While she learnt otherwise on earth, Pink didn't have any positive relationships at the point when she abandoned Spindel and probably saw it as better of for Spindel to be isolate and ignorant, but safe from the Diamonds, rather than bringing her with her and getting her shattered or captured and shattered by the diamonds. Pink at this point didn't have the knowledge to realise what she did to Spindel was wrong.

Did you see the “Behind the Scenes” video about this? The writer actually left her favorite stuffed doll on the yard, completely forgotten. The sun and dirt had done it a lot of damage by the time she found it and remembered.

He started off as pure evil and we gradually learn of his past and what his motives are that make him slightly less terrible. Pink started off as a mysterious perfect figure but we gradually see her backstory and how bad she started off. She’s a reverse redemption for us. Even now, she caused such pain in her wake

She told Spinel to stay in the garden, in the exact spot she was standing & to wait for her return without moving in the slightest bit. Spinel, being the loyal gem she is, took this game/task very seriously & did as she was told, she stayed still for 6000 years (I believe), “happily waiting” for PD‘s return! In other friends, Spinel says “I‘m the loser of the game you didn’t know you were playing” because Pink Diamond left her with this so called game and completely forgot about her and didn’t tell anyone about her either. That’s the connection between these two songs: a cruel trick disguised as a game, fashioned by Pink Diamond to manipulate Spinel into leaving her alone & at the same time assuring Spinel wouldn’t go anywhere in case Pink Diamond felt like being around her again.

You're so right, not doing a sillier voice for this really captured the pure emotional devastation, abandonment, and cognitive dissonance in a way a character that sounds less real couldn't do as well. You're so right, not doing a sillier voice for this really captured the pure emotional devastation, abandonment, and cognitive dissonance in a way a character that sounds less real couldn't do as well. Somehow bringing an even more somber tone to the song, and I could hear the switches from a perspective of the naive girl spinel was, to the the one that knows what hapened and is filled with contempt and sadness, spinel bounces between these throughout the song
