So much lost forever. Someone had to write this. Someone had to compose the music. Someone had to paint each cell of animation. Someone had to paint the backgrounds. Someone had to read the characters' lines. Someone had to edit this all together. Show it some respect!
Man, this brings back some awesome memories! As a child of the 80's, I always looked forward to the Saturday Supercade, in addition to a slew of other Saturday morning cartoons. I just plopped down in front of the TV with a bowl of Cocoa Krispies, and I was in 7th Heaven! Plus, this was around the time when my parents bought a Colecovision Adam computer, and it had versions of the classic arcade games, like Q Bert and Pitfall, so that was an awesome bonus. The early / mid 80's were an amazing time to be a kid, and if you were a kid during that time, you know exactly what I'm talking about! I had my Saturday morning cartoons, my Colecovison Adam, my Transformers robots, my A Team action figures, my Star Wars toys, my Tonka trucks, etc. Life was about as awesome as it could possibly get!
I couldn't have said it better myself. I was born in 1973 and Saturday morning cartoons were always a treat. This was back when kids didn't have a lot more options as they do now. That was during a time where we were allowed to be kids. We grew up fast as it was.
You can go back! At least for a little while; because like Cap'n OG Readmore says: "Reading---is a TRIP!" THE TRUSTY BUTTER KNIFE is an adventure novel I've dedicated to all the kids of the '80s who feel the way you do!
The fact still remains that Q*bert, Donkey Kong, K.O. Katy, et al., are on a long list of who and what helped keep me away from drug abuse and alcoholism and all that crap when things were at their worst. If that's not grounds for tracking down the people in charge and smacking 'em upside the head whatever number of times it takes to send the message that the wait for the DVD release has gone on long enough, I don't know what is. What's left of my mind is as good as spoken now. Thank you.
I owned & played most of those games from the Coleco Vision to Atari 2600 days, MY favorite out of all of those was Yars Revenge, It was never a Saturday Supercade cartoon, but it was a hell lot of fun!
Weekday am& pm cartoons: standard/constant Sunday am cartoons: hit or miss Saturday am cartoons: THE HOLY GRAIL OF YOUR CHILDHOOD WEEK! iF YOU EVER OVERSLEPT/MISSED A SATAM YOU FELT BAD UNTIL THE NEXT SATAM!
Gotta hand it to the makers of this show, they were able to get a lot of licences from several companies. Nintendo, Namco, Gottlieb, Activision, and others. That couldn't be cheap.
Yup, nothing like getting up on a Saturday morning with 3 channels chocked full of cartoon goodness from 6am to 12.. After all the gen Xers die off there will be no memory of the golden years of Saturday Mornings..
Just FYI, Tapper WAS real. It was put out by Midway. There were two versions. Tapper that had the player slinging Budweiser, and Root Beer Tapper. You can find the game on some Midway arcade compilations.
As of right now WA is going to be put out this show but i'm pretty sure the hold up is that they want to license the shows they no longer own to try and make it complete again, i assume they'll stall it as long as they can until they run out of HB/RS (Warner considers them one library now) and will put out what they've got. On fb they've confirmed they do own Space Ace, and do not own Donkey Kong, DK Jr or Q*Bert. They have yet to make any "official" statement on their page on the others
Being a kid in the 80's was the fucking bomb! However, after watching some of these old intros, I swear the people that came up with this shit and wrote it, were absolutely using cocaine!
+skinsman82000 Tho I still don't have any desire to watch it now, a little clarification. I could not have cared less about seeing this THIRTY PLUS YEARS AGO, . . . . . pal. The only so-called 'clicking' we did back then was with a remote.
damn i haven't seen this intro for at least 25 years.. i actually have an audio cassette with this on it (i was making an all intro show tape back in the early 80's) but i haven't actually see the intro since that time.. its funny to see all the things that make sounds where on audio you have no idea what it is.. lol
It's kinda weird to think when listening to the closing theme, that there was a day when I was a kid, I listened to that theme, and it would be the last time I watched Saturday Supercade.
Q*Bert on DVD series finally. Dragon's Lair, Pac-Man also. Pole Position (Atari racing game show). What else related to video game cartoon series is now on DVD?
i email ruby spears studios back in 2004 asking them to get cbs to air staurday supercade again but they said they could not because they no longer had the rights to the cartoons
For some reason, that "MONKEY MUSCLE" shriek used to bother me. Don't ask me why, I don't know. I never really watched this show, but I do enjoy the theme song.
@CyberBishop I'd Imagined This Airing On Disney Channel In 1993 For It's 10TH Anniversary Until The Late 90's And Returned To Disney Channel In The Early 2000s
If they're not going to air such shows for sometime or ever, they should at last make copies of them to sell on DVDs. Otherwise, they should sell them. What is a purpose having them if they're not going to air them again. Makes no sense I think.
Is this entire thing back again? Do I tell it to everyone regarding what St. Paul, the apostle said? It's when I grew up to be a man: I put away childish things. Also, about the movie Poster's Child's Play 3 slogan, including There comes a time to put away childish things: But some things just won't stay put. Everyone is supposed to know that Mortal Combat is an adult video game.
Jeremy Williams Frank Welker was all over 80's cartoons and especially 90's cartoons that time. I could make a list who he voiced, but that could go on forever.
Wonder that many times myself. Hard to believe this was on 31-32 years ago when I was nine and 10. I remember watching Saturday Supercade very well, was one of my favorite cartoons.
fallguye6011 I know right?!, I was 6 and 7 myself, and this was one of my favorites as well, I wished there was a way they could get this released on dvd somehow, but can never really go home again, because I would want the commercials, the full experience of the 80s, lol
+Jeremy Williams I was an Hour-Long program on CBS from 1983-1985. Each segment was 11 minutes long. Season 1 consisted of Frogger, Donkey Kong, Pitfall Harry, Q*Bert & Donkey Kong Jr. (Pitfall Harry & Q*Bert rotated each week while the other segments were weekly) Season 2 consisted of Kangaroo, Donkey Kong, Q*Bert & Space Ace which were all weekly.
Jeremy Williams The series ended with 26 Episodes (97 segments). Donkey Kong & Q*Bert each had 19 segments, Pitfall had 7 and the remaining each had 13.
Roy Koopa I thought Donkey Kong was one of the most popular ones I remember where he was working with a couple of crooks who stole a machine that can make toys in a snap and Q-Bert I remember him chasing those snakes on the roller coaster tracks.
Jeremy Williams In the credits, his voice actor Soupy Sales was credited as "STARRING SOUPY SALES as the voice of DONKEY KONG". So I can tell Donkey Kong was popular back then.
So much lost forever. Someone had to write this. Someone had to compose the music. Someone had to paint each cell of animation. Someone had to paint the backgrounds. Someone had to read the characters' lines. Someone had to edit this all together. Show it some respect!
At least parts of it are saved, better then none whatsoever.

boy does this bring me back. Saturday mornings were the best
Wish I could go back to my childhood... 80s were the best
yeah, I agree totally.
You can go back! At least for a little while; because like Cap'n OG Readmore says: "Reading---is a TRIP!" THE TRUSTY BUTTER KNIFE is an adventure novel I've dedicated to all the kids of the '80s who feel the way you do!
komfortliinumb I do too. I really miss this shit.
loved watching this and then going to the arcade and playing the games after my chores were done
The fact still remains that Q*bert, Donkey Kong, K.O. TACO-MAN PLAYS A VIDEO GAME AND HAS FUN FUN FUN!
I owned & played most of those games from the Coleco Vision to Atari 2600 days, MY favorite out of all of those was Yars Revenge, It was never a Saturday Supercade cartoon, but it was a hell lot of fun!

im 31, and glad i was on tge tail end of true saturday mornings...until they went away. Its only instant gratification now for kids...sad.
TACO-MAN PLAYS A VIDE- Oh, wait.
It does sound like taco man
It is
I don’t see it
I loved this as a kid. Loved it!!!! Still cool today!!!! The music and song is killer!!
Gotta hand it to the makers of this show, they were able to get a lot of licences from several companies. Nintendo, Namco, Gottlieb, Activision, and others. That couldn't be cheap.
This theme song gets me pumped for some reason.
Hell Yes 👍🏽👍🏽.
The events of Donkey Kong happened before Mario worked in a wrecking crew with his brother and long before Pauline entered local politics.
And stopped dying her hair. :)
This was the origin of the Taco Man Plays a Video Game theme. Wow I didn't know that. That's pretty cool.
Joe spears and Ken Ruby did a lot of different animated shows during the 80s!
and PLASMA POWER!!!!
Can they all be watched on you tube? If so then you could watch your child hood. I was born in the 21 century, so I could not see all of that.
those were my saturday mornings.. thanks for posting
I like Saturday Supercade cartoon. :)
Only now I remember they made Donkey Kong an absentee father. Would've been cool if they had Junior actually run into big Papa.
the 80's Saturday mornings the GREATEST
Yup, nothing like getting up on a Saturday morning with 3 channels chocked full of cartoon goodness from 6am to 12.. After all the gen Xers die off there will be no memory of the golden years of Saturday Mornings..
These kids have no idea what they're missing today. I just wish they will bring something like Saturday morning cartoons back. I'll still watch 'em.
So will I..
@TFAtv I so wish they would release this on DVD..
Just FYI, Tapper WAS real. It was put out by Midway. There were two versions. Tapper that had the player slinging Budweiser, and Root Beer Tapper. You can find the game on some Midway arcade compilations.

I never watched this. I could not have cared less about seeing this.
blame yourself, you clicked on it pal...
+skinsman82000 Tho I still don't have any desire to watch it now, a little clarification. I could not have cared less about seeing this THIRTY PLUS YEARS AGO, . . . . . pal. The only so-called 'clicking' we did back then was with a remote.

I am glad that you are happy about it! :)
*wipes tear* Wow thanks
2:01 - Frogger was one of my least played PlayStation classics
Q*Bert on DVD series finally. Dragon's Lair, Pac-Man also. Pole Position (Atari racing game show). What else related to video game cartoon series is now on DVD?
+BlackArro Cartoons Super Mario Bros Super Show, I know that much.
+Belinda Klein (MultiKGiles) Thanks. Yes, Super Mario Bros, Pitfall Harry, Frogger, Donkey Kong.
Mega Man
The theme song is just so f***ing good!
i email ruby spears studios back in 2004 asking them to get cbs to air staurday supercade again but they said they could not because they no longer had the rights to the cartoons
It's BS that pitfall is still remembered but Jungle Hunt all but forgotten!
IT's about fauking time they were added, Real Talk!
If there's anybody that can tell me if I can get a DVD of this cartoon? PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE contact me.
Felicidad pura :)
So glad they created extra human friends for Donkey Kong Jr and didn’t include Mario as the villain
I wonder what cartoons of Centipede or Space Invaders would have been like.
Space Invaders would have that "smoked a bunch of cigars" villain voice oh so common in 80s cartoons for the aliens.
What about cartoons for Berzerk, Joust and Dig Dug?
have not seen in many many years.
the best days ever!!!
For some reason, that "MONKEY MUSCLE" shriek used to bother me. Don't ask me why, I don't know. I never really watched this show, but I do enjoy the theme song.
TERCER-MERN
wow they actually included Q Bert’s cursing in this
My life is now complete for now!
Crazy thing is Pole Position came on after this but wasn't part of this then Dungens and Dragon's
This is my 1st comment on my new and recent TH-cam account!!! Hooray for me!!!
So this was basically the proto-Captain N?
Nerdytimes only difference is, this is good
Yeah except this is better than captain n
This is definitely 80s.
Must have been early 80's, because I don't remember these shows.
They ran from 83 - 84 then 85 showed reruns until it was pulled off the air. Boomerang would occasionally show Space Ace as a filler between cartoons.
@CyberBishop I'd Imagined This Airing On Disney Channel In 1993 For It's 10TH Anniversary Until The Late 90's And Returned To Disney Channel In The Early 2000s
They Could have Put Pac-Man in Saturday SuperCade, but, Hanna Barbera Got to Him.
If they're not going to air such shows for sometime or ever, they should at last make copies of them to sell on DVDs. Otherwise, they should sell them. What is a purpose having them if they're not going to air them again. Makes no sense I think.
I Would Imagine It Airing Reruns On Disney Channel In 1993 Untill The Late 90's Untill Around The Early 2000s When It Came Back
WTF?! MARIO WAS THE BAD GUY?!
TACOMAAAANN!!!!!!
too bad licenses prevent a official release :(
DK jr sounds like Scrappy Doo
+Jeremy Williams Donkey Kong Jr. was actually voiced by Frank Welker.
Roy Koopa
is their any voice that man can't do? :)
Jeremy Williams Idk. He's like Mel Blanc to me.
Roy Koopa
Yeah I know Mel Blanc hes Bugs Bunny and Heafcliff they are both great
Jeremy Williams Frank Welker was all over 80's cartoons and especially 90's cartoons that time. I could make a list who he voiced, but that could go on forever.
O Q*Bert E Tão Fofo
Taco man plays a video game and has fun fun fun...
If you call that fun...
I finally uploaded the second version of this with the complete Space Ace intro.
th-cam.com/video/KGNoBDVi3NU/w-d-xo.html
cable tv killed Saturday mornings
OMG where did the time go?!!! lol
I loved this show but I can't remember how long was it an hour or half an hour?
+Jeremy Williams I was an Hour-Long program on CBS from 1983-1985. Each segment was 11 minutes long.
Season 1 consisted of Frogger, Donkey Kong, Pitfall Harry, Q*Bert & Donkey Kong Jr. (Pitfall Harry & Q*Bert rotated each week while the other segments were weekly)
Season 2 consisted of Kangaroo, Donkey Kong, Q*Bert & Space Ace which were all weekly.
Roy Koopa
I guess on season 2 those were the most sucessful I remember these alright back when I was 5.
Jeremy Williams The series ended with 26 Episodes (97 segments). Donkey Kong & Q*Bert each had 19 segments, Pitfall had 7 and the remaining each had 13.
Roy Koopa
I thought Donkey Kong was one of the most popular ones I remember where he was working with a couple of crooks who stole a machine that can make toys in a snap and Q-Bert I remember him chasing those snakes on the roller coaster tracks.
Jeremy Williams In the credits, his voice actor Soupy Sales was credited as "STARRING SOUPY SALES as the voice of DONKEY KONG". So I can tell Donkey Kong was popular back then.
Tacoman!!!
Why the hell is Optimus Prime voicing Mario in this show?
Seriously, Peter Cullen's name can be seen in the credits. Also on imdb.
+Dillon The Red Flash maybe sometimes! I suggest you to watch game theory's Mario Is Mental videos ! ! ! ! !
Fuck i'm old.
toco-man
lmfao donkey kong is a sex offender in that clip
Some of these games deserved a bit better than this show I think..
