    You're getting married?! Congrats! I had no idea... I've missed a couple of videos these past months. How exciting! It's going to be a planty wedding, isn't it? I already know you're going to be a gorgeous bride, and the decorations will be outstanding.

    Interesting...I decided to repot three of my alocasia together, and I got a lot of flack...and told to wait till spring. But I'm in the middle of doing it today. 🙃😉

    • @GoodGrowing
      @GoodGrowing  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It’s defo a bit more stress on the plants in the winter and with alocasias being more stress prone, I get the nervousness. I’m sure they’ll be fine once they get over the change 🥰

      I transfered my Alocasia to semihydro in November last year and had absolutely no Problems with it, no one dropped a single leaf. But I must admit that they have grow Lights and some of them are on a heat mat, but not all of them. So I am not that stressed about this anymore xD

    Such a great idea, to put similar plants together!
    Cacti and succulent growers do it all the time, so why wouldn’t we be able to do it with tropicals!
    Plant chore that would magically be done by itself forever: pest treatment
    Mainly because it usually needs to happen straight away, cant be planned (unless you are in a country that sells systemics to non farmers)
    Haven’t had to do any in ages, but I would really appreciate it if it stayed that way 😊
    Changed opinion:
    - I don’t like Hoya, except a few (like half my plants are Hoya now)
    - I purged most Philodendron, Alocasia, Syngonium, and Scindapsus, theres only a few of each left while I used to think they were my favorite
    I think Id pick Indonesia as well (or another South East Asian country) for the Hoya (and Piper and Begonia and Aglaonema and Alocasia and Staghorn Ferns etcetc)

    You do need to consider the plants' roots may be hard to separate to re-pot especially when they grow faster in the Spring and Summer.
    I did plant about 3 different philodendrons together in each pot last fall. It has saved a lot of time in watering.

    I just potted my ficus elastica robusta and tineke together because of this video! They were both just one stem and looked a bit sad, and now I have a full plant that looks interesting because of the two different leaf colours! Now I want to do it with everything 🤣 I also tried to put my two monstera borsigiana together, but unfortunately I didn’t have a pot big enough for that one and had to abort the mission 😂 One had a root ball that was way bigger than I expected!

    The plants all look great together! I do have some combo pots as well. My ‘weirdest’ combo must be my anthurium Clarinervium and a Scindapsus pictus argyraeus, but somehow the leaf textures make sense together. And the Scindapsus can handle a little drought, which comes in handy since the anthurium is big, they both get watered right on time. ✨

    Definitely my most dreaded chore is pest treatments- spraying down all the leaves, front and back, on all my plants, every week or so when confronted with an infestation is so tedious! That’s one of the reasons I use beneficials but they aren’t 100% 💚💚💚

    • @GoodGrowing

    @pattygaspari-bridges5637 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Congrats on your wedding !! A question, you're putting together all your sindapsus plants to reduce the number of plants and make a fuller plant. But when you encounter a few long vines you save them for propagation. Do you ever just through long vines away when you prune instead of propagating?

    • @GoodGrowing

    I've found that Scindapsus don't do as "well" on moss poles as people think - they do fine, but don't particularly size up more than they would anyway, and like you I prefer a "bushier" look even with vining plants. I love combining the same genera in pots! Especially if they have different colors and textures, it saves space and time and can give such nice visual interest. 🥰💚 I hate dusting my plants too. Repotting is my favorite thing to do, if I could get paid to repot plants all day I'd be in heaven!

    The scindapsus salad pot will definitely look beautiful once they all start bushing out and trail.
    As a hoya nerd, I have definitely seen people combine variegated + regular H Bella and they look adorable. Definitely would not suggest combining any hoyas unless the light and watering requirement is the same as each other- hence variegated and non variegated of the same hoya variety could be cute for instance Hoya latifolia albo + regular latifolia or polyneura + poly albo. Although I do understand saving space but hoya care and blooming care can differ so much to each other so please air on the side of caution.

    • @GoodGrowing
      @GoodGrowing  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I found having a mix of soil and semi hydro plants didn't work for me. The watering is different ie, amount of time between watering and the fertiliser used for each. Hydro fertiliser is more expensive so it's just easier to go with one type of medium and setup. Do you like the Elho self watering insert. Do you believe they sell the outer pots here in Australia but not the inserts. I ordered one on Amazon, not cheap. I haven't received it yet but hoping I love it for the price.

      Dragon scales do indeed Count as Jewel Alocasias although they can get pretty big leafs, I had one twice as big as my Hand O.o In my experience it depends very much on the light how long the stems get, with more light they shorter.

    This is a completely unsolicited advice so please ignore if you don't feel like reading it:
    Emma, keep your wedding private, for yourself your partner and your loved ones. I'd say actually keep as much from your personal life out of the internet.
