- When police in Guatemala harassed and assaulted Estuardo because he was gay, he sought asylum in the U.S. - but his journey only grew more nightmarish from there, he tells CBS News. Now he's in Texas, where he awaits a decision in his asylum case while running an LGBTQ+ shelter to help members of his community who are trying to cross the border from Central America.

Sad that thousands like him for many reasons need or have to leave their homes .More needs to be done to help all these people to live and Work happily in their own countries.
Sadly it will take time !
I have a friend who lives in L.A. and his story is just messed up. He had to leave his parents home because they kicked him out because he was gay. He didn't wanna leave Guatemala so he enrolled in the army and stayed but when his time was up. He realized if he stayed in Guatemala he was gonna have to marry a woman and he didn't want to do that. So he had no choice but to leave and start a life here in USA. He arrived in Texas and for him he didn't felt welcomed and then ended up in Los Angeles. Just knowing him and talking to him and hanging out with him. Hes a really sweet guy, and it really breaks me heart. That he had to go through the toughest things And perhaps some traumatic things in order for him to get here.
Good man.
God be with him 😭
Beautiful soul …
It’s not easy at all I m happy he’s in the us hopefully he’s life will change for better
“Don’t come.” VP Kamala Harris
Still not a excuse to break the law
The day will come when POC take over the USA and trust, we wont forget... and all your little grandkids/family will pay the price... #js
@@tnnsboy18 Whatever you say keyboard warrior 😄
I just need to point out that seeking asylum is not actually against the law. The only debatable part about this whole story is whether or not he should have stayed in Mexico or the US while USCIS made thier determination. It's getting onto US soil and not declaring yourself, just slipping in and disappearing, that is illegal...
I am not debating your stance on immigration (you do you, boo) but in this particular case, no laws we're broken.
There was a man (not from this country) in new mexico who d-c@pit@ted someone and was playing soccer with his head. Was he ALSO an "asylum seeker"?? 🤔
So he is a coyote arrest him.
Lol
No more confused needed in the USA jus because he's confused doesn't mean he has a right 2 be here
People in the US say they're treated badly by the police, ok, they don't just pack up and leave the US, they try to change things and it better! These people "asylum seekers", do the same thing in your own country! Make your own country a better place.
Don’t you know that the USA made them into third world countries
@@myworld4257 Oh boy.... Take your leftist bullsh_t somewhere else.
So you want this guy to waste 50 years of his life fighting for something that he can't change??!
Guatemala sounds nice
Why are you telling us? Plan a visit and go.
