    If your family ask you for money cuz they ''raised you'', tell them you'll sue them for bringing you in this world without consent. That your soul was much better off in paradise then on Earth and that you want them to assume all your expenses from now on + money for emotional distress.
    You have to fight crazy with crazy :)

    Wow, just Wow! Yet another story of a parent leeching off of her child, just because she raised said child as a single parent. Providing food, shelter, health care, and clothing, is the bare minimum a parent does, not to be reimbursed later by said child. Even I know that, and I have never been married, or had kids.

    In what country can a mother file a law suit forcing a grown child to support them? Especially when they have children of their own. What does this daughter do that she makes that kind of money to pay her mother $4000/month. This is assuming that the daughter is a single mother and is not living with her mother.

    My mil put my husband in a children’s home at age 7 and after we got married he reconnected with her. She told him that it was his job to take care of her. He did for a while thinking that it would make her love him. We paid everything rent, utilities, food, insurance, buying her a new car, clothes, furnishings and giving her expenses every month. He finally stopped when he found out she had more than 1000.00 in her account and was hitting us up for another 500.00 for the month. Keep in mind she didn’t even acknowledge his birthdays but she did remember to call every month for more money. Since cutting her off, we now have peace and a whole lot of less stress. And take nice vacations with the money we were sending her.

    • @AuntLoopy123
      @AuntLoopy123 ปีที่แล้ว

      She gave him up. As the elder, if she wants a relationship with him, it's on HER to reach out, and take the initiative with giving to HIM. Not the other way around.
      If a previously dead-beat parent comes back into your life, and "wants a relationship," you can see the truth based on who pays for what. Who offers to pay. Who insists on paying. Who gives gifts, or just says, "Look, I don't have the money to give you everything I wish you could have. But at least I can stand on my own two feet, and not ask you for anything."
      If they come to you, because they want a relationship, and at the same time, they are broke and need help, then they'd better be asking for help from entirely different people, and NOT the child they previously abused/neglected/abandoned. ONLY THEN can you trust them, GRADUALLY, with a relationship. But never give them money!

    The real problem is the daughter forking out money to the greedy hag, instead of cutting her out of her life. Doormattery is never a winning strategy. And these people are targeted by users and abusers because they never learned to say NO and continued to cave in to blatant manipulation and guilt tripping. Over the decades I've heard many excuses for why women don't say NO, and these excuses are shameful.
    BTW, the plot is stupid. There is no way that a real lawyer would take on such a ridiculous lawsuit. There is no law that requires adult children to fund the lifestyles of their parents. Any real judge would throw the lawsuit out - if it even got to into court. But no surprise to see such ridiculous stories aired - the amateurs writing these stories don't bother to check even the most basic facts and just make up stupid things for the "drama" factor.

    Where does this "you owe me" come from? Selfish people do not deserve it.

    • @AuntLoopy123
      @AuntLoopy123 ปีที่แล้ว

      And yet, there are plenty of people, now, and in history, who believed that if they put forth the effort to raise a child (even if they abused that child), then that child owes them, forever.
      Look at Dickens' "Great Expectations," and how his sister was about "raising him by hand." She abused him, and then, when he had money, she expected to be paid for taking care of her own little brother, who was a HELPLESS CHILD, and whom she was SUPPOSED to actually LOVE. But she never did love him. She merely tolerated him, and only took him in, because she didn't want to look bad, in front of the world.
      The thing that gets me is that these people KNOW that the world will think badly of them, if their actions get out, and so they always try to keep their actions and abuse hidden. And yet, if challenged, will say that they did nothing wrong! If the truth comes out, it's "You made me LOOK bad!" Not, "Now they know that I AM bad."
      I'd like them better if they weren't such lying, hypocritical, deniers.

    Fate of the mother: She called her daughter and begged her to reduce the amount but the daughter told her no and reminded her of the payment and even told her if you want to play with the law, this is what you get. The mother being an idiot tried to threaten and intimidate her but she daughter recorded it and immediately reported this to the police and ask for a restraining order and this put her in line as she realized that her daughter is completely serious. She continued to work and gone home and started to feel realize that what she had done and also realized that she could have been a grandmother. Watching many other women her age spending time with their grandkids and their own kids, she began to go through depression and started to regret what she had done. She almost destroyed her own daughter and her family for her selfishness. She tried calling her daughter crying and try to apologize but the daughter wanted none of it and started to yell at her and reminded her of everything and kept roasting her and this made her break down and cry because she knows it too late and she has nothing but this debt and the guilt of what she had put her daughter through. She is all alone and no relatives wanted anything to do with her and decided to come to terms that this is what is going to happen to her for the rest of her life and think that this will be a good way to make amends with her daughter and at one point she decided to put out life insurance with her daughter receiving the money as a way to make up for everything.
    During a point in her life, she passed away and there was definitely no funeral as her daughter wanted nothing to do with her but once she went to the lawyer office, she received the life insurance and mentioned that this is her way to make amends for what she had done in the past and to make sure that she will be able to support her family. The daughter realized that she really finally showed remorse and noticed that she finally felt guilty about what she had done.

    Christmas trip. It's ridiculous for OP's husband and MIL to demand at the 11th hour that she and their kids give up their trip to be with her family for Christmas. They already missed seeing her family the year before out of respect to husband and MIL. While everyone grieves in their own way, it's been over a year and the kids already didn't get to see their other family last year. They should not have to forego seeing their other family again just for MIL. They'll be seeing her shortly after around New Year's anyway. It's no big deal to do holidays not on the actual day. Apparently these folks have never had anyone who does essential work in their family. People like firefighters work 24-hour shifts and don't have every holiday off like office workers or whatever. MIL and hubby need to get over themselves and think of OP and the kids and the other family who already didn't get to see each other last year.

    There is case law precedent on this in the US. SO people need to understand it CAN happen here.
    I believe the case that set the precedent was a 19 year old that sued his grandmother for not giving him his yearly birthday money. He expected it and she cut it off without warning. This is why they often tell men to NOT give a woman money for her unborn child if you plan to contest paternity. It can be seen as an agreement to father the child. A case like OPs likely couldn't happen....but this is the US so never say never.....
    I mean judges let rapists go because going to prison might damage their reputation.......so anything is really possible here.

    She told the family God-knows-what to get them to hate OP. And yet, when she finally got one of them to listen to her side, they confessed that the mother had bragged about having a judge in her pocket, because she used to date him, and how she was going to get rich off her own daughter.
    That bragging should have been their clue-by-four to ASK OP for her side of the story. "Say, OP, I know what your mother said. What do you say about all this?"
    "Well, Mom decided that since she paid money to raise me for 18 years, that I have to pay her back. I've been paying her $2000 every month, for five years, since the month I turned 18. But, when I had my son, it was just so much more expensive than I thought, plus I couldn't work as much, because I had just given birth. I asked her to let me slide with only paying $1000 for that month, and promised to make it up, but she instead decided that she was going to charge me $4000 every month, for my insolence and selfishness, because I said that feeding my baby was more important."
    "Yeah, that's nutsy. Plus, she's admitted to judge-tampering. Here is the information you need to set things straight in court."
    "THANKS!"
    "I can't believe we listened to her lies, in the first place. She told us you had BORROWED a hundred thousand from her, and had refused to pay it back!"
    "If being born counts as borrowing $100,000, then they should make babies sign loan contracts."
    "It's a good thing she's so conceited. If she hadn't bragged about cheating with the lawyer..."
    "Thank God! And thanks for giving me a chance to explain."
    "I wasn't going to, until she said that about the judge. I know that, if she had to go so far as to cheat in court, then there had to be more to the truth than what she said. Anyway, even if it WAS true, nobody should be tampering with judges! That's just not right, even if you are on the right side of the case, you know?"
