i believe her training parter is Aisha Praught-Leer - american born but daughter of a jamaican reggae singer - she represents jamaica in international competition - after Emma finished first in the 2017 Worlds - she went up and hugged Aisha after she passed the finish line - i know that americans and jamaicans are often close - but this explains the extra bond expressed at the finish line
Seems to me when watching some of her best victories that she gained a couple seconds here and there on the hurdles in comparison to some of the Kenyan runners. The Kenyans looked so skinny and frail, which normally isn't a disadvantage, except with the hurdles (and the landing, especially in the water).
I wonder how much of it is she just works harder. Obviously, she's got the talent but when I watch her race the commenters always mention her athleticism.
Her event in Oslo is where organizers TOTALLY F**KED-UP. Emma cleared one of the hurdles, but several others fell. While continuing to run, Emma actively waved her arms to signal the organizers that that the hurdle was set to the WRONG (higher) HEIGHT! Had she not spent the time and effort signaling, her time might have been 0.08 seconds faster, enough to win 1st instead of 2nd. Someone needed to be FIRED on the spot.
A training partner is a massive plus. I'd be happier to see the ladies training on a soft grass track - it would tax the legs more, but more importantly better protect legs and back back from potential injury.

The fact that she grew up and lives well above 7000 feet MSL does play a role here beating the high altitude Kenians.
She was born in Boulder Altitude is 5430 MSL still high enough to make a difference I'm sure there has been others who were born there that compete.
