Alexander Mogilny's wonderful, "skilled" chops at Pierre Turgeon's ankles during a Canadian powerplay. Canada had NEVER had bench clearing brawls in World Junior play. Russia had done it twice to this point. Russian players started it, several times, including a vicious cross check to the FACE of Theo Fleury by Pavel Kostichkin. Oh, btw, watch the Russian's stick on that play. It's around Sanipass' groin. I'd punch him in the face too. But little shots like that don't start bench clearing brawls. As soon as Fleury got up to defend himself, Russian player Evgeny Davydov (former draft pick of the Winnipeg Jets), started a line of three Soviets pouring off of the bench. THAT, according to IIHF rules, is an immediate ejection of those players. But we didn't see that. We saw the precious IIHF disqualify both these teams, when only Russia deserved to be sent home.
