Claire, the fact that you can produce a recognizable song, without sheet music, in front of people, self taught, on day 165 is astonishing to me. I've been playing the cello for YEARS and I've never played in front of a single person except my instructor.

Excellent for how new you are to the violin! It's a very difficult instrument and it'll get better as you continue to practice and play! Nerves make it much harder to play but you did great. Keep going on your violin journey and I hope it brings you nothing but love for your future and life!

I agree that nerves can make it harder to play an instrument (or even sing). I haven’t done any recitals, however I tried a group holiday play-in and didn’t do very well, partly due to not being fast with reading and having had learned different versions of the same song. Also, when I was in college, I sang a solo and was so nervous that I quickly went off-key with a shaky voice.
