My kids used to love this movie called Song Of The Sea. It was about 2 kids whose mother was a Selkie who returned to the sea. It is such a good movie! Technically, it's made for kids but I enjoyed it just as much as the kids.

Aidan, if you're gonna do a video on Prince Maddock, could we get your opinion on the older Irish story of St Brendan and his voyage? It's a really weirdly specific tale and has pretty early origins. Also a few years ago a man made the voyage from Ireland to America in a period correct Irish Corraigh or animal skin boat.

Weirder than the dwarves/neanderthals connection is the Norse stories of the Jotuns. The word Jotun often gets translated as giant, but Norse language experts will point out this is wrong. Jotun comes from the Proto-Germanic Eotunaz which comes from the word eot meaning to eat. Eotunaz and Jotun literally mean Eaters or Devourers. The Norse myths say they (humans) weren't allowed to settle in the lands of Scandinavia until their kings had intermarried with the Jotun royalty. This is particularly concerning when you realize that 14 mass graves containing several hundred cannibalized human skeletons each have been found all across Germany.

As it pertains to the fossil records, I suggest you look into how many gorilla skeletal fragments have been found in Africa. Also, maybe look into how recently gorillas were "proven" to exist for the large ape being left undiscovered for so long debate. I think you would appreciate the work of Bob Gymlan (he's on YT) on the topic. He's not related to the guy who made the video in the 60s and takes a very biological approach to his research on Bigfoot.

Aidans, I'll throw out some circumstantial evidence in terms of college drowning deaths: in Wilkes-Barre, both Wilkes University and Kings College campuses are within 2 blocks of the riverfront and there's multiple high bridges crossing the Susquehanna. There are very few deaths related, and a majority are fishing and boating accidents. Might be some interesting statistical comparisons if you take a look, particularly considering it's still a high-crime area.

You MUST look into Leonarda Cianciulli -- but in order to do so properly you must also look into her mother. The story can't be told of one without the other. It involves all the things: multiple types of abuse, stegheria, WWII, domestic crafting and all kinds of 20th century European politics. A soapy good time.

@@Comfortdoll A good place to learn about her would be in Stephanie Harlowe's YT catalog. It's a lengthy 2-parter but you'd only need to watch the first one if you're already familiar with Leonarda. Her mother also had a tremendously hard life. She too made some interesting choices. So glad we don't have to face the time period/geography that they did. That said, the family was really messed up regardless. Mario Puzo couldn't make this shit up.

I could be wrong/it could be just pronounced both ways but that's the way I've always heard it in reference to the city of Chehalis, WA as well as the way members of the tribe pronounce it in the videos I found :)

Not to defend pharmaceutical companies, they have more than enough lobbyists to do that for them, but polio is almost eradicated, with only 30 naturally transmitted cases in 2022 worldwide, all of them in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Once the 160 of so active cases in Africa have been treated, polio is a pain to cure, it'll no longer be endemic to Africa, leaving only central Asia. It should go the way of smallpox by 2030, most likely earlier.
