This is my happy day - Project bike is back and I'm glad you finished with your fun stuff. I have been waiting for this day. It looks like you had lot's of fun at the Born Free Event and you look great, Mike
Thanks for the update on the flatty. I gotta tell you Mike, and I hate to laugh, but whenever you tell the sidecar story, it reminds me of the kind of stuff I used to read in 1970's Easy RIders magazines.
Love those tanks,my friend.. The video of the flatty is gonna be really awesome! I'll be watching, and waiting. See ya out on the road one of these days!! Just waiting for my plates, registration, etc for now. Peace.
Your a good dude Mike for sharing your talent and knowledge. Not a lot of guy's around my area that are willing to share any info. And mostly because they have never worked with the older Harley Davidsons . Or they just won't give out any info. I learned a lot about my shovel head by watching your videos. And for that I thank you my friend you rock.
Been waiting on flathead Mike looks great I just got done rear tire bearings and front and rear brakes on 2012 heritage man parts went way up brother still going slow on my 69 hardtail triumph chopper keep having other things pop up being responsible sucks
I'm glad everyone made it back safe when you build its always your way not someone else's that is just the way it is then you can look in the mirror you can smile at yourself and say I did it good will to you
I've built so many things for other people and it's quite a job to make yourself please them rather than yourself. But, success is pleasing the customer and they are entitled to their taste, as is everyone else. How boring it would be if we all had the same taste. Now that I'm retired, it's my way.
Nice to see you on your project bike now. My neighbors are blasting fireworks, so nice video to watch. I live in Washington and I know your in California!!
Right On! Glad to see 👀 this flathead project again. Waiting g with baited breath till the next installment. Good luck with your project, and have fun!
Great gosh amighty, we get to see the Flathead project. I've been waiting longer than you have. It's good to see that Flathead project. Will be watching intensely. Love to see good bikes being built. Best of luck to you Mike and the Flathead project.
I was wondering what happened and I even made a comment to you a while back and you said you were busy on other things at the time. So you're back at it on the flat head that's awesome I can't wait to see this build finished!!! just one more beautiful bike to add to your awesome collection!!!👍💯😎
Same here ; my shovel I had frame red with tank and fenders . Regret now . Should done black . Looks awesome. It’s fun piecing things together on a budget. A little a time . No wine before it’s time - Awesome ✊🏻👍👌
Condolences! I’m sure the sidecar experience has had a profound impact. A lot of emotional involvement from the point of the initial dream. Hope you can salvage the dream.
I know the feeling. I've taken a year off my 1972 ironhead. Utter rebuild, and I'm not a mechanic, but I will be when I'm done :) Probably another year to go, so it might wind up being a total of 5 years on this project.
That's gonna be a nice bike. I don't know what it is about iron head but when they're running good and that throttle is cracked open they are the meanest sounding Harley engine there is.
Ironhead Sportsters are oldtime factory hot rods. They breathe fire and don't apologize for it. The first Harley I built for myself was a $200.00 58 Sportster basket case. Well, I don't think I did so well, but it looked good, it was fast, and it shook the neighborhood.
Your Born Free video got me back working on my "80 Shovel wide glide. Managed to get a lot done in the last few days, and hope to order the new tires this week. I probably have a couple of months to sort the last of it out, but thanks for the extra push. Wayne out West (Well, Denver is out west to most folks...)
I know. You are correct. Please send a communication to Harley Davidson. They do call themselves "The Motor Company," They make "MOTOR" cycles. They even make them for "motor officers" who get them out of the "motor pool." When we're all driving electric cars, we'll have "Happy Motoring." And, we'll ride "motorbikes." You're still correct.
So glad you’re back on the project bike Mike. I suppose I’m like a lot of your regular viewers who really want to see you build the bike and get it out on the road. Looking forward to some great videos dude. 🤓👍
I don't think so. Paint is a long way off and I don't think I'm ready to share it yet. Flake is however, the wrong time period for what I'm building. Everything here is from a long time ago. Kinda like me.
Happy to see you back on the project bike... excited to see more progress..and how the tanks wind up!!.... everything looks great so far......on the sidecar... when you go back to that...try adding weight to the car.. maybe 70 lbs ( I would guess that s what Sonja would weigh.... it'll help in the balance and feel....be safe
Thank You. The sidecar was fine. Just not what I should be doing. Maybe again later on. I have plenty to do. Maintaining what I have and getting that Flathead done is enough for now.
I've seen some pretty cool flat tracker's that were 45ci the way they lay over the tank and slap the tank shifter took many practice laps this was in the 70s back in southern illinois they would race on a frozen lake in the winter too with 1/2in studs/spikes in the tires those old dudes knew how to have fun
Hey Mike and Mike...I gotta say, I really love the brass and I know that being "old school" like myself, there will be plenty of chrome and polished stuff to accent it. I know the new trend is to black out everything, but somehow to me the shinier the better. (Though admittedly it is a PIA to keep clean!) So my patience has paid off once again and I'm looking forward to watching the progress on the flatty. You guys rock!
Thank You. I love clean and neat. I want to see details. A bike that's ridden and maintained looks great. Yes polishing is the same as "fondling." They are love things.
