10 years ago I was told to listen to these guys and I didn’t like it… but now, as I listen again, I love it. It’s strange how time and age makes our tastes in music change. Jimmies voice is addictive!
Used to pay a buck ('72) to get into the Cotton Club outside of Lubbock to see these guys. Jimmy Dale has literally and physically "Come into my kitchen" and he is a really cool dude, this was post his gig in The Big Lebowski.
I was totally unaware of the Flatlanders, until about seven years ago after I’d been researching Texas songwriters for about 3 years then. I like them all but, still not really knowledgeable on them. Let me say. If you ever research Texas songwriters. You will have to quit or die. Because it infinite. And, it’s addictive. The only 12 step groups for it, are in Oklahoma!!
I flew out of Dallas in Feb 1968 on a DC9, it was early on the morning.. she was a beautiful city...

@@richardkline1832 agreed!
Jimmie Dale Gilmore is a rad musician. My mind's got a mind of it's own . Great tune

Take it from someone who has lived there on and off for 4 decades..every word is true!
That guitar player is fire.
yes . The guy playing the telecaster is a bad ass
Robbie Gjersoe
I can easily imagine Willie singing this.
I love Butch , reminds me Jonny Cash . Great tune
pour moi c'est une merveille ce JIMMIE
0:44 “It’s a league game, Smokey”
One who knows! And he looked so much older in the movie. He did say he really enjoyed Jeff Bridges and John Goodman as musicians.
Jimmie Dale Gilmore wrote the song and appeared in the BIG LEBOWSKI ... the Dude is cool. They should have let him sing all the verses
Thanks for that . Love the Big Lebowski . Jimmy and Butch and the dude
Wasn't that so cool . Smoky you were over the line . Jimmy Dale helped make that movie . John Goodman was so believable as a crazy M F .
He has a cool, unusual voice I think.
'Smokey, you're entering a world of pain...'
Get it smokey

Jim Johnston
tell me that jimmie is not the prototype country singer of today
he is not.
There's no one like Jimmie.
He's not, but that would be a total fabrication. Listen to Ripple!
Jimmy sounds like willie strangled
He always has, and will until he passes. That's just Jimmie Dale. Powerfully peaceful person.
C top et réaliste.
Dallas...mauvaise réputation comme à la télé avec la série réaliste.
