It's actually kind of incredible how well this game, on its own, without even needing to compare it to the other games in the series, showcases that synthesized voices are a downgrade from no voice acting whatsoever. And when you DO make the comparison to the other games, you see how deeply attached people can be to well-written characters without needing voice acting.
I've heard much, much better AI voices than this -years- ago. they have mechanisms to make them more expressive, you can make them raise and lower their pitch more naturally, you can even get them to mimic your own intonation by recording a scratch track for it.

Having a nice voice could carry this game so much since it's the only human interaction you have.. But they replaced the only human interaction in this game with an effin AI such a disappointment. I hope they go the alpha dream route.
Honestly I’m just glad they’re able to still make a sequel to the originals. It means we might actually get a non-soulless one in the future instead of a definite no people were thinking of these past years.

Endless Ocean had some of the funniest GG bits (9 Ball Island, Throw the tenors overboard, "slap it to enrage the mother", the shark agitator,etc) happy to see them doing another one of them

I feel like this is a wonderful time to plead that you continue the endless ocean blue world play through if you're able. Theres still so much to that game you haven't discovered yet and this one depresses me with how much game play and story they stripped from it
i can't believe i'm literally halfway through the video and they've only had like 30 seconds total of actually being able to control the character. this game needed this dialogue to be playing while you are physically moving from one place to the next or something to at least make you feel like you are progressing, wtf is this shit lol
The vast majority of the gameplay in Luminous is in the actual dive modes, which they didn't do. The story mode is for the most part...just a story. One that you actually can't fully unlock until you do enough stuff in the other modes. It...wasn't the best system, honestly.

It was definitely new zealand by the way grumps. Hailey is a new Zealander so it would make sense to see posters there. It’s also why some of her songs are in Māori, a beautiful language that the natives of new Zealand speak. On a different note though I am happy yall are playing this, I love endless ocean, though this one is quite different. Hope yall enjoy

KEEP PLAYING. Genuinely! There's a really cool section of the sea that has prehistoric fish! I feel like Dan would absolutely love it! Also, shared dives are more fun because you get more tags and have other people help you complete objectives. I really loved the original games and I hope they play for just a few more episodes at least. Also Dan calling Prayer by Hayley Westenra the "theme song" of the last game is golden lol

Endless oceans was one of the very first game grumps videos I ever watched back in highschool. Probably like 2013 when I watched it? I’ve loved their stuff ever since and get so much joy out of rewatching that old play through. I am absolutely stoked to see this!

Dan being a whale shark makes sense. However, Arin being a feral orca who holds grudges is just perfect.
Weirdly enough, I just read an article earlier today about orcas attacking a yacht in the Strait of Gibraltar.

The nostalgia to see you guys play an Endless Ocean game is crazy. I remember watching the original Endless Ocean playthroughs in high school on repeat, it was one of my favorites! Can't wait to see more.

KEEP PLAYING. Genuinely! There's a really cool section of the sea that has prehistoric fish! I feel like Dan would absolutely love it! Also, shared dives are more fun because you get more tags and have other people help you complete objectives. I really loved the original games and I hope they play for just a few more episodes at least. Also Dan calling Prayer by Hayley Westenra the "theme song" of the last game is golden lol

Endless oceans was one of the very first game grumps videos I ever watched back in highschool. Probably like 2013 when I watched it? I’ve loved their stuff ever since and get so much joy out of rewatching that old play through. I am absolutely stoked to see this!
