I didn't mind Connor in it , he was a bit cartoonish but as he can't act he just played it as crazy as he could and it mostly worked.
Jake is so authentic in his acting. He gives 100% to every single role, transforms himself and disappears into the character.
The movie was fun, had some really hilarious moments, and had the same over the top spirit of the original.

You must be unfamiliar with McGregor…clearly. His direction was simply to be a characature of himself.

Not a Connor fan myself and he was an amazing addition to the film. BUT he was right, should’ve been in theaters. Much worse movies go to theaters in 2024

He's a proper dub and he really excelled that in the movie man he was hilarious and awesome
Conor was very humble in his interviews. He said he was a white belt in acting and was there to learn. He did well I think for his 1st go around
McGregor was fantastic. Yes he was a cartoon character but that’s what they were going for. It balanced out so well with Jake’s stoic and cool Dalton. The 3rd act went completely off the rails. With all that said, I had a really fun time with the movie.
I’m not even sure Connor McGregor was even cast in the film, I think he just waddled on set and started acting a fool

Loved this movie. Knows what it is. super fun movie. and Gylenhals character Dalton was awesome. and Conor Mcgregor being Conor Mcgregor dialed up to 11 was perfect.
the CGI video game camera angles during the fights kinda ruined it.
This movie had issues for sure, but I have to be honest. I absolutely loved it. It was stellar!
I Conor was so awesome. Everyone looked like they were having a ball. Gyllenhall knocked it out the park yet again. This is a fun fun fun fun movie. This isn't lawrence of Arabia. This is one of the best popcorn films in many years.
They actually use the line *”Be Nice!”* during the final fight. Dalton (Jake) says it to Knox (McGregor) before getting kicked into the metal fence where the band in the bar plays.
Back in the day this movie would have been called “straight to video” It’s terrible, it’s a good thing it was never in theaters. Amazon saw what was obvious.
Even if it's the worst movie ever made this is a silly statement. Something that went straight to video still sold copies and made money. This simply will not make any. If it were in theaters at least it could make a couple million bucks at minimum
Bad movies going "straight to video" is a silly statement? Im not sure you have a foothold of the industry and the analytics to show this. Theatrical releases does not equal "a couple million bucks" you are just guessing, which is silly in itself. Sometimes you loose money. My statement was an opinion how much money they saved, and how I didn't like the movie. I can't see what John praised about this movie.@@josephleichtnam836
I saw both of these movies back to back and they were both good and mostly on the same level. Both fun and enjoyable movies.

I thought it was a fun movie, but it won't become a cult classic like the original. Gyllenhaal was great, as usual. I don't know why Connor McGregor is getting so much hate. He basically played a characature of himself, and it was pretty funny. The fight scenes were just too much, though. The fights in the original Roadhouse felt somewhat realistic. The fight scenes in this one felt like over-choreographed, over-produced mayhem, ripped straight out of a Fast and Furious movie.
I think McGregor played a transcendent Tazmanian Devil, I enjoyed the goof.
John’s bias against Conor is showing here lol we all know he hates the guy. He was one of the best parts of the movie
@@tacobell4542 “I was entertained”… So they did their job. Conor is a MMA fighter who has never acted before in his life. They were self-aware and told him to just be himself. You don’t eat a regular burger and go tell the chef that it wasn’t spicy enough. They did their job
It was a fun time, but it was a tad too long. Conor played Connor dialed up to 1,000.
10:35 - "This is a basic story" is a very bad argument. A pizza is a very basic recipe and still the results vary hougly by execution, kind of missing the point.

I low key liked it too. It reminded me of another ridiculous hyper aware action movie of this year : The Beekeeper (which I liked more than Roadhouse).
Coner is the one that says, "Be nice." At the end. Good movie.
It started off fun and then just fell off a cliff. The tone was all over the place from comedy to weird dark almost serial killer vibes. The third act was a complete mess that feels like that they didn't know what to do. Boat chases are never exciting. McGregor is a walking cartoon character. They dodged a bullet by not putting this into theaters, word of mouth would of killed the second weekend.
I personally thought Conor was fun to watch in this film. Fun movie. I loved it.
Really enjoyed watching the movie. But damn Conors acting was like someone trying to play Conor but the cheesiness turned up to 10000

The "Go get my phone" moment was hilarious.
The energy of the movie went up once Conor's character came on screen. I enjoyed his performance in the movie. Movie was good. Jake was great as always.
This may be the first time ever. I’ve listened to somebody review a movie and he literally said everything I was thinking. I could not agree more with him.

This was such a disappointing movie. Conor McGregor was utter shite. The CGI took most of the fun out of the fight scenes. Billy Magnussen is not a formidable villainous presence. Not a patch on the 1989 classic.

I never watched Mcgregor in the UFC. I just saw him in the news for his antics and highlights of his fights and I fucking loved him in this morning.

Interesting to hear that John thought Gyllenhaal carried the movie & that he thought it should’ve been in theaters. After watching it, I liked it but in a sort of fun, campy kind of way. The action and dialogue weren’t top tier like say Reacher or Jack Ryan, but was better than the Expendables films. Felt like they were trying to pull that off but ended up closer to being a Statham or Liam Neeson type movie. Close to the show FUBAR. An easy, fun at times watch though.
While Gyllenhaal was solid, I didn’t really buy him as the most intimidating guy in the room but he did a good job. Felt almost a bit like he was miscast. I actually think Travis Van Winkle, who was briefly in it, would’ve been a better casting as Dalton. Or Glen Powell. To me, the highlights were the campiness of McGregor and Magnussens’ characters. McGregor especially as he definitely lit up the screen when he was on in a fun way, while coming across as extremely intimidating.
If this movie had been in theaters I probably wouldn’t have watched it, unless I heard amazing things about it . It is solid & fun but not amazing. Thinking back to some other streaming movies recently, I think I’d probably put both Extraction movies above this movie, just purely based on the action alone, which is top tier. Hemsworth and the overall stories are solid as well.
Road House 2: Tough Malone

Thought this movie did a great job emulating dumb fun cheesy action flicks from back in the day. And for anyone saying Connor was over the top? He literally wasnt acting. Thats just how McGregor acts 24/7. Legitimately. Them thinking that was an acting choice is hilarious lol. The accent, his “walk”, being loud and bombastic - thats just Connor.
The dialogue was really bad tbh. Kinda reminded me of Zac Snyders Rebel Moon dialogue, just a tad better
This movie was just simple stupid fun.
Then line Be Nice was actually in it, Dalton said it in the middle of the final fight. It was quick, but he said it.
Jake was good, and it was enjoyable, but it would have bombed at the box office.
Connor McGregor was the best part of the entire movie he was a completely crazy over the top villain, and i absolutely loved it the rest of the movie apart from the action and fighting scenes was meh,a lot of this movie completely dragged and was boring

This reimagining was everything I wanted in a movie like this. Super fun super funny. Gyllenhaal was fantastic. Connor McGregor gets better every time I watch it. I would even like to see a sequel. This movie should have been in the theaters would have been a blast.

Man, for some reason when I watched the trailer, I thought Conor is Ross Marquand, the actor who plays Aaron in The Walking Dead, I was thinking "wow he really buffed up for this movie"! LOL, I'm waaaaay off.

I actually think this movie could’ve done pretty good in theaters. I know having big stars doesn’t always equal a big box office but Connor has like 4 of the top 5 biggest selling ppvs in ufc history. I think if he can get that many people to go out and spend $80 for a possible 25 min fight, he could probably no get them to go spend $15 to watch a movie.

I was waiting for: "I AIN'T GOT 20 BUCKS!" A bit disappointed they didn't put that in. Connor was playing an out of control crazy Irish thug and I think he did a perfect job, personally I really liked his crazy character and think he did great in his acting debut 👌 DEFINITELY SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN MOVIE THEATRES too, shame it wasn't! I really did enjoy this movie though; 9/10

If you haven't seen the movie don't listen to Campea... Conor McGregor was awesome in this movie... A crazy psychotic over the top villain just what you want for a movie like this lol... Every time he was on screen I kept on thinking of mortal Kombat Kano he would be perfect for that role... This is not Hamlet or Shakespeare lol you just got to be able to pull off being a badass and McGregor and Gyllenhaal pulled it off in my opinion... I personally love 80s 90s style action films and I'm talking about the Blockbuster video era... if you're not about that then you might not like it
I thought he did well I’m gonna watch it again tonight I honestly enjoyed it. Hopefully people watch it for themselves and don’t get caught up on peoples reviews

Broke back roadhouse
Usually for a role like this I don't think of Jake Gyllehaal as my first choice. I believe he's a great actor BUT the way he walks doesn't really give me the "tough guy" vibe. And yet, in movies like jarhead, end of watch, southpaw, prisoners AND Roadhouse he makes me feel I was wrong and that's all because of his talent as an actor. Jakes delivers and delivers well, he's tough but he's not too much, and that's balanced with the kindness and charisma of his character. The story is simple with a couple of twits and it works. It's fun to watch and it should've definitely been in theaters.
To be fair Patrick didn't give that vibe either he was just so cool to the point you wouldn't see it coming Jake was more calm then cool but still pull the fights off whuich what they was going for your

I had no idea Roadhouse was streaming, was planning on going to the movies this weekend and then popped on prime and saw it available. So stupid they missed out on a big audience that would have gone to see it.

Doug liman brings out the best of Connor like what James Gunn did for Dave Bautista.
A few years ago I literally planned my day around campea/collider movie talk... and now I have insane respect for all things John... so I gotta think my opinion is obscured in someway... cause I found no logic in any aspect or any loveable irish mix it up in any moment of film
Amazon made the right decision to NOT put this in theaters. Director would have lost money. Good thing he got paid up front

Obviously McGregor is far from a seasoned actor but I gotta admit I found myself enjoying the film, the fight choreography was fun to watch and I felt like McGregor and Gyllenhaal had pretty good on screen chemistry
This movie wasn’t awful, but wasn’t good. The script was standard and the characters were flat. Good fights. Connor was annoying.
8/10. Agree with John. It was good. Jake and the cast was actually. Loved Frankie. She was so funny as was most of the cast. It had great fights and it really should had been in theaters.

I watched it tonight. It was fine. Now, if I hadn't seen the original, I would have liked it more. My wife had never seen the original and took it for what it was: mindless action/entertainment.
It threw in some Easter eggs for sure, but it wasn't trying to be the original. It was actually funnier than I expected.

all the fights were digital CGI and it looked it. The story was fairly lame. If they wanted the Road House closed why didn't they set it on fire right at the beginning. Jake was good though.

Connor was great in this. Its his first movie role, cut him some slack, he did his job and did it well. I really liked this movie. People need to realise the original will always exist regardless of crappy sequels which they did a few years ago, and also remakes like this which they did really well, I do wish we seen Jake rip Connors throat out in it, would have paid homage to the original. The only other thing that i didn't like wasn't the inclusion of Post Malone but his fight which was probably the only fight in the movie which didn't look great. All in all awesome movie and one ill watch again and again for sure.

I really like Roadhouse for the same reasons as John, but Connor just felt like a not even really that exaggerated version of himself. I was thoroughly entertained by him. 😅
