- When I was in 3rd grade I got made fun of for liking New Kids on the block. Because of this I was subverted and started making fun of them myself. Same happened with Vanilla Ice and MC Hammer, Even Limp Bizkit later on.. I am not sure why we Cut down Creators that take care of other people with their talents! Anyway this is my honest reaction to The New video from

Joey did on instagram too. So crazy that so many made fun of them/us… it was a lot of envy and feeling bad themselves, it’s actually sad. I love how these guys are passionate and seem really kind too. I’m driving 8 hours to see the. In June, last saw them in 1990. Such great memories. Hugs to you ❤️
@@julie7677 I appreciate that people, especially millennials, are talking about this. I've seen so many video essays about how pretty much anything teenage girls like gets crapped on. I know that doesn't apply to all the musicians that get flack for being super popular. There's just something weird about some people needing to be contrarian, like they're defined by _not_ liking them and they think it makes them better or cooler.
As John Green says, don't yuck on other people's yums. There's plenty of room for all of us to like whatever we like and appreciate the differences.

What a beautiful and genuine reaction....thank you. I have been a massive Blockhead since they started way back and I too remember being taunted for my love of them. They are and always will be a part of me.
They came out when I was 12 and always loved them and throughout the years. When I saw thier new videos I teared up too. Remembering the easier times. When bands made people happy and bring communities together. Now there is even more seperation and hate. I wish I could go to the once in a lifetime concert in thier hometown since I don't live that far away. Disabled and with an oxygen tank and no wheels makes it impossible. Maybe they will cut another DVD :)
People still make fun of them but they don't care. They say love conquers hate and they take that to the bank still selling out stadiums. They forgive you, you can too. ❤

I feel you. When the first time I watched this music video, I just literally smile, laugh and shed the tears like you did. It was really good, almost perfect for me. The themes, the artists, the music... It was really, really good. And it was taken me through the time, back to when I was a kid that enjoyed all the 80s and 90s music without worry being bullied or else. It was really bring me back to the time...
We were all made fun of and it wasn't right but we are stronger for it and still enjoying NKOTB. This BH Family and I love you man. 💝🙏💝 Big Hugs and BHLove.
I think the dislike of boybands was birthed by the industry. They are frequently left out of awards even if they have more sales (now streams). Younger fans are still having to hide when they like them. Don't beat yourself up. Kids are doing what they feel they have to do to survive growing up. Hopefully we can keep teaching kids that they don't have to be ashamed to like what they like, and maybe some day the cycle will break. Have fun at the concert!!
Amen to this. To be able to like what we like without feeling outcast, especially as kids, would be such a blessing.

You are amazing. You have a million sisters. I love you. My brother's were obnoxious. New Kids saved my life. Literally saved my life. I was sick, lost my hair, my right arm was paralyzed and in 1989 and 1990 the music gave me something to live for and look forward to. I'm here because they saved me.
I'm so happy you are going to get to see them. I'm sitting here, I just dropped patients off for dialysis and I am crying in the parking lot. I cried yesterday when Donnie put it up on Twitter. I'd love to just give you a hug.

Not going to lie, I'm 47 and I cried too. I feel a genuine sorrow for people who didn't live through the 80s. I know every generation thinks their time was THE time, but the 80s were special. Everything was new and exciting. Life was on fast forward and it'll never be as good as it was back then.

I remember NKOTB I was a fan and time flies and I teared up watching this and the music video. There's nothing wrong with feeling nostalgia and sad about that . I myself was an advid fan I had posters and I admired their singing. They were talented, wish I could go back in time!!
I was a hardcore NKOTB fan with 100s of posters and merchandise back then. Got made fun of some for it but I stayed a fan even during the first New Kids era. Some of my favorite memories of my childhood. Got me through some sad and depressing times their music. Huge Donnie and Joe fan then. Now I love them equally
I LOVED them so much till high school. Then in my late 20’s I fell so in love again. I cried like you, but so much more because I realized this is the band to LOVE because they are AMAZING and love their fans. Also life is so damn short. Where did all this time go? How are we this old so soon ? It seems like yesterday I was watching music videos in my parents basement.

I knew BBTT would be good but I wasn't ready for this level of epicness. I was expecting epic but it was more than that. Everything they do is for us Blockheads. They are always making me cry just because I am proud of them and how talented they are. The past is the past but thank you for sharing what happended when you were younger and your emotions. That actually was cool.
I totally get why thinking back to those years gets you. I am 47 and in my time I can say with ease, the 80s were the best years.
The sheer number and diversity in such things as games/music/films/cartoons is mind-blowing. The 80s just seemed to be a time where they tried everything in all media forms and no one said "No, you cannot do that". It was a time when someone came up with an idea and not only ran with it but they were encouraged to run with it. Not everything worked, but the number of things that did easily outweighed them.
Quiet Riot? No that was Twisted Sisters. Great reaction. I'm 47 and 1987 was the best music. All the hard rockers unleashed the charts like Whitesnake, Poison, Motley Crue, Alice Cooper and Bon Jovi. But also coming from Australia the Aussies also dominated the charts bands like Midnight Oils, Icehouse, Kyle Minogue, Mental as Anything, Pet Shop Boys and more. I was 12 years old. Sorry to hear they did that to you back in the days 😞 They tried it to me to in 1989, but I defended them always and when they noticed it didn't work to bully me about it...they didn't do it anymore. I'm on my 40s and I totally understand what you said at the end. When I was young I was told or forced to appreciate rock, metal and punk, and that pop and dance music were shameful or girly things. Fortunatelly these things changed today, and I often see myself listening to the gold era of dance music with 2unlimited, Haddaway and another groups. An era that we lost enjoying back then due to discrimination.
I was in first grade when I got into NKOTB. Joey was my very first crush. Love them so much.
I understand how you feel. I was born in 82 and grew up more in the 90s. So when I was in high school I remember when Hanson came out, at first I was into their music until I noticed that basically no one in school (especially my grade) did not like them and made fun of them.

I got made fun of so bad from age 10-15 for being a huge NKOTB fan back in the 80's/ 90's. I had over 100 NKOTB T-shirts & I'd wear a different one to school each day, which made me a target to be ridiculed & harassed. Plus, they'd make fun of them... Which pissed me off even more. I can only image what being a male fan would've been like, being bullied, etc. Totally understand why you felt that if you made fun of them too they'd leave you alone. We all took the heat & are still fans today cuz NKOTB love is ETERNAL. We are Bravehearts!❤️🤖
