    What happened is what happens to all philosophers who debate: they end up arguing amongst themselves lol.

      This in accordance with the Law of Philosophic Conservation: For every Philosopher, there is an equal and opposite Philosopher.

      Or they annoy the people in their general vicinity enough to get killed.
      Fuck Socrates.

    A secondary reaction with knowledge on the actual historical episodes you react to would be awesome

    There are so many layers to this one, as you saw you still enjoyed it without getting that many lines, so the dis lines still hit well, some basic knowledge of the guys involved improves it a lot, but when you really research them, you realise some of the lines aren't just double meanings, but some are triples and even quad meanings. Even basic rap lines like "move bitch get out the way" is deep as Lao Tsu's book and philosophy is called "The way", It even goes as deep as each of them rapping in their philosophical style, Socrates poses questions, Sun Tsu strategically attacks etc. How they included all that and still had it be cohesive makes this my favourite ERB

      Like Stephen King's 8-bar line, or his routine style lines.

    fun fact Confucius line "French Drip" is a reference to Clymidia which was running rampant in Voltaire's time so Confucius is saying Voltaire is nasty 😉

    ERB's are a lot like the old old cartoon "Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids" (back in the days when Bill Cosby was a good role model), the tag line there was "Watch out, if you're not careful, you might learn something!". Whether you share it online or not, spend a little time reading up on all of these people, and what they represent.

    I think it's pretty hard to catch everything unless you know the topics really really well. A little research beforehand does help, but I don't mind either looking up stuff during the video or watching it a second time.
    Also, since everyone's making suggestions, try Marilyn Monroe vs Cleopatra.

    • @sunflowergeek
      @sunflowergeek  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think I may do a second, more in-depth react to this one specifically and see if it’s enjoyable for people. If so then I can do more 😊 & awesome, I’ll add!!

    "I've got a sharp wit like a spit that'll skewer you,
    Like a Confu-shish kabab"
    My favorite line in this. The Confu-shish Kebab part is clean but the most impressive part is the scheme just before it. That whole "Sharp, Spit, Skewer" bit is way more clever than a lot of reactors give it credit for in my humble opinion.

    Found this video really late. I want to point out even the costuming for the asian philosophers is on point. Sun Tzu and Lao Tzu are well groomed but Sun Tzu styles his hair to make it neater and easier for battle, while Lao Tzu's is flowy and just trims his mustache and eyebrows to allow him to see and eat which is in tune with his philosophy of The Dao which is in a very VERY vague way: "Let the world flow, whatever happens, has to happen" he's chill. While Confusious's hair, beard and eyebrows are long and thick because his philosophy states that his body, ALL OF HIS BODY is not his to cut, it belongs to the parents that gave him life and therefore he shouldn't cut it on his own. (Main reason why most historical chinese figures have long hair, and beards).

    After having watched this, when I still attended college, I decided that a philosophy class sounded interesting. I now fully agree with the Athenians that executed Socrates. He was so obnoxiously self-righteous that when people in his life tried to get him to escape before his execution, he refused to, and said some obnoxious shit about morality and what makes something right or wrong, I hated that class so fucking much. Aristotle and Plato were just as annoying as their mentor.

    This probably isn't important but turns out all 3 of the Eastern Philosophers were alive during the third dynasty of China, the Zhou Dynasty. I don't know if they all lived in the same time of the Zhou Dynasty, but Lao Tzu and Confucius were alive during the "Hundred Schools of thought" period of the Zhou Dynasty, when it was falling apart(and before the Zhou started falling apart). Edit: They all died in the 4th century BC. Maybe not in the same year or decade, but they all died in sometime of the 4th century BC.

    An educational breakdown? It seems more likely that after studying Socrates, you'll have a mental breakdown because his favorite hobby was debating people and getting them to contradict themselves simply by asking them questions and to elaborate on their statements.

    That reaction was hard to watch. Not because you weren't knowledgeable enough, but the many pauses you had were so unnecessary. I don't know if you pause intentionally as to avoid copyright strike, but you don't have to do that with ERB.

    • @sunflowergeek
      @sunflowergeek  4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Thank you for the feedback! I’m not sure which pauses weren’t necessary but I felt more comfortable pausing and adding commentary rather than nodding my head for longer periods of time where I didn’t understand the bars/lyrical meaning. I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy, hopefully my other videos are more entertaining for you 😊
