Banana Island is a lovely place. You are right, Nigeria is about who you know and it's surprisingly easy to build that network. They just need to like you as a person, that's all. Even when I was in Abuja, I was invited to an event by an acquaintance at somebody's house. The host was holding an African fabric sale with women preparing to go to the village over Christmas with mothers daughters, nieces and friends. We were all laughing and gisting but come to find out the lady/host was one of the board members of the Nigerian Central Bank and I was actually eating a full plate of rice she had cooked for everyone and chatting with her. Same thing happened a few days later when I met one of Dangote's pilots completely by accident just hanging out with a friend of a friend. I thought to myself, I have never even been anywhere near the equivalent in London and I had never even expected to.
Beautiful the wealth amongst us..in friendship...knowledge and $
@Afri Media My point is that it is easier to meet those connections in Nigeria. In London it is about who you know too but there are barriers to knowing those people and especially ending up in their houses on a social level. The rules are different elsewhere.

Its quite suprising seeing Tonya lighting up on Nigeria.Most modern Nigerian homes are in estates.If you visit newest estates in Nigeria,most have beautiful landscapes than banana island.Though the island is the most expensive place.
Billionaires don't let you see inside their homes. I love the nighttime views with the water it was so peaceful.
But she didn't ask for "permission" to film all in Bummi's home (and bathroom).
I get permission to film in everyone's home I visit.
Businesses to do in nigeria in order to live in places like this..most of this businesses are done locally but if u can do it in a big way you gonna blow up straight up....rice business,palmoil plantation business,texile business, real estate business,hotel business,Any business that can solve light/power issue,furniture business,haulage,information technology school,own record label and sign talented music artiste, if u can start a cheap phone company etc
But banana island is not the most wealthy area in Nigeria. ,Abuja is the most expensive city

Great filming. Never seen it that way. The narrator is right there are houses in Nigerian villages that beat some banana island properties. Nigerians are crazy about building mansions. The culture is that Nigerians tend to have 2 or multiple homes - one in the city and one in their villages. Also visit Abuja and some of the States in South Eastern Nigeria and you’ll be impressed. These mansions are spread around 36 large states similar to the structure in the US. Nigerian homes would even marvel Americans.
A wonder why they do more condos or pent houses vs town houses or single family . That patio was OUTSTANDING.. Omg. It is meticulous.

Every society has its good and bad sides! In the UK, the haves and the have nots, still live separately! That's what capitalism is all about! Nigeria will excel....Mind you, the opportunities are just too enormous in Nigeria! It is the only largest country in the world where any black man with foresight and intelligent will become successful!

I think US will review her visa policy on Nigeria, the country is a crucial partner to the US in Africa! Let's wait & see! Wealth in Nigeria has never been an issue, its the extreme poverty and lack of a sizeable middle class that is. The disparity is too much, why can't the government cover all of the gutters? I don't want to go on a rant, it's just frustrating. Things move forward and they go backward again. Back in 2011 Lagos was cleaner than it was the last time I was there in 2019
I agree, however we have to really accept the fact that Nigeria mostly has a government in name only and we will have to do much of what they should do ourselves. Even though citizens shouldn't have to they/we could also get the gutters covered. We will have to look at society differently based on what is actually there rather than what we feel (or know)should be there. We have to return to a more communal system. Same way there is sanitation day rather than a robust regular government system of cleaning.

It’s not the richest place in the whole of Nigeria, each city has it richest dwellings and the richest in Nigeria is the asokoro districts in Abuja and its environs.

Could not... Wifi in Nigeria does not allow for 4K upload from visitors staying in hotels & air bnb. In fact, Nigeria doesn't even have 24 hr uninterrupted electricity. Also, I would not travel to Nigeria with "better equipment" without a way to preserve and protect said equipment. I'm glad you enjoyed the video
