- Back to looking at VCRs, this time we have a National / Panasonic NV-777. An interesting high end model from the early 1980's.
This model has variable speed slow motion and reverse play.
Trying it out then taking it apart to see what is inside.

My first VCR. Bought in 1982 if I’m not mistaken. Mine still works. Die cast aluminium chassis, BNC connectors for video. Audio, dub, insert edit. Variable slow motion. My next door neighbour had the NV-788 (which was identical, but recorded and played back in LP). Both built like tanks.
Good to hears yours is still running. Nice machine. Did yo need to do much work on it?
@@Elecamiover the years, I’ve replaced the heads, the battery, and the belts.
@@just_passing_through Very good. Soon it is time to watch out for the Electrolytic capacitors. They start to leak.
wonderful job , did the operation very well!
Thank you.
I used to repair and service these when they were new back in the early 1980s. There was also the NV-788 which looked almost identical, but it had long play and could record 8 hours on a 4 hour cassette.
Nice. I will take a look at the NV-788 at some point.
It vcr is very bad design.
What is bad about it?
