I really love this! Thanks so much for putting it together. Very well synched with the music and well chosen. The shot of the Liver Bird in the sunset is especially striking. The music is a classic of course. How appropriate to finish with MediaCity!
Hi Tim. Thank you for your wonderful comment. I did not make enough of the sourh of the region, but Manchester, Liverpool and Lancaster were a must. Chester and the Lake District were also included as Granada broadcast to that part of the region up until 1982. I am planning to do a video for the opening of the station in due course. Best wishes, Nigel.
Hi. I'm glad that you liked the video, there is still a much longer version of this theme used to open the channel. I will do a video when i have done a lot more research. The Panopticon - Singing-Ringing tree was a sculpture that had to be included. I did not make enough of the south of the region even though Chester was included. I think that most ITV companies did not film videos as it might have been expensive and they might alsi need to be updated quite regularly. Of course, until 1982, Granada transmitted to the southetn Lake District, which I included here. All the best. Nigel.
Granada, quality broadcaster, purveyor of good programmes, good times, and enjoyable output. You can't say that of ITV PLC today.

Nice closedown montage
Yay, great to see the Panoptican over Burnley at 0:32! Stunning capture over Chester. If only Granada had the imagination back then...

Also the starting theme song for the Manchester franchise of ITV
There were two variations of the theme, one used for startup, and this one used for closedown.
And don't forget to switch off your TV set.
Sleep well, goodnight
You’re back!!!
Hi M L. Yes, I'm still around and will be back from time to time. Hope you are enjoying life. Best wishes, Nigel.
