Great review Mark! The one thing we would like to note that other commenters have mentioned, but in the profile settings you can adjust your measurement system between Metric and Imperial for those that want to see the data in inches rather than centimeters.
@@leighsimmonds2995 Because then that's forcing golfers to go buy Apple watches? Which would be stupid and a disasterous business model! And not to mention, the Apple watches probably don't have the 24 gyroscopic sensor built in!
Excellent video. I’ve had the device for over a year now and it’s brilliant for those that take practice seriously. One small point, you can switch from to cm to inches in settings
You missed mentioning the awesome self zapping feature where you can get instant feedback on bad numbers (for example to long backswing) with an electric chock! 😅 I've had this for a year now and really like it, though I must say it can drive you mad as well, hunting for perfect numbers over the board...
I've had this device for over a year, and I use it for practically every training. I would say that for what the device can do and how reliable it is, the price is actually quite low. You can set up multiple personal profiles, so then maybe you can compare your own swing to a trainer's swing. And understand some of the differences that take away speed or accuracy, for example in comparison with your coach. When you do some drills with a coach, you can see from the numbers what parameters you should be approaching when you train on your own. The Dewizz is a great device to combine with a swing radar, so you can see if you are following the correct swing mechanics in speed training for example, and also what the relationship is between speed and hand path, which is measured by dewiz and the club head speed which is measured by the radar. And I also find it great how long the battery lasts. I leave my dewizz in my bag normally , I charge it once a month at most.
It has been on my list since a while, because of its huge potential in distance wedges training. But the price is quite high… Watching your video I realize how many features it has, it may really be a game changer specially paired to a launch monitor. Practice without feedback is just time wasted, this tool can help so many golfers .
This looks truly amazing! It's such a versatile device & will inevitably give us much more knowledge & an understanding of the golf swing & indeed, our own individual golf swing. Brilliantly presented btw!
I got one when they first came out. I used it so much that I started having problems with starting my swing because I was waiting for the tone. It's been over a year since I last used it and I still struggle to get my swing started. If that's something that's going to be a problem for you, turn the tone off. Otherwise, it's a great training tool.
Man I've had the same experience although I still use it whenever I'm at the range. But once on course I was waiting for the sound to swing. Surprising how fast the mind related the sound to "ok to swing". I ended up turning it off and now I'm just looking at green light instead.
I just realized that the electric guitar sound you use in your videos is likely YOU playing one of those you have on your office wall at home! Now that I have announced that, we all want to hear you play a golf song! You rocker!
I’ve had this for about a month. With the tempo improvement alone it feels like I’ve got my money’s worth in improved strikes. I’m sure there would have been been other (less expensive) ways of doing this but it really helped me. Looking forward to using some of the other features.
Great device. Had one for 18 months. Great for transition, tempo and distance control with wedges and irons. Can be used simply or the more complex features such as IDDx and IDDy. Easy to use and can’t recommend highly enough.
Nice video review Mark, the device being wearable is a definite plus point. In the past I personally used the Garmin Truswing, this was attached to the club shaft and provided some similar data. My Pro wasn't so keen on it as he stated that you easily manipulate the shaft and get incorrect data.
Mark - have you changed the way you export your videos, or upload to YT? For the last few I tried to watch your maximum quality is limited to 720p. I just checked through a few of your recent uploads - and it seems like "Just Cheat With Your Pitching - Golf Swing Tips For Lower Scores" is the point where it dropped from 1080p. The one exception since then is "The Simple Release Drill For Better Iron Shots - Basic Golf Drills" where TH-cam has the 1080p option - but the video appears to be 720p also.
Thanks for the nice review. As being more in the beginning of golf, I was wondering: do you rather suggest this device or the hack motion to start with (both of which you described as being brilliant)? Thank you!
Just placed an order. Thanks Mark for the video and discount code. 👍🏻 Would like to see further videos with this device in use. Hand position and speed in the swing are key metrics so looking forward to getting my hands on the device. ⛳️
Thanks for the review, Mark. Could you do a follow-up explaining the IDDx, IDDy, and Steepening/Shallowing numbers and how they work in the swing? The information out there is confusing.
I’ve used both, I think deWiz is better tbh. Haven’t used HackMotion in 6ish months (just collecting dust). I struggled with both devices on having to be so still before starting backswing.. less of an issue on the deWiz in comparison. Hands speed has been great to work on if you want to hit it longer…. Peak hand speed early is great to increase club speed.
Seems like HackMotion is very focused on hand/wrist position and DeWiz looks at the overall swing plane? I have a HackMotion. Found it useful. But yeah, collecting dust. But if Mark thinks this device is this good I’ll give it a shot.
I have a Zepp device that gives some similar information, but I've struggled trying to understand how some of the numbers are generated for it. They don't provide a lot of in depth explanations. That's frustrating. The videos that are shown here by deWiz answer questions I had for the Zepp - the issue is $.
Mark, Love your videos. Have purchased many items based on your reviews. Regarding the Dewiz swing analyzer, is it switchable between metric (cm) and imperial (in)?
Great video! Thanks Mark! . Would you consider a review of Hackmotion v DeWiz as an idea for a video? Maybe its not as simple as one or the other? Which one would you recommend going for first?
How do you correlate backswing length to shot distance in wedge practice when practicing at home? It would be good if you could map backswing length to shot distance in the app somehow. Perhaps I’m missing something.
The length of backswing and transition numbers would be good for me. But for wedge distance control going to a toptracer range seems so much better, so you can see how far the balls going and not just the cm of your swing... Also £500 is quite a lot, think you'd get better value from having like 10 lessons with a pro
If Crossfield endorses it, I am certain that it works. But it costs the equivalent of twelve one-on-one 50 minutes lessons including launch monitor and video analysis with the teaching pro at my local golf course, so I am not sure about a purchase.
Hi Mark just got it for £365…so I think it’s worth it. Is it possible to link to a coach like yourself and for you to comment on my data and advise how to adapt my swing for better results? Thanks Adrian
Interesting, I watched your Hack Motion video too. Seems they both do different things. I'm an old computer nerd, so I think both things are kind of cool. However, both are pretty expensive. I'm gonna wait a while I think.
Hm - length of swing is onething, but how fast your legs/hips turn is the key. So you should have a speed on yout hips to compare also with your swing length
@@MarkCrossfield My father-in-law comes severely over the top in transition, but just can’t seem to feel his way out of it. I think this would help him a ton.
@@MarkCrossfield Yea. So cool to use it without hitting a ball. At the moment I use half swing soft, half swing easy, 3/4 swing soft, 3/4 swing easy for gauging my wedge distances. It’s not as exact as I’d like it to be. THIS could really dial them in, with some range work(I don’t have trackman).
Mark, very interesting device. Do you konw whether you can have the audio from your phone App go into earbuds so you don't drive everyone crazy on the range?
This is a knock off of the zepp that came out at least 4 years ago. The zepp 2 u could put in ur pocket and it would show hip data. Also had a record mode where u could video swings and match them up with the numbers. It had hand plane and club going back and down and max hand speed. You would be directed to video lessons to improve where the numbers show u needed help. I guess they lost a law suit w arcos and had to discontinue it.
Does it matter which hand you wear it on? And will the info change if you swop hands? 🤔. Looks very impressive I could be very tempted as I would love to improve my Swing.
Great question! We always suggest to wear the device on your lead wrist (so a righty would wear on their left wrist and lefty on the right wrist). If you think about how the lead and trail wrist move in the swing, some of the numbers (particularly Length of Backswing and Transition) will be slightly different if you would wear it on the lead vs. trail wrist. The important part is to always wear it in the same place so that YOUR Numbers are YOUR Numbers!
Works for both lefties and right handed golfers. You can wear it on either lead or trail arm just make sure to always use it the same way to get consistent data.
The reason has to do with the sensors in the device. The nature of tracking a golf swing in 3-dimensional space requires the sensors to recognize their starting position even with the natural "drift" of a swing. We have tested Apple Watch capabilities with our algorithms, and the accuracy is not even remotely close.
Great review Mark! The one thing we would like to note that other commenters have mentioned, but in the profile settings you can adjust your measurement system between Metric and Imperial for those that want to see the data in inches rather than centimeters.
