I am surprised ke Fortis Hospital, Delhi ne extra charges nahin liye!! I mean Hospital walon ne jo kiya bilkul accha hi kiya but wo patient agar Indian hota to usko itna discount kabhi nahin milta. Why don't they treat the domestic patients also in the same way...
Actually I have worked in the Fortis hospital where doctor Rajesh Sharma was empanelled in the past. He has joined a different hospital group now. In the past when Fortis had just taken over Escorts heart Institute of which this particular case is, management was still lenient with the bills on the request of doctors but over the time, management became reluctant in giving consession on the bills.
I see where you coming from…but is this really true that they don’t show such consideration to Indians…hmmm., I dunno..🤔
They help in every way they can, irrespective of his/her nationality.
@@VVS167 if it is an Indian, may be they will reduce some Rs 10K .... but never several lakhs. In this case, patient was there for 39 days. Just imagine the bill amount for 39 days at a Fortis like hospital in any indian city for such a complicated treatment.

Dr. Bhan ( he is a farishta) is one of them .. i had a heart surgery at the age of 25 in April 2012 and next to me was a 4 year Old Pakistani kid and i cant tell you the happiness kids parents had on their face while they saw him walking in Isle ! I guess the good doctor had the authority to take a decision on waiving off the accumulated payments. Not sure how many of us in India would have the good fortune of having such huge hospital bills waived off today. After the pharma mafia, it's the hospital mafia that have a tight grip on the patients undergoing treatment. Without adequate medical insurance, it is not possible for the average Indian to pay hospital bills today.
As the saying goes: 'If the illness doesn't kill you, the hospital bills will'

The hospital kept the child for 39 days without charging anything extra. This shows that if the hospital wants, it can stop charging extra from patient families. It is as easy as a doctor striking out the extra charges on paper. No consultation from management is required to do this. But sadly, 95% of private hospitals in India will charge extra to make extra profits out of helpless people. I once admitted my uncle in a reputed private hospital in Kolkata. They kept him for 2 extra days unnecessarily, stating that his potassium levels are fluctuating, and that the doctors are investigating why this is happening. Later I came to know that potassium levels fluctuating during hospital stay is very normal. No investigation is required for this. Now the hospital handed us a bill totalling the investigations done during those two days, plus 2 days' bed charges. We had no option but to pay the amount. Otherwise we could question the bill, but we had neither the inclination nor mentality to fight it out with the hospital management regarding extra (and unnecessary) investigations.
In this child's case, the hospital was considerate because it was an inter-country matter. Otherwise they would have sucked every single penny out from the patient's family for those 39 days. Also, private hospitals are considerate towards poor patients irrespective of country or nationality. So the worst sufferers are middle-class people. The rich have all the money to pay for expenses, and the poor are spared the burden of paying too much by the hospital management. But we middle-class people are the most victimised and exploited by hospitals across India.

Ye Bharat ki Sanskriti hai
Hamaare liye Muslim Meheman yaa Christian Meheman nahi hotaa
Mehemaan, mehemaan hote hain
Or unko ham Bhagwaan maante hain
Bas ek Chij achha nahi lagaa ki unko ye Sochnaa padaa ki, Namaste Kahun yaa nahi bolke
Ye Sochnaa kyoon padaa ye point hai.
Jab ki Namaste khudkaa hi Culture hai
