Your problems have few dimensions religious , political and economical . The foundation of Pakistan was laid on Hindu hatred and a separatist stand that we cannot co exist . Recently, Tajikistan parliament formally banned the hijab (although there was a soft ban on it and beards for a while). No Pakistani newspaper reported (well, at least, the English ones). A cursory search of the main TV channels also returned zilch. While one can guess (even from here in India) why Pakistan's mainstream media practices such obfuscation and sleight of hand operation, I'm surprised that even social media has avoided it. Other than how this reflects on the integrity of Pakistani media, the reasons you two guys must discuss this is to highlight the incontrovertible truth that (1) military ops is not enough to curb extremism (needs a more organic approach/solution) and (2) just like the previous point, neither will banning beards and hijabs solve the problem. While I find it reprehensible that a state anywhere should determine how citizens present themselves, it is also dangerous and it has potential for sparking a revolt. What comes will be more dangerous by an order of magnitude. (Tajikistan's Persian-speaking neighbor is kind of an example after the Shah-era). I have two questions on the media that I'd appreciate if you or Muzammil will address. Recently, Tajikistan parliament formally banned the hijab (although there was a soft ban on it and beards for a while). No Pakistani newspaper reported (well, at least, the English ones). A cursory search of the main TV channels also returned zilch. While one can guess (even from here in India) why Pakistan's mainstream media practices such obfuscation and sleight of hand operation, I'm surprised that even social media has avoided it. Other than how this reflects on the integrity of Pakistani media, the reasons you two guys must discuss this is to highlight the incontrovertible truth that (1) military ops is not enough to curb extremism (needs a more organic approach/solution) and (2) just like the previous point, neither will banning beards and hijabs solve the problem. While I find it reprehensible that a state anywhere should determine how citizens present themselves, it is also dangerous and it has potential for sparking a revolt. What comes will be more dangerous by an order of magnitude. (Tajikistan's Persian-speaking neighbor is kind of an example after the Shah-era).
The next one is a little dicey for you to discuss, I recognize. Other than a press release (read state "memo") imprint, no one discusses the recent news of some media persons' property being seized. Although the charges against them are old, their properties being seized in a new order and an opportunity for social media to discuss. I know why but I hope someone will discuss. And "the eyes" in the sky watching this, I'd like them to know that, one day, their time will also be over and you'll be eating crow. That's the way life goes.
