    Great video! Question, is the lining necessary for an Ogden Cami?

    • @shahrsews
      @shahrsews  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! The lining helps secure the the straps in place so it is necessary :)

    Thank you for your video. I haven't sewn in many many years. I bought the Ogden Cami pattern and some crinkly cotton. Now I'm realizing I shouldn't use the cotton for the lining? It might be too thick. Thoughts?
    I also thank you for the tip on the interfacing. I don't think I want to staystitch it. Hopefully they have it at fabricland.

    I made the Ogden Camisole and wasn't as pleased with it as you are. Yes, it's pretty and pretty uncomplicated. However, I had issues with the way the cami fit me. And looking at the one you made, I can see you have the same problem. The high bust area is too tight and causes the fabric to pull, making it look less flowy than it should look. Did you go back and make adjustments to this area? Thanks.

    • @shahrsews
      @shahrsews  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there! Great observation. I actually have this problem with most fitted tops I have tried so far that don't have a lot of ease built in. The issue for me stems from the fact that I have more of an athletic build so while my cup size isn't large, my chest comes out more and also my back/lats are wider than the average person. I have tried a number of adjustments (on this garment and others!) and I seem to create more issues with each adjustment I make. Long story short - I am currently working on drafting my own pattern that caters more to this body type.

    • @ritaadler-everett5392
      @ritaadler-everett5392 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@shahrsews Thank you Shahr! Maybe that's my issue as well. I have a broader, strong back. Good luck with self drafting of a cami. I'm still fairly new to sewing (just since covid lockdowns) and I've tried 3 times and no better luck. Haha Maybe I will try changing the location of the darts.

    • @shahrsews
      @shahrsews  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I find that when working off a pattern, the drafter of the pattern will have a bias towards whatever their general body type is and then all the sizes scale from that. Or, they can use standard measurements for what the "average" body type is in a given demographic. If you are outside that range, you will need try a couple times and tweak it to fit you. I am by no means an expert in fitting...I have also tried a few times with the Ogden Cami and not gotten it perfect. Good luck! There is tons of content out there on things like Broad Back Adjustments that may be helpful (although with the way the straps sit on the cami it would be hard to do).

      Have had several attempts at the ogden cami, trying various adjustments. For a simple pattern, it's hellish difficult to get right.
