    I want to just say 'Thanks' - this is great. I've been doing a few videos with activities for families and I am so aware how difficult it is to achieve all you want to and to keep people's attention. I've been doing fun challenges and making sure I grab people with the verbal bits is quite hard. Unlike with a live audience where they are a captive audience and almost 'have' to sit through what we are saying, on a video they can switch it off at any moment, so grabbing our audience is so key! There is so much here to reflect on - thanks!

    Hi! What editing software do you use for using zooming in and out as you do? Thanks.

    • @SpeakLifeMedia
      @SpeakLifeMedia  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is in final cut, but you can do it in every editing app. Look up "key frames". Oh and make sure to film in a high enough resolution so it doesn't go too grainy when you zoom in.

    Excellent suggestion: watch others. Also, try cutting off the sound and just watching gestures. That can help see what’s going on.

    Anyone else spot the cat? It didn't have a yellow jumper like famous photo-bombing children, but there it was

      Oh wait, Samuel Frith saw it too and gave the timestamp. Bonus point to him.
      And a cheery wave as well as congrats on superior cat spotting skills, this is Cherry - assuming you're the S Frith our family know!

    Too many hand gesticulations, guys. A few are fine, to emphasise your most important points, but constant, frantic waving of arms is distracting, and repeating the same movements is also annoying. Just my observations as a typical audience member.

    • @SpeakLifeMedia
      @SpeakLifeMedia  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      helpful to get that feedback too :)

      @@SpeakLifeMedia Personally, I like your hand movements, so I think this is one of those things that are a little subjective! However, I am someone that makes a fair amount of arm movements myself and my wife sometimes comments on it, so it probably fair to say that it is something which some people don't like.

  • @davidbaker5659
    @davidbaker5659 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Really helpful - but am I allowed to say I found the amount of hand movements really distracting?! Too many!!

    • @SpeakLifeMedia
      @SpeakLifeMedia  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are certainly allowed to say that :-)
      I can't think of another video where I gesticulate so much, but a) its a TH-cam "How To", a different style of video, and b) I wanted to show what's possible when most people will be starting from zero.

    Excellent, except - way too many annoying hand movements. OK, even the professionals do it but control those hands!

  • @Rich72James

    Waving hands is irritating.

  • @57alemap

    Please remove that annoying and distracting 'music' in the background. It really is not helpful! Everything else was great thanks!

    • @neiljackson672
      @neiljackson672 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I never even noticed that until I read this!!! Personally I didn't find it annoying at all and if anything it helps to add to the whole flow of the video. Music that is loud and cheesy and which detracts from the presentation is of course not good, but this music falls nowhere close to that from my perspective. I guess it is one of those things which is quite subjective.
