I hear you and often say that I'm blind and find it hard to try and adapt as I also have other disabilities such as mobility. So people think because I'm legally blind and use a wheel chair that I'm lying about my vision issues.

    WARNING RANT BELOW:
Good evening Colleen, Katie here I sent you an email a few months ago about possible projects that I have in the works and I was wondering if I could add a few things and/or suggestions to your video in the comments below here?
In general I have found living in the Midwest that people tend to put me in a little bubble with everyone else who has a intellectual disability just because that is typically the demographic in this community and maybe you already covered that topic in the video and I just didn't catch it but in general I would tell people not to do that because one disability is not fit all. Secondly, I have also found in this area that people tend to use the phrase "taken care of," and while I do understand where they are coming from, it gets on my last nerve because yes, I need a little help now and then, NEWSFLASH we all do, but I sure don't need to be taken care of!
OH problem number two, just because I wear glasses and have a big beautiful dog next to me no offense, doesn't mean I'm blind! Or that my dog is blind. Yes, you heard me they ask me all the time if Valley is blind! Isn't ignorance bliss?
The last point I would like to make is that just because I have one disability that impairs some of my daily living skills, doesn't mean I'm deaf, you don't have to yell at me to get my attention and you sure as heck don't have to dumb yourself down to have a conversation with me. I'm intelligent! I really am!
Okay rant over. Please let me know in the comments below if you'd like to do a collaboration video or something as I would really like to build my TH-cam channel. Or if you'd like to book me for a speaking engagement. Thank you so much for your time and I look forward to hearing from you in the future! K&V

MY CP WORLD PRODUCER/DESIGNER/MANAGER I think every one needs to be taken care of some times. Like when you are sick. Taking care of someone might mean cooking for a loved one. I love you so I do this for you stuff. It sucks that the meaning for you has become so bad.
It really stupid that people treat you like that. You may have sight issues, but it doesn't stop you from doing things, it may slow you down, but should never stop you from being out in the community. With the grouping. I'm pretty sure they are more like over lapping circles, you could have a physical disability that means you have trouble seeing, or walking and it has nothing to do with your mind. a person who is over lapping might be some one that was in a car accident that left him mentally impared (or slowed (I know people who take forever to make board game desision but usually make a better one than most people)) with less fuction in an arm. I know people with mental Problems who are really smart, but the paranoia and bipolar makes it difficult to keep close friends (Long, sad, and scary story).
If anyyhing finding out about these things means that the community may gain a better understanding, and attepring to try and understand what someone is going through is a very good thing for all.

Hey K and V and Claire! I appreciate the comments, and I agree Katie! That was something we touched on in the video but because it was an overview, there is going to be a different video covering more of the 'what not to do' type stuff. I would absolutely be fine with collaborating. Do you have a way to film and/or would you like to have your answers or comments read? Or you could do a recording that I could play while showing some pictures of your choosing etc. Just let me know, and thanks for your patience blindinspirationcast@gmail.com Claire, I think it is so hard to balance terms, and often with a concept such as disability, sexuality, or race, certain things just become a negative association to people because of their experiences. One person can take the words as they are, while someone else might just be so sick of hearing them. Love and Support Friends! Colleen and Joplin
