Equally honored and concerned to be invited into Sean's inner monologue as he sits alone in a black, empty void and meticulously orders a niche Letterbox list as if he's giving a tour of a Goya exhibition at the Prado. Extremely Lynchian energy coming off this video, love it.
This is Sean's truest self. Making lists. Talking about old movies. Educating the viewer. And this is what we need podcasting to become, to go back to its roots, just a nerd talking in to a microphone (and now a camera) with no one else in the room. We are alone folks. Let's embrace it. Keep doing these.
I would add films with an excellent approach to the subject in question: Only lovers left alive by Jim Jarmusch Thirst by Park Chan-wook Cronos by Guillermo del Toro
I'd like to heartily recommend the Herzog Nosferatu for the soundtrack too. The Georgian ensemble Gordela sing "Tsintskaro", its use in the rats in the city scene is so haunting. Also, the soundtrack made by German krautrock group Popol Vuh also sets such an eerie tone.
Great stuff. May I suggest doing similar videos for films that are coming out much later? That could give us more time to do the homework before a big release. For example, Guillermo Del Toro’s Frankenstein, 28 Years Later, Superman, or even Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey.
Blood For Dracula is always worth a look. Udo Kier stars as a sad, melodramatic Dracula who can only feed on virgin blood. The problem is he’s having an increasingly hard time finding virgins to feed on. Classic early 70s Euro Trash vibe paired with a haunting performance by Udo doing what he does best.
I was 11yrs old when I first saw 1922 Nosferatu and 26 yrs later I understand why people call me a dork. Only note, sorry if I am incorrect and simply missed it, ...the Syllabus has one massive glaring gap...Vampires Kiss
Love this, but kind of weird to almost just put Dracula and Nosferatu films on the list, especially as the stories are so similar. What about films related to desire + horror, without Bram Stoker's influence, maybe like Borowczyk or Italian pervert cinema or I don't know, more stuff like Hagazusa (?) and Crimson Peak.
I’m sorry but can we be done with Guillermo Del Toro? He’s becoming the spike lee of horror. Somehow he inserts himself into every horror conversation and does everything except make good horror movies

I like the recent variety in content lately
I would watch Sean make Letterboxd lists all the time ngl
If he published a list-making video like this once a week, honestly, it'd be one of the highlights of my week.
This is giving "the Bob Ross of Letterboxd" energy

this kind of content is a great addition to the channel.
Goddamnit, I love this man and his passion for Letterboxd.
When you added Cabinet of Dr Caligari, The Innocents, Hagazussa, and Crimson Peak…you made a subscriber, man
This is Sean at his dorkiest. Loved it. Sincerely. More of this please.
Sean is logging his Daughters movies too. Cute
Because he is watching them..
More of these!
Felt the need to pile onto the positive feedback here-this is great! Makes me feel like I’m in Sean’s film school. Please do many more
Really love this, hope they do more of these videos with Sean
Thank you teacher.
I absolutely love both Robert Egger and Sean's love for classic cinema. Nosferatu is a masterpiece of filmmaking.
Concerning AND delightful. Happy holidays, Sean!
I love this format! The youtube content has been great
I feel like I’m 18 again back at USC film / crit studies - you did a great job - this is film theory 101
This is incredible content, very much feels like Mr. Rogers making a Letterboxd list.
Love this! Please make more
Sean is the living embodiment of those ads about you inevitably becoming your parents. can't say if that's a compliment or not.
8:22 🫵👴
Love this show and everyone that makes it possible thank you!!!
Loved this Sean, and would love to see you do more syllabi with upcoming releases (Brutalist, Nickel Boys, Complete Unknown, etc.)!
Sean's tone while adding movies to the list was very Bob Ross coded. 😂
Please do this more Sean!!! Love this. A film like Hagazzusa would’ve completely passed me by if I hadn’t seen this
“Spread’Em! Erotic thrillers, 1980-2005” 😂
i need to see an entire list of his list names after seeing that😂
I saw that as well 😂
CR must have joint access to the list making
This is great. I'd watch as many of these as you could ever make sean
More of these please 🙏🏽
Amazing content. More of this and Merry Christmas!
Amazing to watch Sean cook
I would add films with an excellent approach to the subject in question:
Only lovers left alive by Jim Jarmusch
Thirst by Park Chan-wook
Cronos by Guillermo del Toro
Literally was trying to figure out how to change the posters this morning. Thanks!
Absolutely incredible content!

There’s a very “Bob Ross” quality to this video. Sean adding all his happy little movies the list.
Great video. This certainly should be a new series
immensely comforting
Sean is such an incredible story teller
This was awesome! I hope you share other syllabuses (cough a complete unknown cough)
Annd I just listened to the latest Big Pic episode where you guys do that - thanks!
This a great ad read for letterboxd. I really dug it.
Sean preaching the gospel. Loving everything big pic related lately as well as the recent trailer reactions
The Bob Ross of Letterboxd.
Somehow, Sean's screen shows "The Innocents" playing on AmazonUS, but when I look it up it's not available anywhere. Really want to see that one.
I need this to become a series yesterday.
damn the kiddo is crushing tape, 55 films on the Alice Has Seen list 📈
11:10 Sean his name is Count Orlock! There are no characters named Nosferatu in the film
I love this man so much. I am thrilled he has a lovely marriage, but gosh darn where are the other men like him?

A) big Mr. Rogers energy here. Awesome. 2) I'm not watching more than 2 movies as an onboard to Eggers' movie. The original, and The Witch.
Fennessey Film School. would watch a million of these
Missed a chance to say see you at the movies
It's simply the best film in the history of horror and gothic horror films of all time, period. Deserves to win at least 10 statuettes
Hell yeah, brother
Awesome
This is hilarious - and so awesome. 🙏
Sean, make one for The Brutalist.
You missed the biggest one. Dracula: Dead and Loving it (1995)
See you at the movies
Please do every week
professor fennessy
More please
pls make more videos like this
Neyman being an Eggers hater was the least-surprising thing ever
You should've added one of the greatest vampire films, Carl Theodor Dreyer's 1932 "Vampyr"
The Lodger is so underrated
We must protect Sean at all costs.
00:12:10 Strong Bob Ross energy here 😄
This seems like spon con but I don’t get care. Let’s have a vid of CR setting his Sleeper line up next
This is catnip to the Fennessy ferals.
This is a great idea. I think a amy sonic cyllabus would have perfectly set the stage for sonic 3 this weekend.
I’d like to change the posters, but I’m not gonna pay for Letterboxd lol
This is Sean Fennessey asmr
I was 11yrs old when I first saw 1922 Nosferatu and 26 yrs later I understand why people call me a dork.
Only note, sorry if I am incorrect and simply missed it, ...the Syllabus has one massive glaring gap...Vampires Kiss
Ackshually, Hagazussa takes place in the Austrian Alps, not the Carpathian mountains.
4 stars for the Lodger? Appalling!

Seans aside starting at 12:04 made me uncomfortably tingly.
yes
Release the Pop Star Cinema list!
We demand more syllabi in 2025
You missed Dracula: Dead and Loving It...
Hello, fellow I-would-totally-choose-a-different-movie-poster-anytime-if-I-could ("la sombra del vampiro" is spanish, not italian tough)
12:16 “Oh yeahhhhh”
Sean why does boogie nights have 1 star?
Sean. Why.
10/10. No notes.
i need to watch Dark City again
Deeply nerdy and geeky. Give me more.
Anya Taylor Joy in Witch, before she mutilated her face.
I’m sorry but can we be done with Guillermo Del Toro? He’s becoming the spike lee of horror. Somehow he inserts himself into every horror conversation and does everything except make good horror movies
Darth Sean in his Ayahuasca darkroom
Where are all 5 Twilight films?!
Sean looks like he could be Wallace Shawns son
"Spread 'Em: Erotic Thrillers"?? LOL!!
That top light over you needs a scrim and some diffusion, your hair is over exposed. Who lights these things? Amanda?
We should make Amanda watch this.
has Sean turned into Bob Ross?
are movies also happy accidents?
No consideration to Yoga Hosers?
I love big pic but this is bad
