    First time watching your videos. I think that you are doing great with these videos & centering yourself.
    I have my name down for a CNIB (Canadian National Institute for the blind guide dogs. Many years to wait but still so excited for the future guiding dog to help me & make my life easier.
    I am legally blind & I find winter horrendous.
    I love your vlogs! ❤

    I had a practice walk with a guide dog in training the other day and I was also surprised at how much the harness moved and wobble.

      When an instructor is doing a walk with you as a practice or Juno walk, they hold it much steadier....but then we have to think about where the harness hits the dog on the front of the chest and how their legs move. Once I thought about the anatomy of the creature I realized it made sense, but I totally wasn't prepared and it is a hard thing to remember to not hold too tight.

    I’m getting my first guide dog in about 3 weeks! So nervous and excited about them finding the right dog!

      Just remember that the dog is just meeting you for the first time. It is very rare that the relationship magically works on the first day. You are both two beings entering in a working partnership. When I first met Jop she ignored me and sniffed all around my room, and then didn't really get cozy with me until she knew she was coming home with me. She is a real sweetheart though and I am so glad that I stuck it out and put my all into training. You are not alone, but just remember to give it your all and be honest with your instructor. They and you will be able to tell if it doesn't work, but honestly, they work so hard on matching, you will be fine. I'm so excited ofr you! Best wishes and let me know who teams up with you!! Happy Christmas to you!

      Blind Inspirationcast Thank you for the advice, I’ll definitely remember this when meeting and starting the training process with him/her. Happy Christmas to you as well!

      Blind Inspirationcast just met my guide dog yesterday! Her name is Dixie and she’s a black golden lab mix, so I get where you’re coming from with the bushy tail! Our first walk went pretty well, for our first one. My trainer thinks it’s a really good match

      I am so honored thank you so much! It makes me so happy to know that I can make other people laugh. I would love to do some stand up at some point, but I can't seem to get it together in my area. Stay tuned, and thanks again :)

    If you don't mind my asking? How do you film so well and make sure everything is in frame?

    • @BlindIC
      @BlindIC  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah no worries. So, basically I got a simple sony camera that I put on a tripod and try to hold the lense with my hand and then back up really slowly. THe times when I film on the go, I just kind of point and shoot towards things....thus sometimes the bad fingers in the way, or cut off face. Sometimes I can catch a high contrast thing, so if I all of a sudden catch Joplin's eyes in her face, I'll try and zoom in a little. As far as my editing, my techie Cheryl does that....she is amazing.
