Omg that last game. I can imagine playing like your opponent and just losing it cause you’re barely trying but just smarter. These guys are decent players too.
@@lethall6609 That game was quite literally the first game that actually represents a champ player in 1's and 2's. My problem is half the time I try to 50 it gets pinched in my net T_T
@@blooodbat007 same, its soo me, but finally we got the match we wanted after so many bad champs, idk in eu its seems like this last guy is everyone here in c2
The thing with that last guys playstyle is it punishes a lack of control. Squishy makes it look stupid but if you can't control the ball fast and move it exactly where you want it then it can be quite overwhelming having someone bumrush you because you can't ever have any space on the ball. We saw here why it's not a good idea to learn this as a habit because once you reach a certain rank you will look totally stupid doing it. Unlearn it now even if it seems better currently.
That’s why Squishy recommends learning to position yourself for low 50/50s. You can force the opponent into a bad commitment and then gain a scoring opportunity.
You’re so consistent on hitting the ball where it wants to be. I was practicing last night and that’s all I was doing hitting the ball where I want it to be. My problem is not having my car positioned right to follow up the next shot. Definitely taking notes. 50/50 for the wins
I have been stuck in diamond all my 500h+ in rocket league and trying to do too much but with your help and showing how little effort you actually need, I made 8 win streak and soon I am out of diamond in 1's. Thank you brother and keep up the amazing work!
I haven't played in like 5 months and watching squishy makes me want to try playing again. If only I could speed flip consistently I just got tired of losing kickoffs uncontrollably.
This really is one of your best instances of this series. It helps being 1s so you choose when to talk, but also your self control (avoiding advanced mechanics) is better than normal, aside from flip-cancel speed flips (is that the right term?).
Speed flip implies a flip cancel. However, I have heard of a speed flip that doesn't require a flip cancel but I've never seen it and I'd imagine it's not as fluid.
you should have the ball cam thing on, idk what you call it the thing on the bottom left but its hard to figure out what situations you have ball cam on and off
6:10 Squishy (or anyone reading this) do you have any advice on how to get good pops when you jump to start the air dribble? When I single jump like that I can't keep by car straight right after I make contact, it's like I'm almost bouncing off the ball. Idk how to fix this lol.
If you’re bouncing off the ball, it’s because the ball is moving down when you hit it. At 6:10, Squishy times his touch right after the bounce while the ball is going upwards which makes it easy to keep momentum. Hope this helps 🫡
I think the major piece of advice I should take from this video is to hit the ball more midfield instead of going for a shot when approaching their net from their corner. You're totally right that they will always expect a shot there which is easy to save with an early challenge, but that same early challenge will send them flying away if I just touch it to the side.
Question tho, watching these replays is mad, im gc2 pushing for gc3, i play c3, pushing to Gc in 1s, and the players i play against in EU are alot more mechanical and consistant than this? Idk if its Blind ignorance or, But i defend cross map air dribbles, flip resets, etc multiple times a game at this rank, and again, they can hardly aerial here?
funny how every time he stops talking and tries a bit harder, he does mechanics he tells you not to practice :D like at 16:40 dribbling while airrolling, can notice these moment through all series
To echo what someone said on the last vid: “Where’s the guy that said he was going to lose in Champ?!” I mean this is a joke. He’s toying with C3 while staying grounded almost the entire game. It’s unreal. He should do a 1v2 series cuz Scrub is obviously washed or checked out at this point.
If you listen and apply all these things Squishy is saying, the small details like low 50s, single jumps into ball instead of flipping and over commiting, quick flicks over opponents, drift cuts into ball, as well as good shadow defense, back post, swing wide when ball goes over your head, stuff like that, you will see your mmr climb and climb and improve quickly, facts..
i have 1 question, how am i supposed to get confidence in my air dribbles if i dont try them? squishy should be telling us to try and mess, thats the best practice ever, our best master are our own mistakes
and no, practicing in freeplay isnt the same, no pressure, full boost, its not the same, that always happens to me, i can do flip resets consistently in freeplay but when im in a 1v1, i get nervous and i dont have the confidence to do the same thing i do in freeplay
I have a suggestion for this series- Instead of doing a road to SSL where you are the one playing, maybe do a one-on-one coaching series where you can limit the goal to being something more reachable like a road to GC or even champ. I think the biggest issue with this series is that the advice only takes people so far when they can’t execute a plan to the accuracy that you find to be second nature after so many hours. Seeing someone else work with you and not having the skills you have would make the advice seem more directly relatable to the average human being

This means that setting up a mechanical play is risky and difficult to attempt without overcommitting and giving away a free goal.
