Inspired by Stray Kids // Crochet Rabbit Ear Beanie Tutorial

  • Been working on this one for a little while now!
    I cut it from the video because it was already way too long but if you want to replicate the original beanie I would recommend using a chunkier yarn. Will make your ears chunkier and bigger. I also recommend trying your beanie on when you finish making it and pinning the ears to the back of the beanie so they stay visible from the front when you're wearing it. I'm almost sure that's what they did in the Stray Kids Maniac music video to stop them from flopping all over the place~!

    I thought I might try making a beanie after I saw the ones SKZ wore during the concert. You don't understand how hyped it makes me to see a tutorial INSPIRED by them!!! Thank you for this!
    *Update (25-04-2023)*
    I finally started on an ear, but I didn't consider that my yarn is chunkier than what you used. Ergo, I now have a very long ear that is 75% finished, and no more yarn. (Also because I did half a beanie with the same yarn)
    NEVERTHELESS! Your tutorial has been very easy to follow, which is new for me because I always struggle with instructions. I feel like we have a similar approach to crocheting in that we're kinda chill about the stitch counts. 🥹 I also despise weaving in tails so I love that tip about including them in the new stitches. Aaaa I can't wait to restock my yarn and finish this!!

    • @niwmalice7492
      @niwmalice7492  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sure! It looks ind of like in the skz video they've used safety pins or something to pin the ears about half way down the ear to the back brim of the beanie on either side, just so it remains visible at the front and doesn't fall behind his head. It also helps to make it look more puppy than rabbit in my opinion ^.^ I hope that helps, honestly I'm a little confused even reading my own reply, so if it's still unclear I can try making a short or something, so just let me know ^.^

  • @BenevolentChanStan

    I just found your videos for the beanies. These are so cute. I was wondering have you made the patterns for the other members or do you know of anyone who did? If not that's fine thanks for sharing ❤

    • @niwmalice7492
      @niwmalice7492  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I've made patterns for the cat, rabbit/puppy and fox, so I guess that only leaves the quokka and wolf? So honestly I think the wolf beanie they have Chan wearing is actually the raccoon beanie, they just chopped the tail off. So you could follow the fox tutorial, just do it in grey yarn. And for the quokka, I think it's actually just a cat beanie where they pinned the ears down to make them look curved. Enough people have asked me about it that I might go ahead and make some quokka ears and maybe a more wolf chan accurate set of wolf ears, so if you can't find anyone else, just hold tight and I'll hopefully get it done asap ^.^

I hope you understand what im trying to say 😅

    • @niwmalice7492
      @niwmalice7492  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would go with just the last row, I think? I haven't tried it myself, but if you have the patience for it I would experiment a little and see what you like. Might be if you increase in only the very top for several rows it will turn out very pointy, or it might come out a shape you don't like/deformed. But the safe route if you just want it finished is to only increase at the top in the last row ^.^ Hope that helps and feel free to let me know how it goes!

    What yarn would you recommend with this since I have no experience with Japanese yarn

    • @niwmalice7492
      @niwmalice7492  ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not familiar with yarn weights if I'm honest since I took up crochet using Japanese and Korean yarn, but any yarn would work for this as long as you keep in mind that thin yarns will give you smaller ears and the thicker you go the bigger the ear is going to get. I would recommend any yarn that calls for using a 4mm size crochet hook, but again my knowledge of hook and yarn sizes using the American or UK sizing is kind of shaky. I hope something in this mess of text is helpful!
