  • I walk through the downtown area of Indiana's second most populous city.
    From Wikipedia:
"Fort Wayne is a city in the U.S. state of Indiana and the seat of Allen County, United States. Located in northeastern Indiana, the city is 18 miles (29 km) west of the Ohio border and 50 miles (80 km) south of the Michigan border. The city's population was 270,402 as of the 2019 Census estimate making it the second-most populous city in Indiana after Indianapolis, and the 75th-most populous city in the United States. It is the principal city of the Fort Wayne metropolitan area, consisting of Allen, Wells, and Whitley counties, a combined population of 419,453 as of 2011. Fort Wayne is the cultural and economic center of northeastern Indiana. In addition to the three core counties, the combined statistical area (CSA) includes Adams, DeKalb, Huntington, Noble, and Steuben counties, with an estimated population of 615,077.
Fort Wayne was built in 1794 by the United States Army under the direction of American Revolutionary War general Anthony Wayne, the last in a series of forts built near the Miami village of Kekionga. Named in Wayne's honor, the European-American settlement developed at the confluence of the St. Joseph, St. Marys, and Maumee rivers as a trading post for pioneers. The village was platted in 1823 and underwent tremendous growth after completion of the Wabash and Erie Canal and advent of the railroad. Once a booming manufacturing town located in what became known as the Rust Belt, Fort Wayne's economy in the 21st century is based upon distribution, transportation and logistics, healthcare, professional and business services, leisure and hospitality, and financial services."

I recently moved to Fort Wayne just within the last year. So far I have lived in Las Vegas (NV), Detroit (MI), Toledo (OH), Grand Rapids (MI), and the Erie (PA) areas in my adult life. I have been pleasantly surprised by Fort Wayne, so much so that this city may become my permanent home. Clean, pleasant, reasonable cost of living, and it has most commodities that you could ask for in a smaller city.

I rcently moved to Fort Wayne from chicago and it has so much potential. Even me only being here for a little over 6 months, so much has changed in the time frame. So many new buildings being finished, started, etc. Feels much more alive lol. And i'm looking forward to Electric Works. I feel like alot of people here don't realize how good it actually is and the real potential it has. Super cheap, relatively safer than most other cities in the midwest, alot of nature and trails, and alot of new investment coming in.

Nice video! I'm a Natibve Fortwaynian. I like it!! At 17.58 on your video you said "you would think Indiana being a little state" wouldn't have this traffic, but we are the Second biggest city in Indiana, second only to Indianapolis. We have the old Lincoln Highway going through the middle and no real "bypass' highways, except 469. But through the middle is Washington Blvd, one block north from where you filmed at 17.58, and that is a 1-way West; then this is the 1-way East part of Lincoln Highway (Highway 30, or 930), which is called Jefferson Blvd in town, past the famous Historic Embassy Theater, built in about 1928. Have a great time in Fort Wayne. We are friendly, but for some reason most people don't tell any visitors about anything in Fort Wayne. Haha! It has so much to enjoy! In summer we come alive, especially with our festivals. You need a tour guide with you. :)

You'd think a city of that size would have some laying around that accidentally escaped trash bins or out car windows on a windy day and so on. Looks like they take keeping the city clean seriously, and I commend them for that. Not a top priority for most places to pick up just about every scrap of paper like that.

Action Kid, so happy you were in my hometown. Wish I would have know you were here. I started following you when we were going to visit NYC in 2019 and your videos helped a lot regarding were to go and not to go. I really enjoy your travels and commentary. You did a great job representing Fort Wayne. Much appreciated. Sorry we missed you ❤ forgot to ask, what brought you to Fort Wayne Indiana?

Used to live there back in 2006-2008. The city is very laid back and a bit conservative, but it is a great place for those who seek a quiet life.

If you want to see people and activities downtown you would want to come around the 2ond week of July during the annual festival (Three Rivers Festival).
Otherwise most activity is found in the surrounding malls and clubs away from downtown.

The best part of the courthouse is inside. Too bad he didn't go inside. The ceilings are painted and lots of marble. My great grandfather worked construction on this courthouse in 1897. They had a good sized one before that that was torn down. My dad worked on the new addition called the City County Bldg, about 1973. I'm almost 80. But I now call Hawaii my home.

It’s really a big country town with little culture and a lot of churches and fast food restaurants and that’s Indiana in general. The Ft. Wayne TinCaps are a professional minor league team affiliated with the San Diego Padres. The league they play in, is three steps below MLB, and it's purpose is to develop young players for the major league Padres. "Little League" refers to a league in which children play.

All the midwestern cities in the half million to a million population range are very similar. They pour a bunch of money into their downtown areas, and look good. But as you see , the streets are mostly deserted. I like ActionKid, but he's maybe just a little to positive and optimistic concerning this city. An unusual viewpont for a New Yorker, who usually bash everything west of the Hudson River.

Actually I live in Fort Wayne, and they really haven’t put much money into downtown until the last ~10 years when they’ve changed a LOT. I would say they put a lot more money into the northern part of the city, which looks much nicer in my opinion. Downtown has definitely stepped it up in recent years though
