    The best guitar is the one you love and pick and play the most - 45 studio sounds good to me! Enjoy it

    Years ago I acquired a J-45 Banner at a good deal. It sounds great, and it's paid for. I really like it compared to all other J-45s I have heard or played. The things for me are sound and playability. Necks vary on Gibsons . Thanks

      Thanks for watching Tex. I absolutely agree: sound and playability. Cheers mate.

      @riffcodgerpetermcaleer8638 before my wife departed (leukemia), she said I could get a nice guitar for my birthday, Christmas, or our anniversary. She knew I wanted an 'heirloom" collection of guitars that I played, one each for our 8 children and 12+ grandchildren. She did not want the kids to experience what she did when her Mom died (not getting what was promised to her). I've played and sang for 50+ years and volunteer sing for folks in Memory Care (Alzheimer's & Dementieva). Have a great day.

    As a classical player we always prefer Rosewood to Mahogany

      Not surprising Zen, given the complexity of sound rosewood resonates. Thanks for watching and it would be great if you could subscribe to the channel. Cheers.

      It's funny, I once read an article were a very very famous classical builder said if guitarist's were not so conservative he would build the body out of concrete!@@riffcodger

    I picked up a J-45 studio rosewood too - Love it! definitely a unique sound profile - I find it really beautiful for open chords, and fingerpicking, but it can get a bit muddy with rich chord arrangements, possibly because the bass is a bit weak, and it also produces a lot of mid-range overtones.
    It looks like Gibson have taken this model out of their line-up now. They are instead offering it in satin finish, and currently have none in stock (Will they ever again!?). They have also started to offer a J-45 standard rosewood at an eye-watering price! I think we both picked up a good-value for money guitar when we did!

    Ever tried a LS or LL Transacoustic ? An absolute bargain for 1K.
    Ridiculously good quality and sound 😉🤫🤫

    Just listened again and you're probably right. The mic was right in front of me. Voice is OK but it's not getting the best out of the guitar. The guitar is tuned a half step down which isn't helping either. Apologies. And thanks for watching. Will do better next time. Cheers mate.

    Very interesting, Peter. I was going to ask if you’d changed the strings but you pre-empted my question in the dying seconds! What strings do you prefer to use on acoustics and when do you tend to change them?

    • @riffcodger
      @riffcodger  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Bill. I hate new strings so I don't change them very often. And that goes for electric as well as acoustic. But these will probably get changed this week😂

    • @riffcodger
      @riffcodger  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks Leon. I'm not sure what strings to put on it. At the moment I'm afraid to change them cos it sounds so good😂

      I’ve a j45 std, had it 4yrs now. Strings, I like Martin monels, they’re nickel wound that used to be popular in the 60’s. Well worth a try as they bring out the character of the guitar for me

    Sorry. At 9.30 I meant depth not width. Also the depth of a martin D18/D 28 is 4 and 7/8 inches.

    I'm sorry - Your mic positioning does not do the guitar justice. It sounds as if the mic lies on the floor behind You.
    So - Where is the mic?
