    My uncle (RIP, 2020) used to have a big store in Bluefields. He started selling CDs in the late 90s, and was one of the first ones to bring that technology to the Atlantic coast, he was so happy that the region was finally going to get connected with the capital. So it’s nice to see why he loved living in Bluefields.

      Greetings 👋. We Nicaraguan embrace Jamaican culture and music’s in the Caribbean coast of Nicaragua 🇳🇮 and Central America especially on the Caribbean side. Jamaica and the moskito kingdom Which is this present day the Caribbean coast of Nicaragua and part of Honduras. Back in the 1780 until 1850 there was a relation between these two countries cause of the English interest and colonial benefits.

    I just came across your channel, I’m a big fan.
    One thing I’d like to add to this video, and yes, why not. Although I’m sickened by the woke political correctness that’s infected our streets out in the States,
    Nicaraguan blacks are actually known as Afro-Nicaraguans or Costeños as a term of endearment, not “blacks”. Nicaraguans actually appreciate/love their Costeños and their music, got Dimension Costeña? their baseball and or Caribbean/Garífuna culture.
    Thanks for making this video!!! Its about time our Costeños get some real down to earth exposure!

    It is my understanding, for those confused as to why a lot of black people in Nicaragua speak english is because they came from the english colonies in the Caribbean. Either brought by the english or escaped once they reached shores. And this is where I don't think things are very clear. Depending on dates this may have happened after emancipation, so to say "brought" may be giving the wrong impression.
    As for Garifunas, they are a seperate group, their language is more or less native to peoples of south america, culturally they are a mix of african and native. And have been in central American longer than the people "brought" by the english.
    Also there are other ethnic groups who speak english on the coast by the influence of the new arrivals, those include Garifunas and the other native peoples. Intermarriage has played a huge role, too.

    • @n.b.2164
      @n.b.2164 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The coast was a protectorate of the British. Hence why English is the main language. It used to be the Miskitu Kingdom. They sided with the British rather than the Spanish. The Coast imported a lot of banana and many people from Jamaica came over. Other Europeans as well, my family has German, Swedish, and English blood, along with Miskitu and Black. So yeah lots of mixture. Garifunas I believe came over from the Grenadines and other islands.

    • @ceothachosen1
      @ceothachosen1 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Also the Miskito people were mortal enemies of the Spanish and aligned with the British so many of them spoke English.

      @@n.b.2164 Yes the Garifuna are in St Vincent & The Grenadines. And the Jamaicans were sent over by British plantation owners to work in the Banana industry just like in Panama (before the canal was being built), the entire Central American Atlantico side is folks from Jamaica so they have English names, speak Patois, nyam de same food and go to Pentecostal church lol !
