I agree whole-heartedly on the First Person Narrative. I have dumped many books on the first page because I don't want to read "I went to..." "I bought..." "I did..." Etc. This is especially true when the love interest is involved in someway in the sleuth solving the crime, or helping to rescue her in her dark moment. For example, when she has discovered information and goes to question someone, and at the same time, the love interest discovers the same answers by a different means and is able to get to the same location in time to save her. I want to hear his side of the story as well.
I love cozy mysteries...I don't like first person narratives either not do I like stories that begin in the past and then you catch up on the present...glad I found your vlog!
I completely agree about first person POV. I don't mind it in a short story, but for a novel I find it tedious. A novel is a long time to be in one person's head. Plus, first POV just seem unreliable, if that makes any sense. Perhaps, I 've read to many stories where the the first person narrator "tricks" us by either being the murderer all along (not a cozy thing usually), or not giving us all the information on purpose.
I don't like romance to be the main thing. I don't like when writers overdescribe things that aren't important to moving the story along, or when they give elaborate names and descriptions of people who only show up for one scene and are never heard of again. I don't like bitter, jaded, world-weary MCs. I'm also from the South, and I don't like the stereotypical Gone With the Wind accents. So fake!
GRRR Britbox took away my Dr. Who! They used to have it on Amazon Prime and then they took it all away, even all the classics! Oh gosh, how wonderful to have someone give warnings. My father told me my grandfather would always skip chapters in his Westerns if they started getting amorous and then wonder where all the children were coming from. 3rd person omniscient seems like cheating. I think a prologue is a bit like a cold open. It might be a carry-over from visual media.
I am 2 for 2 with your Disney mugs. I have the AK one and Haunted Mansion. I also have many of the Disney Starbucks ones. I love Disney, we have that and cozy mysteries in common
Yes, I've heard some Southern accents in audiobooks that were super over the top. I'm not a fan of them either. Good to know about the prologues in the Candy Holliday Murder Mystery series. I've had that series on my radar for a while.
I really enjoyed this video. I have read the first 2 books in The Dewberry Farm mystery series. I LOVE this series and will definitely continue with it 😊📚

Getty is Patricia Routledge and the show is awesome! And Britbox can be gotten without Amazon Prime.
I used to subscribe to BrittBox and loved it and then I moved, I'm using a different service now, but I'd love to get it back again 🙌

I love it! 😂 My Disney mugs make me happy. Glad to know another Disney+Cozy lady friend!
I love first person! I love both actually. Are cozies more first or third person do you find?

Check them out! They are good stories.
I agree on the 1st person narrative. I prefer 3rd person over 1st but if a book is in 1st person it won't deter me from the book.
I agree. I wouldn’t stop reading because of first person, but it isn’t my fave.

Thanks! I’m on to the second book. I’m doing audiobooks because I’m painting my laundry room, and it’s taking FOREVER. Lol
