have to heavily modify my housing with a dremel tool, but that's where I'm at. Also, which way is up on the projector housing? Wouldn't that be pertinent info?
