  • So many details go into planning a trip to Nusa Penida, especially if you (like us) aren't comfortable driving a motorbike. Figuring out all of the little details, like cars to port, ferries to and from the island, cars to all of the gorgeous sights, and the snorkeling once you get to the island felt overwhelming. Especially when we were getting mixed reviews from friends in our hostel about whether Nusa Penida is even worth it!
So we decided to book this tour with Viator to do all of the top things in Nusa Penida in 1 Day (and have it all figured out FOR US!). We booked this tour via the Chase Travel Portal to earn 5x miles using our Chase Sapphire Preferred.

The day started with a car arriving to our hostel in Canggu, Bali, Indonesia at sunrise to take us to the ferry port, we ferried to the island of Nusa Penida and were immediately directed to another boat for a snorkel tour! Snorkeling with Manta Rays was what Ivan was most excited about for his birthday trip, and wow it was so unbelievable! Next we visited three more snorkel spots, Crystal Bay, Manta Bay, and Gamat Bay where we saw so many beautiful fish including angel fish and barracudas!
Back on land we ended up on a private tour, where our guide drove us to Kelingking Beach, one of the most social media famous spots in the world. After a quick lunch, we proceeded to Broken Beach and Angel's Billabong. All absolutely gorgeous, and then we caught the ferry back to Bali and the car back to our hostel. Everything but the food itself was included in our tour, making for such an easy day full of hard core travel! We highly recommend this tour!

hey I have a few questions related to the tour you took-
    1) how long did they let you guys snorkel at every spot(especially at Manta Bay)?
    2) what are the directions to the less crowded cliff point of kling kling?
    3) when did you guys go and how was the tourist situation in Nua Penida (in general) during that season?
apologies if this is obnoxious but I'm thinking of going with my family in May 2024 and I want to know if it is worth to tour Nusa Penida for a day!

It probably depends on weather / water conditions (and the water was pretty rough that day) but I'd guess we were at each snorkel spot for around 20 minutes (you want to be ready and be one of the first ones to jump off the boat & last ones back on). At Kling Kling we just followed the tour guide to the less crowded point. He cut right somewhere between all the little shops on the walk to the main point. I think it wouldn't be too hard to find, or if you take this tour they'll take you there. We went late April and the tourist situation wasn't too bad, I'd imagine similar to how it will be in May. If you're thinking of going for just a day, I highly recommend this tour we booked with Viator (the link is in the video's description) it was amazing for getting all of "Nusa Penida's greatest hits" done without having to stress at all about figuring it out yourself! Have an amazing time traveling with your family that sounds amazing!
