Actually both Kihyun and Shownu are THEE vocalists even tho Kihyun has the title of main vocalists. Monsta X is filled with good vocalists and rappers
I listen to “Blame Me” at least once a day. I envision this song being on a KDrama when the main character realises he’s in love with the girl and runs after her 😍😍😍
Forgot to say, the way you like Mercy on the no limit album, and Secret (one of a kind version sksksk), i can confidently say that you really have a thing with hyungwon's produced songs
Hey Caitlin! Don't know if you'll read this comment or not but if you do, I just want to say thank you so much for doing your Monsta X marathon... I was never really into Monsta X because most of the title tracks that I'd heard from them weren't really my style but when you did your Monsta X marathon I decided to marathon it with you and I have fallen in love with their B-sides and this album especially is a freaking masterpiece I love it so much and I now consider myself a full-fledged Monbebe so thank you so much! Love you girl ❤
Watching them perform Whispers in the Dark live at Jingle Ball (they went to Philadelphia, Washionton D.C., and Atlanta.. Miami sadly got cancelled) was a surprise but cool. I hope they perform it at the concert! Monsta X never miss with any of their songs

I LOL-Ed so hard when the Secrets one came out 😂 Tbh before the album dropped I thought they were just gonna include this one for the English album, but nope they gave us a whole new track like the generous kings they are. Anyways loved your reaction to Blame Me - I reacted exactly the same. The production on that track was *chefs kiss*, I knew right away it was gonna be my favourite.
There's this thing I tell people... That the others may be better than Shownu in English speaking, but goddamn does that man have the best English pronunciation between not just mx but in between almost every kpop idol I've ever heard of!! As a bilingual English major, even I'm jelly!

I don’t know if you mentioned it in the video but you reacted to the wrong “Secrets”. The one you listened to is from One of a Kind (one of their Korean releases) instead of The Dreaming (their full English album). It doesn’t help that they have 3 songs called “Secrets” and two of them are in English. Although the same title, they have two different vibes and meanings to the songs!

YES YES Hyungwon’s vocal appreciation that we needed!!! I’m a new monbebe myself and although I’ve been tossed between Jooheon and Kihyun as my bias but I *have* to say Hyungwon and Changkyun left a very big impression to me personally in this album. I get to hear their singing voice more, not only that their parts on this album are so /chef’s kiss/
Ever since I became a fan (which was only 4 months ago 😂) I’ve noticed Hyungwon’s vocal but he barely get enough line to be recognizable, I’m so happy with The Dreaming I get to hear more of his singing 😭
Glad to be early, this album was one of the best dropped in 2021
very interesting interpretation of "whispers in the dark" !
frankly speaking , mine is similar in some aspects but to me it was more like they were describing a relationship between a mentally stable and a mentally unstable person. a lot of the lyrics reminded me of how my bpd and eating disorder affect my relationships. like the title says , on some days i just find falling asleep impossible and try to talk to myself but it ends up in me having a huge breakdown about how i wanna d*e lol.
so obviously a lover would be hearing those 'whispers in the dark' as well as see the scars hid under a black dress as the lyrics pronounce.
it would also explain why they had broken up due to the mentally unstable person's behavior and continuous lies. it is painfully arduous to see your lover suffer because of mental illness so there's also that to take into consideration. another thing is when hyungwon says 'i thought we had it all' because like obviously at the beginning we try to act stable and happy but once that mask comes off is when our partners realize we've been acting similar to a beautiful lie.
also , the lyrics say at some point 'the voices keeping you awake , you can't escape' which needs no explanation that's simply mental illness sometimes. same with 'selling your soul in empty mansions' which reminds me of how depressive episodes are very often characterized by emptiness and numbness or in other words , being souless.
The more I listen to it the more I feel like this is my favourite album ever... I'm not even talking in kpop.. like EVER I LOVE IT SO MUCH T^T

what i saw when listening to whispers in the dark was similar to your picture but it took place in an empty apartment with this girl. She stayed awake pondering and overthinking everything about who she was, where she was in life etc and when she came back home to her parents she kept lying about how she she was actually doing.

i bought this album on a whim when i saw it at target, before i had heard any of the songs. i listened to it when i got home and absolutely fell in love with it, and now its my favorite mx album.
They literally have 3 songs named ''Secret/secrets'' haha it's okay Caitlin love u your MX reactions are always the best!
Blame Me is my favorite. When the chorus first came in I was like THEY SAID WHAT but YAS. Still have it on replay tbh. I think The Dreaming is my favorite full length album from a kpop group and I'm a czennie. I just truly, madly, deeply LOVE it.

Ahh your reaction to 'Blame Me' is just what I was expecting. Same. The whole lyrics and story of the song is so sweet and creepy at the same time but its MX. Can't really blame em.
I feel like the songs would've told a story if they had put them in a different order, you know, like, they get to know each other, and do a friends with benefits relationship 👀 and that's why his friends don't like her🧐 he falls for her for real ("how could you expect me not to fall for you") but she doesn't do real relationships (maybe, like you said, she just wants to enjoy the high life and party) and has problems and stuff, she struggles with herself ("you don't even know who you are"), so she's afraid and leaves (basically all of One day) and it ends with You Problem when the guy finally gets over her in a heartbreak kinda way 🤧 that's my personal interpretation of the story line, but like this, the production and the music flows better, and you can think about it as the guy having flashbacks about their relationship so I'm happy with the way it turned out🥰
Cue me SCREAMING my head off over Changkyun’s vocals 😭. Seriously every time he sings I’m just. Beside myself. He sounds so good!!!
And you are RIGHT about Shownu that man’s voice is. Just gorgeous. Utterly gorgeous. He, Wonho and Kihyun often follow each other on songs and it’s incredible.
Every single one of them has incredible voices. Obviously I wish Wonho was on this album but other than that it’s complete perfection. Even as a Monbebe they surprise me with how good they are every single album, they really truly never disappoint.
Unfortunately a lot of this lyric videos get the lyrics/person singing wrong, Blame Me was especially incorrect 😅
Whoops about Secrets 🤭, as you know by now that one’s from Gambler’s album, Hyungwon made it 😁
