    Dear Eva and sherylea,
I recently watched your video discussing your transition back to including meat & eggs in your diet after years of following a raw vegan lifestyle. I appreciate your openness in sharing your journey and understand that dietary choices are deeply personal and can evolve over time.
Having been on a high raw or raw vegan path myself for 11 years, I’ve experienced many of the trials and errors that come with this lifestyle. I’ve studied natural hygienic principles extensively, which emphasize simplicity and balance in our diet, and I’d like to share some thoughts from this perspective.(note, I’ve also stufied hippocrates, Morse, several plant based doctors- in fact I wrote a book sharing my knowledge)
It seems that one of the challenges you faced was the complexity and extremity of both your approaches. For instance, following a very restrictive version of the Hippocrates diet or focusing heavily on supplements, protein, and herbs can lead to imbalances. Our bodies thrive on simple, whole foods, primarily fruits and vegetables, which provide the necessary nutrients and energy without the need for excessive supplementation or extreme practices such as juice cleansing, etc.
From my experience, a successful raw vegan lifestyle is not about extremes but about finding a sustainable and balanced approach that works for your body. This includes consuming enough calorie-dense fruits and ensuring a variety of raw foods to meet our nutritional needs.
I understand that you may have felt that your previous diet was not meeting your needs, but I believe that there are ways to adjust a vegan or raw vegan diet to be more nourishing without resorting to extremes. It’s important to listen to our bodies and make adjustments, but also to be cautious about swinging from one extreme to another.
Your video might inadvertently lead viewers to believe that a raw vegan diet is inherently unsustainable, which I feel is misleading. Many people thrive on this lifestyle when it is approached with balance and simplicity. I hope that others will see that it’s possible to maintain a healthy vegan or raw vegan diet by focusing on whole, natural foods and avoiding unnecessary complications which I believe after following both of you for years was the case.
Thank you for sharing your story. I hope that my perspective can offer some additional insight - my only request is that you continue to be honest with the status of your health because there is what we refer to as the honeymoon period that can last anywhere from 1 month to a year+ where we think eating meat & eggs is the answer until the body expresses symptoms in protest.
Wishing you all the best on your journey.

Personally, I believe we should be having at least 1 pound of greens and a pound of veggies a day … Plus an abundance of omega threes in the form of Chia andflax seeds…

I think people expect a vegan diet to make them invincible, and if they suddenly experience a symptom, let’s blame the diet and go off it. But what about all the millions of people eating a non vegan diet and experiencing the same symptoms? How do we blame a vegan diet then if they aren’t eating a vegan diet? And how do we know you wouldn’t have experienced those exact same symptoms at this time in life on a non vegan diet too? We are born with weaker organs and glands in this day and age, I don’t think we should blame everything on diet. What if you experience some symptoms down the line eating animal products? Will you blame the symptoms on your diet then?
    So many questions lol.
I definitely think our fruit and veg is missing a lot of nutrients due to the soil etc and poor quality these days. And variety missing from things we don’t have access to. Vegan vs non vegan will probably always be a thing lol.
Wishing you all the best Eva, I’ve really enjoyed your videos in the past and hope you continue to feel your best no matter what you choose to eat, it’s your choice, and we should stay kind no matter what someone eats! ❤️ Happy 2025 ✨

So sad to hear. Most don't understand how emotions affect our absorption of nutrients and start to blame diet for things that are emotionally rooted. Fruits and vegetables, nuts and seeds are not to blame. I am also post menopausal and had these symptoms and i had to be humble to the emotional currents that were passing through as i adjusted. These hormonal adjustments will happen on any diet. My hair was falling out before I was eating a "Vegan" diet. These symptoms don't morally justify me killing another creature for food.

Hmm. . . I think you deny a lot of things here.
First of all, I think that the cause of you both looking so good att 52 and 53 is that you have been raw vegans in your 40s. And I kind of knew that Eva would quit being vegan some day, from he day I watched the video she said that you don't need so many calories other vegans say you do, and that it is too much sugar in our fruit today.
I think it is possible to get your period back and get plumper skin just because you get enough calories.
I remember not long ago Sherylea interviewed Robert Morse on her channel, and talked about allready have been doing this exact thing before... going from raw vegan to animalbased because she thought she needed it for building muscles - and how much she regret that.
And the dexa scans are set up that way - almost every women after 50 comes out as having to little bone mass. It is natural after childbearing age, but it is a cash cow for medical buisness.
Of course vegans don't live longer and are not immune to deseases or aging. That is not why you do it. You do it because while you are here on earth - it is the right thing to do.

@@anitaparker9831 people heal on a raw vegan diet because it’s the ultimate elimination diet. You’re removing everything but fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds so of course you’re going to get results. No one is disputing that. The question remains how long to be on this type of diet and when’s it time to move on. I mean, her diet isn’t exactly sustainable long term mostly because it’s pretty unappealing and most people are sick of it after a while. Also, we have no idea what Brooke Goldner is eating herself and whether she is vegan, mostly plant based or what exactly. I know for a fact many people online saying they’re vegan aren’t. I’m not saying that is her case though. Also, there’s always going to an example or a “but look at so and so”. That’s not exactly proof of anything.

His theory is that it wasn’t meat that gave humans a leg-up in evolution but the development and control of fire. Cooked food allowed for quicker and easier digestion and the energy it took to digest raw foods went to brain development and was the key to human evolution. If it was eating meat that increased brain size surely lions would be the ones composing music, writing poetry and building skyscrapers.

This video has inspired me. For a long time I have suspected and intuitively felt I should add high-quality local eggs to my diet. I first got this idea when I learned. Victoria Boutenko did this as well as her son.
I’m thinking a 95% raw diet with a particularly diverse range of vitamins minerals in the whole food combined with some eggs here and there could be more healthy long term
In theory all the benefits of a low inflammation, high raw, high fruit, high greens diet should remain but the benefits of having ‘meat’ in place - with the added bonus that No animal actually had to die as they are just non factory local eggs to cover the full nutritional profile
I will give this a go for six months and see where I get to

My heart hurts so much watching this video. The reason it hurts is that I’ve held onto my vegan title for so many years. Eva, you’ve always been one of my biggest vegan icons. I honestly can’t believe you’re no longer vegan. I don’t eat raw; I follow a whole-food, plant-based diet. I’m 47, and for the past year and a half, I’ve constantly wondered if I’m doing the right thing for my body. I feel frail, pale, get kidney stones, am anemic, have low blood pressure, vertigo, and joint and back pain. It’s so difficult for me to let go of veganism, but I feel in my body that it’s something I might need to do. I’m always caught between a rock and a hard place. This is such a tough decision to make.

We’re imperfect humans. Eating a Whole Foods vegan lifestyle is one of the best things you can do to your body. Of course it does consist of sleeping enough and exercising daily. I only wonder if you are eating clean vegan foods and you are getting these symptoms……..can you imaging how your body may react when you introduce animal based foods to your body once again? You’ll never know unless you try it. Everyone is free to choose. I would not want to go back to what I know is harmful to my body. Specially, nowadays all animal products/meats have chemicals, antibiotics, vaccines, hormones, diseases from the animal, some even have cancer and people eat that…..🌱time you can heal.

If you haven't done so, I would kindly suggest taking a closer look at the micronutrients your body needs to be healthy. Unfortunately, we tend to think that a plant-based diet is perfect, and we do not need to pay attention to that, but the truth is that certain nutrients are harder to get from a vegan diet (and this goes way beyond the B12 discussion). So you need to know what they are and how to get them (either through food or supplementation). Denise Minger has a great section on her website called "for vegans", in which she shares what those nutrients are and how to get them. Anyways... good luck in your journey!

My father, who is an MD (nephrologist) has been very high raw vegan for 50 years and now at almost 80 is still active and is healthier than me at 45 (I'm not vegan). I'll be 64 in a few months. I will have been vegan for 9 years. I'm not raw vegan, but a cooked food vegan. I love raw food as well. I had mainly a vegetarian diet prior since college days. But what convinced me to go vegan was what I saw the Standard American Diet do to my parents and grandparents who all ate the Standard American Diet full of animal products. Eating animal products has consequences you may not experience in your 50s, having been vegan or raw vegan for so long. But most people around that age who have eaten an animal-based diet do start having health problems related to eating animal products--heart disease, strokes, kidney failure, diabetes, etc. I was a caregiver to my elderly parents and grandmother for 17 years, so I know. Eventually, consuming animal products catches up with people, sooner or later, mainly as arteriosclerosis. Whatever menopausal symptoms happen, it is better to just deal with those symptoms than to return to eating animal products. Getting through menopause is nothing compared to strokes, heart attacks, being on dialysis for kidney failure, taking lifelong medications for diabetes, high blood pressure, etc., and possibly losing the ability to take care of oneself.

I basically added animal products to my diet of salads, fruits, smoothies, etc. Who said I’m eating junk food, drinking alcohol, eating cakes, drinking soda, etc?
Please make a distinction between these two so as to not mislead people into thinking having pastured eggs, wild salmon and raw kefir is akin to eating “the standard American diet”.

@@evathrives Thank you for your reply. When I spoke of the SAD diet, I did not mean junk food and processed food. I referenced the SAD diet concerning my parents and grandparents. My father was born in 1920 and my mother in 1929, the year of the Great Depression. My maternal grandmother was born in 1905. My other 3 grandparents were born in the late 1800s, around 1890. My paternal grandfather and great-grandfather (born circa 1870) died instantly of massive heart attacks or strokes in their mid-50s. None of these people were raised with refined sugars, junk food, fast food, etc. Only my mother was born and raised in the city. The rest of my relatives grew up on farms, and my great-grandparents as well. So they did not eat processed foods in terms of modern processing methods. They were caning but that's about the extent of their processed foods. When I was a child in the 1960s and 1970s, we had no seed oils in the home. Only animal fats like tallow and lard. It was not until I went off to college that my grandmother saw a program about how good olive oil is for us and she brought a big gallon of olive oil. But everyone in the household was so used to cooking with animal fats and maybe Crisco, that the olive oil remained unopened for several years. Fast forward to 1992. My father was 72 and retired. He went out to go banking and pay bills. His car's starter wasn't working so he took the bus. He was also going to arrange to have his car towed and repaired. But he went missing for 4 days. The police got involved. when my father was found and taken to the hospital, he was diagnosed with a major stroke and stroke-induced dementia. He did not know where he was, the time of the year, the time of the day, his address and phone, etc. He was weakened on his right side and lost sight in his right eye as a result of the stroke. An MRI determined he had had 5 other mini-strokes that had gone undetected. When my father was 62, he had bypass surgery on a leg artery that was blocked, causing him to be unable to take more than just a few steps. He was working at that time, so he had to have the surgery in order to keep working. My mother had congestive heart failure and had to have open heart surgery. My grandmother suffered mini-strokes (TIAs) and began falling, ultimately needing nursing home care due to her inability to walk and stroke-induced dementia. As an only child, I became the caregiver for all of them. I know that from about age 40, each of them was diagnosed with arteriosclerosis resulting in high blood pressure. They all took high blood pressure medications from about that age. Later, when high cholesterol medications came on the market, they took those as well. They were advised by various doctors to consume less salt and eat a banana daily and told that arteriosclerosis was hereditary. No doctor ever told them that dietary animal fat and protein built up in their arteries over decades were the real culprits of their illness. My relatives ate cooked vegetables, salads, fruit, etc. My father and grandmother hardly ate any sweets. And no fast food. None of them were overweight. So I cannot blame the modern SAD diet for their illnesses. But I do blame the SAD diet full of animal products for their illnesses. Watching what happened to them is what prompted me to choose veganism. I want to do as much as possible to avoid having to deal with debilitating illnesses such as strokes in my old age. I have seen what it is like for people to end up on medications for decades and need full-time care as a result of these illnesses. PS I will mention that my best friend's husband co-wrote some chapters in Dr. Joel Fuhrman's book, "Fast Food Genocide." Friends who have followed Dr. Fuhrman's recommended plant-based diet have done well. But when they lapsed into the SAD diet, they found themselves dealing with pre-diabetes and high blood pressure and taking medication. Therefore, I understand that you are saying you feel a kind of instant relief from adding animal products back into your diet. But it would be better to build yourself up slowly with a plant-based diet that includes cooked foods and raw food rather than adding animal products. I've seen nothing but disaster happen to old people who have eaten animal products throughout their lifetime.

Thanks for sharing your journeys. We are all on our own journeys. I’ve been vegan 35+ years, 10 of which were raw. The only time I lost my hair was during a short time of undue stress. It all came back a few months later.
Raw vegan cured my body of everything after I was so sick on meat. I could go out & run 10 miles any day of the week and quite fit & strong.
But then life happened, and I gained a lot of weight & started having health challenges. No joint pain but other issues. I finally found the root cause of most of my problems - severe sleep apnea, severe mold toxicity, and Hashimoto’s. But I know meat eaters with all of the same issues, In my case, I blame 23 years on birth control pills and the pressures of being thrust into elder care .
I believe you can both thrive and decline based on so many factors other than diet. I think the main thing we know for sure is eat real food and as little processed food as possible. Yeah, and don’t judge others for their decisions on their diet. Yes, I’m vegan for the animals, but who am I to place judgment on someone else’s ethics? We have to do what is right for us.

I have noticed, though when I increase nuts or even seeds that my hormonal issues were getting worse, which was hot flashes and vaginal dryness. Now that I have omitted them and have been going high in fruit and less salads, I am sleeping better and my hot flashes pretty much disappeared. I’m also natural hygienic which means I don’t take any supplements and nor do I do any garlic onions or spices which can interfere with the B12 Kreayshawn and absorption in the body. I’m hoping you knew about this information and did your experimenting before jumping into trying egg yolks. I like to experiment quite a bit to see what’s going to work for me. And yeah, my hair I’m keeping tabs on so far. It’s been OK in the beginning. I lost a lot, but that was when my body was still detoxing And all the assets were coming out. All in all there are more positives on this diet than negatives in my mind anyways my skin is better and I have so much energy and the exercise I do do I noticed my muscle tone is growing. I’m surprised that muscle tone was not increasing for you. But I know the other lady said that she wouldn’t do anything at the gym. Well, I’m gonna continue on my Raw Vegan journey and definitely wanted to know, though about those things if you were hygienic or not, and did you omit sodium? I developed it because I was strictly raw vegan for 4 months and I was extremely malnourished, I simply did not heal. It is not only food. You technically would have to chose no life if you really want to chose animals over yourself. Everything you eat, you do laundry, you drive car, everything you do harms wild life. Your shipped from overseas avocados and coconuts do more harm to the environment than locally raised meat. It is the way it is. Just overall follow common sense, consume less etc. This is the best we are humans can do without literally harming ourselves. There is a balance. Unfortunately, we need animal products to stay healthy.

I am sorry you experienced these symptoms. And yes, we should not shame anyone for their struggles.
But most people that quit veganism are severely undereating or hyperfocused on fasting. Eating under 2000 calories. And don’t eat enough fruits, because they are afraid of weight gain, which does happen when we eat not enough calories from fruits/carbs, as the metabolism slows down and it takes time for it to heal.
Dr Douglas Graham is still thriving in his 70s and active and he coaches Athletes.
Fruit‘n‘Sport Channel is a Tennis Coach in his 70s and raw vegan. He eats tons of fruit smoothies and thrives. We are frugivores but we also need a lot more calories then most eat in the raw vegan community. And all this fasting and juicing can create big issues. (Juice in addition is not an issue.)
When we undereat, especially on carbs, you get severely malnourished. We loose hair, we loose our period and get hormonal issues and memory issues. I experienced these symptoms myself.
The brain needs lots of fruit. Our cells run on sugar. Our body can produce its own Proteins via Proteinbiosynthesis, but people still focus on getting enough protein. 😔
Those who thrive longterm eat a lot more or raw till 4 high carb and some other long term vegans eat a lot of fats and are lucky that that doesn’t make them sick.
I personally have to add dates and big banana smoothies, no juice fats, no fasting anymore and that keeps me vegan. (Also my inner commitment to it)
Animal foods are higher in calories, a lot higher than a salad. And that will most likely make most thrive again.

Hi Eva! I have been doing a deep dive into oxalates... I think one of the things that goes wrong on the RV diet is that the veg that are high in Omega 3 are also very high in oxalates (spinach!!), and oxalates seriously jam you up. I'm following a more traditional diet now, including meat and saturated fats, kraut and yogurt and raw cheese. The pain in my body is starting to finally dissipate. As much as I prefer the vegetarian lifestyle overall, it isn't worth the impact on my health. The last few times I tried the RV diet the pain worsened.
One friend of mine nearly lost her eyesight as a result of the vegan diet. After ten years she was so B12 deficient she had to get shots. It's no joke. The Omega 3's are no joke either.

Right wrong good bad morals and values has nothing to do with it. I struggled with this for a long time. You have to make peace with what your body runs best on. If you don’t you will suffer. It’s a journey. But I often think about being in a position where I’m told to go back to eating flesh foods and flesh food byproducts again and I think I would really deeply grieve if I had to go back to eating meat given the reason why I have chosen to eat Vegan to begin with. There are so many variations to a “vegan” diet. A whole food plant based diet, (dr michael greger, dr joel fuhrman etc) recommends adequate amounts of fats, protein, and carbs and includes cooked foods such as vegetables, whole grains, sprouted breads, lentils and beans.
Wish you could also consider that, instead of the extreme diets such as raw veganism, or very low fat vegan, extended juice fasts etc. that are being pushed by youtubers and influencers who have no formal education, and I agree are “marketing” scams! You mentioned, “Creatine, carnitine, taurine, heme-iron, CLA, B-12, D, CoQ10” in another comment.
Creatine, Carnitine, and Taurine are non-essential nutrients because the human body produces them naturally. Deficiency in these nutrients is extremely rare, even on a vegan diet. Just because something unique is present in animal products, it doesn’t mean we need it.
Heme iron isn’t necessary for health. iron sufficiency can be achieved entirely from plant-based foods like lentils, tofu, and leafy greens.
CoQ10.. also found in plant foods. Deficiency is rare, as the body produces this nutrient naturally.
The nutrients to pay attention to are B12, vitamin D, and omega-3s- and most people are deficient in these nutrients regardless of their diet.
B12 comes from soil… not animals. Animals are supplemented with B12, which is why it’s present in animal products to begin with.
Vitamin D comes from sun exposure… Most people are deficient regardless of diet. You will have to supplement- plant based or not.

It's very sad that so many vegans are turning back to eating animals. Isn't part of being vegan that we don't want to harm animals? There's very few perfect vegans. When you said it may sound like ego because your hair was falling out I had to agree. I am not trying to be mean but it is like saying my hair falling out is worse than harming an animal. If eating eggs is the answer then go for it. Please eat eggs not from a factory where they kill the male chicks. I've heard other people complaining that they stopped having their periods. Are you trying to concieve a child? I would be celebrating not having a period. I guess it makes sense that eating a chickens period to get your own period back. If all sentient animals are equal then what makes our health more important than their death? Will we experience peace on earth if we continue to exploit animals? I am so sad that it has to be one or the other. Is it possible that we can continue to do research. You say you've tried everything but eggs were the only way is just not possible. I am not a perfect vegan but I would never say that my health is more important than an animal that has feelings and wants to live just as much as we do. The comment about some vegans not looking good. Can we see what you all look look like without make up? If you are so healthy show us your skin without make up. I know that I am sounding so judgemental but please stop making the problem be solved by exploiting animals. Please say I am having a hard time sticking to veganism and leave it at that. You are in a spotlight having a TH-cam channel that was celebrating raw veganism and now all that was wrong? I don't think so. I am glad that most of the comments are positive but I couldn't stay silent. Actually there are studies with long term vegans. There is a city in Southern California where the vegans live long healthy lives. The blue zones prove that plant based diets can work. Good luck convincing yourselves and others that it doesn't work to be vegan. So sad. If you watch "Christspiracy", they prove there is no humane slaughter. And the argument that all the animals in the field die is not the same. The animals that are mass killed are born to die whereas the animals that die clearing a field were not born to die.

What's most disappointing is that you are making excuses for not being vegan instead of just saying that you are no longer following a vegan diet. Veganism and raw veganism works for many people and is a very healthy diet. But more than that the animals are not harmed. You said you were an activist so you know how they are tortured. There is no humane slaughter no matter how much you try to convince yourself and others that it's true. I recommend watching "Christspiracy". They documented the places believed to be humane. Many claim to be caring well for the animals and that they are happy animals. They are not happy when they are getting their throat cut. You wouldn't eat a dog or cat. We are all equal and all sentient beings want to live. I hope you can get back to a plant based diet after you realize animals are not here for us to eat. They are here for us to care for. Great interview, Eva and Sherylea! Eva, I’ve followed your journey for years, and in some of your videos, I noticed your hair thinning and your glow fading. It made me wonder if your diet was still working for you.
I’ve always eaten healthily-I love veggies! I tried a raw food diet for 11 months, but when winter came, the veggies tasted bland, and I felt cold. I decided to listen to my body and add soups and warm foods. At first, I felt like I was cheating, but over time, I accepted it. Now, I juice fast and follow a very healthy diet: about 85% vegetables, 10% fruit, and 10% or less animal products. I prioritize balance and listening to my body’s needs. Sometimes I eat only veggies, but there are seasons when my body craves meat.
One time, I couldn’t stop salivating at the thought of mushrooms-I was clearly deficient in something. I ate mushrooms and avocados nonstop for a few days, and then the craving passed. It’s all about balance and tuning into what your body is telling you.
Thank you for being honest and open. I really respect that. I dislike when people pretend to live a strict vegan or raw vegan lifestyle, setting unrealistic expectations for others, only to find out they’re not being truthful about their diet. Everyone’s body is different, and I believe raw or vegan diets are excellent for detoxing, healing, and giving the body a break.
I agree with Sherylea about the experience of not eating because the food in front of you just isn’t appealing. I see those phases as signals from the body that it needs cleansing, more nutrients, or a break from chewing. Juice fasting always resets me, and after that, my cravings return naturally.
You’re looking so radiant now, Eva! It’s wonderful to see you glowing again and doing so much better.
