Staying down with more shaft lean is the key. I started doing this a couple of weeks ago and it still takes a few practice shots to get the feeling. Ive used a similar "no backswing" drill but starting at impact position with hands forward and shaft lean. I have a ball in front of the face to push it as far as I can to add interest....and keeping me in the down position longer..

For my thinking, another key to it is the sequencing / timing and the tension he touches on near the end. Your grip should be firm at the ends and light in the middle with almost zero tension in your forearms. The wrists need to be free to bend, rotate, and load at the top with your body turn into the downswing leading the backswing. For those that have never felt it, you'll know it the second you do. And I would suggest that when you do, repeat, repeat, repeat until you're blue in the face because you do NOT want to lose it again... yes, I've been through this and it really sucks! lol!

I’ve seen Eric’s video and this works. I hit just as far as my old full swing with a shorter backswing but with more control.

Seems to me Eric’s rendition to this drill is different. Step one is the same. However aren’t you supposed to totally stop halfway back in step two for a couple of beats? Than proceed in your downswing. You stop for a millisecond but than go up again slightly before your downswing. What you’re doing is considered step three in Eric’s video. In another video from Eric, he advocates no weight shift back but staying centered and rotating back. This way you don’t have as far to move to get to your lead side. Thus it’s easier to hit ball first and than turf. Your thoughts?

Excellent ! Worked for me immediately by getting rid of my "lazy" body arm swing AND staying down through the shot. 7: 34 I was missing before.

I’m definitely trying this at the range tomorrow because after my 8 iron, they pretty much all go the same. I can hit driver like 250-260yds but then damn irons are a killer for me. My buddies laugh at me cause if I’m like 160 yds out,I’ll bring my 5 hybrid out which does get the job done. Appreciate the video and you have a new subscriber 😊

I have a unique problem. I hit my irons off the mats way better than off of grass, especially if the grass isn't great. For example, I carry a 5 iron off a mat around 220 yards, but on the course off of grass, I'm around 200 yards. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks!
