Wow it took them that long to realize hey we need a way to make it so we don’t have to get the ball out of the hoop every time 😂 can you imagine how ridiculous it would be to watch an NBA game today like that?
Yeah Lambert Will from Herkimer Ny did that and had a small section in the museum till his family was trying to say he invited it months before Naismith did. So they got rid of all his memorabilia the family saved since then.
I think after his rookie season, the NBA wanted Shaquille O'Neal to dunk one-handed. I was watching live the first time he tore down a goal against Phoenix.
Dam! It really chance since the basketball hoop use to be a basket to a real hoop that’s so cool. I can’t believe people has to get up and get the ball from the hoop and come back and give it. I learned a lot thanks for making this video.
You literally skipped over the evolution of the breakaway rim. The NBA has had just two models. The Gared Snapback was introduced in 1981 and was the official rim of the NBA through 2008. In 2009 the Spalding Arena 180 became the official rim and still is to this day.

Great video, thanks. Always informative. 👍
First btw love your channel
That was a very cool and interesting video. 👍👍
This video renewed my spirit for basketball again, time to get back to my favorite childhood hobby thanks.
it’s crazy how far the sport 🏀 has come from a broken peach basket into iron rims
It's crazy that it took them 20 years to cut a hole in the bottom lol
From no dribbling to crazy crossovers, stepbacks, and between the legs.
Rebound rewind can be a Basketball historian
love ur vids

Not to crazy, you'd be surprised how much you don't need stuff when you don't have it
@@georgiaboy8000 and nobody on the face of the planet ever thought hey why don’t we try cutting out the bottom?

"The grand invention of cutting a hole at the bottom"💀
It took them a while to realize how annoying it’d be to do so
Yeah Lambert Will from Herkimer Ny did that and had a small section in the museum till his family was trying to say he invited it months before Naismith did. So they got rid of all his memorabilia the family saved since then.
Go to and stop 0:14 and zoom lebron's lightskin stare face 😂😂
Robert Williams on New Years Day 2023 bent the rim so bad, it took them almost 40mins to get it fixed. And they had to just use an entire new rim lmao

“ no one wants to play with balls if baskets aren’t involved” I beg to differ
I am sure that during those peach basket days, Udonis Haslem was Rookie Of The Year 😆. Nice video 👍🏾
My father took me to a my first basketball game in 1948. Bombers vs celtics. players smoked cigarettes while playing. The game has certianly evolved.
Bombers are likely defunct and basketball was not as popular then
Cigarettes while playing holy shit that's funny af
0:06 look how satisfying the basketball are jumping like saying hi :D
it took a decade and a half to add a "hole" in the net 15 years of poking the ball out with a staff. I hope the ball pokers got paid l
Only if Naismith got back to Lambert Will about his changes to the game
When did they add the magnets?
00:08 what do you mean by that
You should make history of the nba championship trophy
Yes please
Bro be bouncin a head
That nylon swish is therapeutic to hear lmao, miss those microphones that made the shots loud in the 2000s
the first sentence literally gave me a stroke lmao
The fact it took years for someone to think of cutting the bottom off is crazy
I mean I love playing with balls by themselves
can't believe that one of basketballs most rival enemy was the hoop not having a hole at the bottom
There should be no hole. Does golf have a hole at the bottom of the hole? No because it's anticlimactic
LeBron tattoo should read "I ❤️ China"
I have no idea what you just said in your intro😅😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love how he used Chris Paul for the length of the backboard
Very interesting

Years to simply just cut the bottom off is wild
I have a 1906 basketball ring
Thanks I could tell my teacher how basketball was made

I bet in the 1930s they used it for the goal.

"No one wants to play with balls" Yeah dude that hurts
You forgot to mention the springs in the back of the rim that causes the rim to bend when someone dunks. When was it added?
You literally skipped over the evolution of the breakaway rim. The NBA has had just two models. The Gared Snapback was introduced in 1981 and was the official rim of the NBA through 2008. In 2009 the Spalding Arena 180 became the official rim and still is to this day.
Also, don't see the smaller contoured backboard I had at my high school in the 60s..
“No one would just want to play with balls”💀💀💀💀
I play with my balls everyday
It took years to realize.... Man we need to cut the edge of the net.....
I think that swoosh sound was made in nba2k 2:39
Intro SUSSY
Tim Duncan wouldn't have approved of the second backboard.
yeah yeah
That peach basket is the vinyl era of basketball
A lot of power dunkers? There were like two. The most famous one was Daryl Dawkins and the one shown in the video is Chris Morris.
I remember when I watched the NBA in 1891 good times 😔😔😔
You didn’t watch it then unless you were a ymca member standing above those rails
I’m surprise there’s no mention of Darryl Dawkins?
Can we take a second to give props to Robert “TimeLord” Williams III… 1/1/23 caused a 45 minute delay due to a bent rim in the NBA.
Light em up Campy
Nylon wasn't invented till 1939, but I love your content

They should go back to that laundry basket from 1891. Way better
imagine if the sport we know now could've been called "peachbasket"
Fun fact: NBA didn't start until 1946

You’re actually wrong basketball was invented in North Korea😡 by my beautiful leader😁
I play the 1891 mod everyday
Nylon wasn't invented until 1938...
It took them 2 years to realize they should cut the net.
Pause 0:09 0:10
My guess is that the first nets may have been cotton. Nylon wasn't introduced until 1939.
3:15 Chris Paul for comparison
😭
Are u sure no one would want to play with balls if there were no hoops😅
Gosh this sounds like @SegaLordX.
bro i live 6 mins from springfeild MA
Nylon wasn't invented until the late-1930s. The nets in 1912 must have been cotton.
id rather play on a peach basket than double rim bro
I literally go to the y and it’s all true
Imagine dunking on the 1891 hoop💀💀 Ow..
You’d break the peach basket
